The burning car reflected in my eyes as I kept recording the people burning it away. I could not see their faces, but satisfaction oozed from their bodies in waves. They stood there like worshippers at an altar, admiring the flas as if the fire itself was their god.
I wished I could hear what they were talking about, but unfortunately, they were too far away from .
I decided to take a chance and get closer to the pair to capture their conversation as well... and to know who the cloaked person was.
My heart hamred so loudly I feared they would hear it before I even stepped out of hiding.
The dense forest around us provided with so cover, and I slowly made my way around. Once I got close enough, I turned on the video feature and started to record.
"-finally for my vengeance. Did this fool really think she could threaten with my secret and I won’t do anything?"
Miss Anabella’s soft voice was no longer charming. Instead, it had madness lacing her every word. Her eyes shook as she looked at the burning car in front of her. She was like a woman overloaded on hate, finally snapping under the weight of her own sins.
"I have finished assisting you on behalf of those special orders. I will be taking my leave now. Please don’t hesitate to use our services another ti."
The man spoke, and I tried to get a good shot of his face. It would be important as critical evidence later against them. I tried to get a good shot of his face, but the man suddenly turned to look at .
His head snapped toward like a predator locking onto prey.
Shadow covered his face, causing to be unable to tell how he looked. But I did know that I had been spotted, and I needed to run now.
Unfortunately, my legs decided to give up at that second, and I was unable to get away. The cloaked man grabbed my arm and pulled out of the hiding spot.
My stomach dropped as everything inside scread that this was the mont people died in horror stories.
"Y-You-! Why are you still alive? I burned you down..."
Miss Anabella’s voice shook as she spoke. Her eyes were raging as she looked between the car and my hurt body.
She quickly connected the dots together and figured out what was happening.
"You managed to get out of the car? What about Damian Black? Did he get out as well. B-But the god has not abandoned yet. He is still on my side. After all, why else would you foolishly crawl back to us?"
Anabella asked, now convinced that this was divine intervention in her favor. But her partner was much more observant than her and grabbed my wrist to make drop my phone.
"What’s this...? A phone? Were you trying to take photos of us? Or video as evidence of what we did? Unfortunately, that is not going to work."
The man told as he took the phone out of my hands before he threw it down and crushed it. And just like that, the very thing I had risked my life to record was gone and hope shattered with the sound of breaking glass.
But that was not the end. The cloaked man grabbed my wrist even harder, and I flinched due to the pain I felt. But the man was not satisfied with this yet. He pulled along until I was almost at my feet once more.
"You have caused us enough trouble. Why don’t you burn the car? As for your partner... judging from the way the car crashed and your own condition, he could not have gone far either. Once we deal with you, we will go after Damian Black-"
I tried to struggle, but I was not able to break out of the grip the other man had on . No matter how much I struggled, there was no breaking free from this.
My nails dug into his arm until they bent painfully - still not enough to loosen his hold.
"Looks like this is the end for you."
The man told as he made my body lean toward the fire. The heat from it licked across my face, and I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the impact. The flas roared like they were welcoming their next sacrifice.
"Aw It burns-"
My body was yanked around, and the sudden pain made open my eyes. I had not been thrown into the fire, and that yell was not mine.
Instead, my hands and feet were scraped by the rocky terrain as my body was thrown away from the fire. The one who had cried out in pain was the man who had tried to burn .
Damian had tackled the cloaked man and thrown him off and into the fire. He had saved my life. He looked like a demon risen from hell, blood-soaked and furious - the kind of fury that didn’t speak, only killed. The flas gave him a subtle red glow as well.
The cloaked man, on the other hand, was not as fortunate.
His cloak had been burned as his side collided with the burning tal. The sll of burning flesh made recoil, and I took a step back, only to collide with a soft yet terrified body behind .
"Y-You-! How can you be alive...? Are you a ghost? Or, has god sent you back to ?"
Anabella seed unable to deal with the shock of what happened. Her eyes were wide open but did not see much. Her mouth opened and closed, but voice no longer ca out of it.
"Tell , Miss Anabella. Do I look like a ghost to you?"
Damian asked, and the female shook even harder as she turned her head around. She wanted to escape and no longer bear the burden of what she actually did. Her sanity crumbled right in front of us - the weight of reality crushing a woman already cracked.
"Hahahaha... no way-! A ghost-? Why is there a ghost here? I- have I gone mad? Is this hell? Have I died as well?"
She asked as Damian approached us both. She took a step back, not wanting to face the man who could beco her executioner any second.
But Damian did not co near her. He stopped near and extended his hand toward to pull up.
"You have not died, Miss Anabella. I will not allow you to die so easily. You still need to pay for the cris you committed against us and all the people whose lives you ruined."
Damian told her, and the female looked hysterical as she tried to control herself. She was no cri lord, but an ordinary person. And unfortunately, her own cris seed to have broken her beyond repair.
I did not feel sorry for her because she did this to herself.
