Chapter 788: Chapter 820: Eavesdropping by the Wall (Part 2)

He’s always had conflicts with Sixth Master, ever since he came to Sixth Master’s side, there’s been a constant stream of mishaps.

"Your nose is bleeding," Sabrina Conner whispered.

At this point, he didn’t care if his nose was bleeding. Grabbing Sabrina, who was eavesdropping with him, they were about to make a getaway.

"Get in here!"

The two of them froze like they’d been struck with a paralysis spell, twisting their bodies, standing there not daring to move.

Just as they were contemplating whether to act like they didn’t hear and seize the chance to flee, Adrian Desmond’s voice rang out again, "Barnes, Sabrina, I see you two out there, get in here!"

This time, there was no way they could run.

Sabrina glared at him, "It’s all your fault for insisting on eavesdropping, now we’ve been caught red-handed."

"You enjoyed listening just as much."

Barnes wiped the blood from his nose and calmly walked into the tent. Realizing there was no escaping it, Sabrina braced herself and followed him in.

"Sixth Master..."

"Sixth Master..."

Facing Adrian Desmond, the two of them instantly turned from wolves into rabbits; ever since being disciplined by Adrian, they completely submitted to him.

This is the power of superior strength, much like when a rabbit encounters a fierce wolf and doesn’t dare move, even forgetting to run.

Adrian’s gaze was icy as he stared at them. Although Barnes’ swelling had subsided, the wounds on his face hadn’t healed completely. Sabrina, on the other hand, looked completely nervous.

"Were you eavesdropping?"

"No, Sixth Master, we were just passing by, hehe..." Sabrina explained.

"I think you two have too much free time on your hands."

Barnes couldn’t figure out what Adrian wanted, so he stood still without speaking. Eavesdropping wasn’t exactly a glorious activity, at worst they’d just get beaten up again.

Didn’t Sixth Master say?

The best close quarter combat skills are honed through repeated trials; he might as well consider this practice.

Though he couldn’t defeat Adrian before, he’d always ended up being used as a human punching bag by him.

"Since you two are so idle, go invite Xavier Young’s brother, sister-in-law, and little nephew over here as guests."

Sabrina asked, "Sixth Master, are you planning to take them hostage?"

"Sabrina, you’re talking too much."

"No problem, I guarantee to complete the task successfully." Barnes accepted the task; this was the first official task Adrian had given him.

Even though the task was low-level and required no skill.

"Go on, I expect to see them here by this time tomorrow."

"Sixth Master, do you know where they are?" Sabrina asked.

There was no name or address given, so how were they supposed to bring the people by the next day?

"They’re not my wife, how would I know!"

Barnes: ...

Sabrina: ...

"You two go out and call Alyssa in," Adrian ordered.

"Yes."

The two left the tent to find Brandon Potter.

The camp wasn’t large; when they found Brandon, he was making bird’s nest soup. Seeing the two of them, his gaze fell on the blood on Barnes’ nose, and he chuckled.

"Got disciplined by Sixth Master again? I told you not to eavesdrop, but you wouldn’t listen."

Barnes squatted in front of Brandon, picked up a red date, and tossed it in his mouth, "Do you know what we heard?"

"What?" Gossiping is in a woman’s nature.

"Madam plans to dump Sixth Master and run off with Xavier Young."

"No way."

Sabrina added, "Absolutely true! I heard it loud and clear, Sixth Master is about to lose his mind from anger. I think we shouldn’t bother rescuing anyone, just go take care of that adulterous couple!"

"You two keep quiet! Feeling itchy, huh? Sixth Master’s affairs aren’t for you to discuss! Just settle down, and take a page out of Marion’s book, see how much everyone likes Marion."

Barnes, munching on red dates, said, "Auntie Agatha, could it be you fancy Marion? You should let the flower-like Marion be, and not be the old cow going after young grass, you might not be able to chew it..."

Brandon swung a hand and slapped Barnes, "Barnes, get lost! Don’t let me see you!"

"Sixth Master wants us to capture Xavier Young’s brother and sister-in-law. Help me find out where they are. Sixth Master wants to see them by this time tomorrow."

Seeing it was a serious matter, Brandon didn’t dare delay, and said, "Wait here."

He put the bird’s nest soup aside to cool in the water, so it would be nice to drink later.

Barnes looked at the beautiful golden soup, tempted. Brandon might be bad at cooking, but when it came to making things like beauty-enhancing bird’s nest soup, and non-edible beauty masks, he was a pro.

"Hey, that’s Alyssa’s bird’s nest soup. If you eat it, she’ll get mad again later."

Barnes squatted down and drank it up, not minding how hot it was. Sabrina thought Barnes had been living dangerously ever since leaving the base; following him had brought heaps of trouble lately.

Clearly, she should have followed Marion.

"Found them, they’re at..." Brandon, holding his phone, walked in, only to see Barnes holding a bowl, eating. It was the bird’s nest soup he had carefully brewed for an hour.

"Barnes, give me back my beauty-enhancing bird’s nest soup!"

"It’s in my stomach, how can I give it back?"

"..."

"I’ll vomit it out if you can stomach it; if not, I won’t, it’d be a waste," Barnes said slyly.

Brandon freaked out, looking at Barnes, his expression troubled.

"Get lost! Don’t let me see you again!"

"Alright."

Barnes snatched the phone, checked the info, returned the phone to Brandon, and before leaving, grabbed another handful of dates; doing as he pleased, without formalities.

Watching as not only his bird’s nest soup disappeared, but the dates for the soup were also mostly eaten, Brandon was left speechless.

"What kind of misfortune have I brought upon myself?"
