The headmaster's na changed from Cornelius to Sirius.
Also, I will be updating the synopsis soon so make sure to check it for the new update schedule.
=====
World of virtual reality. An advanced scientific technology to create artificial worlds where a human being has control over his imagination. However, this technology is still in the early stages so for now senses haven't been integrated into that.
The story becos different when magic becos involved in that. Of course, it is not exactly virtual reality as the events in this case are already predetermined.
The outcos are limited and several choices lead to several outcos. Anyway, that is enough for that.
As I have ntioned before, there are artifacts in this world that can create virtual events. Sothing that has already happened in history or sothing that might not have happened but is a test created by an individual based on his imagination.
Such one test is this artifact. It isn't an inheritance artifact but a test to gauge the potential of different individuals. Those who can pass it those who can't.
A filtration test one might say.
In this test, your ntal capacity is gauged. However, it is bullsh*t because you can't expect such a thing from these children who have just begun their journey.
"You will be transferred in ten seconds. Prepare yourself." Desmond said in a loud voice as we were gathered in an arena in the middle of which, a pillar had been raised on which lay a crystal ball of purple color.
"You have two days to finish the test. You will have to do what you think is correct according to the scenario. Rember, your choice may lead to several outcos so be careful of what you choose to do." Desmond instructed.
Then he added after a short pause, "Also rember, you fail when you die so don't die. Anything else you choose to do will be ranked."
He ended his explanation just in ti as well when light engulfed all of us and the next mont I opened my eyes, I was standing in the midst of a desert all alone. It should have been hot in this desert but the temperature was very normal.
In the distance, I could see a city. Ruins would be a more accurate word for it but it was a city for sure. The test had already begun and even an idiot could tell where to go.
But that isn't how the event goes.
"Mister." Just a few seconds into the test, I heard a cute and innocent voice. I turned to see a child no more than seven standing there in the desert barefoot.
For , the temperature was regulated, but for him, it wasn't. He really was standing in a hot scorching desert given how red and torn his feet were.
"What happened?" I worriedly asked as I knelt before him. He flinched when I tried to get near him but he didn't remain vigilant of for long.
Seeing pay attention and show gentle behavior, he began to lose his guard and started to cry. He first sniffled, then sobbed and then fully started to cry while saying, "They took them… they took all of them."
He said between sobs and sniffles. He looked so pitiful that it would be difficult even for the devil not to feel pity.
"Who? Who took who?" I asked once he had cald down sowhat after a few minutes.
"They… They took my mum and dad. They took everyone's mum and dad." He again began to cry while answering my question.
"It's all right. It's all right. Calm down. Stop crying." I started to console him gently. Anyone could tell that he was hurt and I had to be extrely gentle so as to not hurt him even more.
"They… they will co and… co and take us too." He started to cry even harder while in my embrace.
[Such a pity]
'Yeah. Such a pity. But I will kill them anyway.'
"Don't worry. I won't let anyone hurt you." I said with a smile once he had stopped crying.
"You… You won't?" He asked, unsure whether I was telling the truth or just trying to trick him.
"Of course. I won't let anyone hurt you nor let anyone take you." I couldn't after all. It was the sole purpose of the test.
He stopped crying after a few minutes and once he was completely done, I asked him with a smile, "Why don't you tell everything?"
"Umm," He nodded and said, "My mum and dad are the village chiefs. One day, a bad man ca and asked us to leave. My mum and dad refused so they sent more bad people to bully us."
"Still, my mum and dad never gave in to their bad demands. They were very brave but one day, they sent the worst people in the world to hurt everyone. Everyone's mum and dad fought them but no one survived. Those who did were taken away."
He had started crying mid-story but still completed his tale in words that unsuited a child. His vocabulary was very advanced for a child.
And the detail. A distraught child may not be able to rember such a detail. He must be very intelligent. That is what I would like to say but the story is entirely sothing else.
"What is your na?" I gently asked.
"Ar… Arbort." He replied between small sobs.
"Why don't you take to the village so I can see what I can do to help you, Arbort?" I asked the child who promptly nodded with a bright smile on his face. A genuine smile. One might think it's because of hope.
He took my hand and guided even though I could see the village. Reaching the village, I saw houses made of clay like those of old settlents in deserts.
I hadn't even properly entered the village when a stone was thrown at which I effortlessly dodged.
"Another one, run him away." A girl of small stature and blonde hair shouted. At her shout, several other children appeared from behind the houses, ready to throw stones at when Arbort, stood in front of and shouted, "Don't! He is a good person! He is not with the bullies!"
At Arbort's testimony, the children hesitated and stopped mid-swing. The girl who threw the rock at shouted back at Arbort, "Arbort, how can you be so sure? They are all liars."
She made a sound point but I was amazed at sothing else. It was very well rehearsed.
"Don't worry. He is not a bad person. He said he will help us fight those bullies and get mum and dad back." Arbort answered at which many children's eyes started twinkling while the girl was still skeptical.
"He could be lying." She made another sound point which again made realize how well-rehearsed it was.
Arbort didn't reply. Instead, he turned to and asked innocently, "You are not lying, are you?"
[Ahh… So cute!!!]
Yeah. Deadly. Quite literally.
"Of course, I am not," I replied with a very gentle smile that would convince even an expert lawyer even if all the evidence was against .
[You are quite good at coercing children]
'Shut up.'
"See." Arbort turned to say excitedly to the girl who seed sowhat convinced now.
Ignoring all of this, I asked Arbort, "Why don't you go and get everyone so I can explain to them what I plan to do at once?"
He nodded to my instruction vehently and ran away along with a few other children to gather the rest of them.
It took about ten minutes but everyone was now in the town's square. There were only about fifty of them. They were all dressed in rags. Their faces were full of dirt and a few odd scratches here and there.
Just the sight was enough to evoke empathy even in the devil.
[Not in you though]
'Yeah, I mastered the art of being a heartless monster.'
And why would I anyway? The truth was sothing horrifying.
"Are these all of them?" I asked Arbort who ca running next to like a child who did a good job and is waiting to be complinted.
"Yes. These are all my friends." He replied. I nodded and took a higher platform from the kids and stared down at them.
A speech was coming. "Children. Arbort here has told what happened to you. It was a heart-wrenching story and believe ! I couldn't help but feel angry at those who have done such evil deeds!"
"So I vow. I vow to punish those evil people and blow their heads off. I will end them painfully and save you all!" The children beca more excited the more I spoke. They were all filled with hope.
And that was why, it was ti to end this speech with a bang. Literally.
[Magic bullet]
I used the skill and the leg of Arbort standing next to exploded. He couldn't understand for a second before a painful shriek spread throughout the village.
The rest of the children beca terrified at the sight but before they could do anything, I again spoke while conjuring a thousand 'Magic Bullets', "Don't worry. I will kill you all painfully and in doing so, save you. I promised, didn't I?"
And then I unleashed all of the bullets at the arms, legs, organs, and every other part where it would hurt the most but their death would only prolong.
=====
Desmond and Michelle stared wide eyes at the screen in astonishnt and a little bit of horror mixed in. The rest of the professors and instructors in the room were terrified and horrified. There was no astonishnt in their gazes.
"Even… even though it is what the test is, isn't it too inhumane?" A female instructor spoke.
Desmond wanted to agree with her but even he knew that although inhumane, what Adrian did was the right course of action.
"What has he been doing for the past three months?" Desmond asked instead of answering.
Michelle, standing next to him replied, "He didn't take any optional classes but he spent the first three weeks in the library after compulsory classes."
"And what did he read?" Desmond asked.
"Everything," Michelle replied. Desmond couldn't believe what he had heard so he asked to be sure, "Everything?"
"From the most useless book to the most important book. From every historical event to every fairy tale and even so erotic stories, he read them all." Michelle explained that surprised not only Desmond but everyone else as well.
"How many more students went to the library?" Desmond asked after that.
"Him, Rose Roosevelt, Alicia mon Grante, and Laura Ravenknight. All belonging to the sa group." Michelle replied.
Desmond hurriedly widened the magical crystals that displayed every student's progress and as expected, the other three girls were also doing sothing the sa although not inhumanely like Adrian. Those girls were hesitating.
Michelle, however, from the side asked, "Has anyone else ever done anything like that before?"
No reply ca for a while but then an old voice filled with life ca, "Only once in the history of the academy."
Michelle turned to look at the director of the academy. She was asking with her eyes, 'Who?'
Sirius de Salazar, the director of the Bellator Academy rembered a certain white-haired boy from his mory and replied, "His father. The nightmare of the empire."
A chill went down the spines of the old professors sitting in the room while Desmond also briefly rembered a man who had white hair.
Michelle wanted to ask further but seeing the reactions from the elders in the room, she decided to leave her questions for later.
=====
"Huu…" I feel fresh. It feels good to slaughter after such a long ti.
[…]
"What?" Since there was no one around, I didn't bother speaking in my mind. There was the chance of the professors listening, but I doubt my speaking to myself would surprise them given my maniacal actions so far.
[At least you are aware]
"Tell Alicia's state," I asked Allison since I was quite worried for her.
[She's fine]
[Small ntal damage but she will be fine once you console her]
"Can I console her while rubbing her?"
[Where?]
"Where do you think?"
[Whatever she allows]
"That's surprising," I replied. But then again, I thought back to all Alicia-related conversations between and Allison and I realized, it wasn't that surprising.
