Chapter 485: Chapter 485: One-in-10,000 Talented Child
Huo Tingdong said, “Momo and Han are both my sons. Originally, their mother and I got married for the first ti, but after our divorce, we were apart for seven years. We remarried not long ago, and we had a second child.”
Mr. Yi scribbled notes as he listened.
Second child…
They got married after having the second child, so… their remarriage was also due to the baby?
After recording this family information, Mr. Yi closed the file and began to report on the school situation of the two children with Huo Tingdong.
Momo’s performance in school is beyond doubt. He has already completed all junior high school courses ahead of ti, and now he’s studying high school math problems. Therefore, elentary school subjects for him are just child’s play, and he basically scores full marks in exams.
He sweeps all the first places in the grade exams.
If he accidentally ranks second or third in the grade, it’s because the exam questions were too boring, and he accidentally dozed off and missed a few questions.
Mr. Yi lavishly praised Momo’s academic talent. Then, she began to report on Han’s situation at school.
Han’s academics were rather unsatisfactory when he first started school, completely different from Momo. Initially, his exam results were virtually at the bottom of every subject, and sotis, he couldn’t even complete his howork properly.
The school even suspected whether Han had so intelligence issues.
In fact, not only did the school think so, but even Huo Tingdong initially thought Han was a bit slow, having so problems with both his mind and intellect.
However, once Momo started tutoring him, Han’s grades began to improve dramatically.
The progress was so exaggerated, it was as if he had a cheat code, causing subject teachers to suspect Han might be cheating in exams!
But after a long period of observation, they found that Han’s rapid progress was because Momo had been tutoring him all along.
The school was shocked!
Huo Tingdong had indeed hired tutors for Han, but there was no progress; he couldn’t learn. Unexpectedly, Momo taught much better than those tutors.
Actually, they didn’t understand that Momo had captured Han’s attribute as a foodie!
In fact, Han is quite smart. Although he can’t compare to Momo, his IQ is definitely top-notch among his peers.
Momo had studied this too: although children are in their developntal period, each child’s brain develops at different rates during different periods.
So children’s brains develop earlier, so they excel academically from a young age compared to their peers. But as they grow, they might fall behind.
So children have slower brain developnt and don’t excel academically initially, but as they grow and reach the golden period of brain developnt, their academic performance gradually catches up and keeps improving.
Moreover, the brain needs stimulating developnt. Reading more and thinking more help the brain develop faster through these stimuli.
Currently, Han ranks around the top fifteen in school.
At Windsor High School, the grade ranking of 50 is the dividing line.
Those below 50 are in poor condition, getting worse. These students co from wealthy families and aren’t interested in academics, preferring to indulge in eating, drinking, and having fun. As they grow, they develop in the direction of playboys, and at most, when the ti is right, they go abroad to buy their way into good schools for a superficial upgrade, and return
either to squander their wealth or take over family businesses.
Those above 50 are the elites among elites, the higher you go, the more you reach the top of the pyramid. So, being in the top fifteen ans Han’s progress is remarkable enough to astonish people!
In this exam, Han maintained stable performance, ranking fourteenth overall, but his Chinese ranked seventh in the whole grade, whereas math ranked seventeenth.
After reporting on the school’s situation, Mr. Yi politely asked, “Mr. Huo, is it convenient to visit the children’s study rooms?”
Huo Tingdong looked at Momo.
Momo said, “Sure, Mr. Yi, co with us!”
Momo personally led the teacher to tour the study rooms.
The study room was large.
There were two study desks in total.
One of the desks belonged to Han.
On Han’s bookshelf, apart from all kinds of extracurricular assignnts Momo assigned him, it was mostly Lego toys and so art tools.
The more Mr. Yi looked, the more gratified she felt. She browsed so of Han’s extracurricular assignnts, and discovered that each piece of work had red pen annotations. The handwriting with the red pen was neat and beautiful. Having graded Momo’s work before, she imdiately recognized it as Momo’s handwriting.
For Momo, these were all extracurricular assignnts; for Han, they were a blood-and-tears history.
“Han, you’re really amazing!” Mr. Yi praised, “Are all these extra assignnts given to you by Momo?”
Han nodded, “Yeah.”
Mr. Yi asked, “Did he assign you any other extra howork?
Han pointed to the newly assigned extracurricular work, “I’ve finished those books of extracurricular problems, and now he has given new extracurricular assignnts.”
Mr. Yi then walked over to Momo’s desk.
He had a full wall-sized bookshelf, neatly lined with various extracurricular books, reference books, and even original English novels.
The most terrifying thing was…
Many footnotes in the English novels were annotated by Momo in English.
And to Mr. Yi’s astonishnt, Momo had already started studying high school math problems!
This child is incredible!
Usually, Momo’s performance at school offers a glimpse, but after visiting his study corner, it beca clear… Momo had already previewed up to high school level!
He’s only eight years old!
Though there are other child prodigies like Momo in this world… seeing is believing. If Momo weren’t standing right there, Yi ng would find it hard to believe that such gifted children truly exist!
Yi ng picked up a book by Socrates.
Socrates was an ancient Greek philosopher.
On the title page of the original text, there was a bookmark with a classic Socrates quote: “The hottest love has the coldest end.”
Yi ng found it a bit surprising.
Momo actually had an interest in studying philosophy.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Momo, can you understand these books?”
Momo replied, “Mr. Yi, is there a problem with reading these books?”
Mr. Yi said, “For example, this sentence, ‘The hottest love has the coldest end.’ You’re only 8, what do you know about love, can you understand what love is?”
Momo slightly smiled, “You’re 25, Mr. Yi, 17 years older than . Do you understand love?”
Yi ng was montarily stunned by the question.
She squatted down, curiously looking at him, “Mr. Yi might not understand love. Then Momo, how do you understand what love is?”
