Chapter 1712: Chapter 1712: The Waxing and Waning of the Moon

After Selina Yu left, Jian Dan turned her gaze to Chu Liyuan, her brows deeply furrowed, eyes wide open, and lips tightly pressed together.

“Chu Liyuan, you better tell honestly, what exactly is your relationship with her?”

Chu Liyuan felt incredibly wronged at that mont. “We just have a normal work relationship!”

“Does a normal work relationship require being glued together every day? And what is the ‘old place’ she ntioned just now?” Jian Dan looked at Chu Liyuan sternly, as if interrogating a suspect.

“Jian Jian, you have to believe , she and I really are just work associates. She intentionally said that, and her personality is really odd!”

“So you understand her so well? Even her personality?” Jian Dan glanced at Chu Liyuan angrily.

“Jian Jian, it’s really not what you think. We have our reasons for being together, but I can’t tell you the reason right now. But you must believe there really is nothing between us.

Besides, she has soone she likes too.”

“Alright, if you want to believe you, stay here with tonight and don’t go anywhere!”

“I’m obviously not going anywhere. What she said just now was deliberately misleading; there’s no ‘old place’ at all!”

“Really?”

“Of course.”

“Okay!”

That night, everyone went ho, leaving only Chu Liyuan to take care of Jian Dan.

“Get so sleep! I’m here!” Chu Liyuan tucked Jian Dan in and placed a kiss on her forehead.

Jian Dan peacefully closed her eyes…

While Chu Liyuan was in the bathroom, he received a text from Selina Yu: “Dear, I’ve been waiting for you for so long, why haven’t you co? The long night is hard to bear alone, won’t you pity in an empty room? Hurry up and co here!” Following the ssage, an address was attached.

Upon seeing the text from Selina Yu, Chu Liyuan furrowed his brows.

Coming out of the bathroom, he walked to the bedside and saw Jian Dan breathing steadily; she must have fallen asleep.

“Jian Jian.” He called softly, and Jian Dan didn’t react. After confirming that she was asleep, he quietly left the hospital room.

The mont Chu Liyuan left the room, Jian Dan’s eyes slowly opened, and tears gently rolled down from the corners.

The night outside the window was very dark, as the moon was but a thin crescent, lonely in the night sky, with even the surrounding stars seemingly brighter, stealing its original shine.

Tears stread from Jian Dan’s eyes, one by one like a rmaid’s tears.

She couldn’t believe the uncle would really change his heart and like soone else, yet she couldn’t understand why her tears wouldn’t stop flowing.

During the ti Chu Liyuan was away, Jian Dan sat on the hospital bed, quietly staring out the window, telling herself that the uncle must have a reason he couldn’t share with her yet.

She didn’t know how long had passed when she heard a noise at the door. She quickly laid back down, tucked herself in, pretending like nothing had happened.

Chu Liyuan returned, looked at Jian Dan still peacefully asleep, and smiled slightly, walking to the bedside trying to kiss her, but Jian Dan turned away at that mont, keeping her eyes closed, looking like a normal shift in sleep.

Chu Liyuan raised his hand, brushing away the hair scattered on Jian Dan’s face, lay beside her, and in just a few seconds felt into a deep sleep.

After sensing Chu Liyuan had fallen asleep, Jian Dan slowly opened her eyes, still filled with tears, her mouth showing a desolate curve.

Jian Dan lay with her eyes open until dawn, only closing them again when she felt the person beside her move.
