"..."
Lereon, who broke into a light sweat, looked sharply behind him.
Erwin Linster, an S-rank teacher, was unconscious as his body was stuck in the wall of a barely intact building.
"Finally so silence~" Deara stated contently.
Lereon shifted his gaze at her.
"What? That geezer just wouldn’t shut up so I silenced him." Deara justified herself.
He sighed.
"Hm?"
Deara tilted her head, watching Lereon walk over to a pile of rubble.
He proceeded to sit down.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"It’s still unclear to what your goal is nor do I know what you’re really capable of. Also, from looking at my colleague I can tell that it would be foolish to approach you carelessly." Lereon replied sternly.
"However, it seems to like you won’t do anything for now. Therefore, I shall watch you for the ti being. As long as you don’t make a move, I won’t do so either." he added, fixing his glasses.
An eerie and also excited grin crept onto Deara’s face.
"How interesting..." she muttered.
Her words were not directed at Lereon but at the scene, which was about to unfold behind the wall in her sight.
"I can see the wall!" Mika shouted while panting.
Following the system’s advice, Mika decided to head to the west gate after defeating the B-rank demon Clara.
He was not too exhausted yet, however, the wounds he received from Clara were still untreated.
On his body were a few cuts but luckily they were not deep cuts.
"..."
Mika looked at his right chest and shoulder.
There were three cuts, which were deeper than the other cuts.
[It was mainly your fault.]
"I know, I know. I think I got too careless when I used this power for the first ti."
Mika had used his newest ability to slow down ti against Clara.
At that mont, he, who was unaffected by the ability, dashed towards Clara and was about to swing his sword.
But at the sa ti, Clara reflexively aid her sharp strings at him.
And as he was naive, thinking that Clara could not react to him, he got hit before he slashed her.
Mika sighed after thinking about his mistake.
"Now I know how to use this ability. I won’t make a mistake next ti!" Mika said determinedly.
[And that ti is now.]
"!"
After the system’s words, Mika sensed the pressure of three strong individuals heading towards him.
First, a huge shadow hovered over Mika.
The earth rumbled for a mont when a gigantic Dayn landed on the ground, cutting off Mika’s way.
"This ti, I won’t fail." Dayn stated in a deep tone.
Then, Zaran appeared behind Mika.
"I won’t let you go to her." he said with his blade pointed at the back of Mika’s head.
And shortly after him, Olivia arrived, attempting to kick Zaran away, who predicted her attack and dodged accordingly.
"..."
Mika nervously looked around him.
In front of him was Dayn and behind him was Zaran.
He gritted his teeth, knowing that he almost arrived at his goal.
His gaze shifted to Olivia.
Mika thought that if he was alone, then he could have eventually escaped on his own. However, with Olivia here he could not do that as he would have then left her behind with two A-rank demons.
Zaran chuckled silently.
"I have to correct you, Mika Elbar." he began explaining in a tense tone.
"Even if you were alone, you can’t escape from here." he finished, looking down at Mika.
Mika jumped away.
"How did-"
[He can read your mind.]
"He’s right."
Mika’s eyes widened.
"I can read your naive thoughts and hear his voice in your head." Zaran elaborated, pointing with a finger above him.
[...]
Instinctively, Mika grabbed his sword.
"?"
But he could not draw it as Olivia stopped him from doing so.
"Leave him to ." she said with a grin.
Sweat rolled down his face. He still did not let go of his sword.
"You have sothing to do, right? Don’t mind and go then." she added reassuringly.
"Can you really handle them? They’re A-rank- Ack!"
Mika rubbed his forehead with a pained expression after Olivia suddenly flicked her finger on his head.
"You’re speaking to the captain of the Grand Order, you know?"
"Wha..."
He let out a blunt sound in astonishnt and shock.
It was his first ti hearing about that.
"C-captain o-of the G-"
"Get your ass moving already. We can talk later!" Olivia commanded sternly.
"Y-y-yes!"
Mika unconsciously planned his next steps.
But doing so was a fatal mistake.
"So you’re able to manipulate ti, too?" Zaran muttered apathetically.
Zaran appeared beside Mika, who was about to transform.
His sword was in the air and was about to strike him down.
"I’m your opponent!"
Olivia ddled between them as she kicked against the blade, leading its slashing course astray.
"..."
Mika, who also dodged just in case, got off with a small cut.
He rolled on the ground and stood up right away.
"Every single one of you..."
"?"
Mika twisted his neck behind and saw Dayn, who tried to suppress his anger.
"Why is everyone underestimating ?!" he raised his voice in rage.
Back in his original size, he dashed to Mika.
Dayn tried to pull the sa move he used on Elsa.
"!"
However, Olivia unexpectedly rushed to him with her fist already on its way to him.
"Keh...!"
He managed to put up his arms just in ti but was still pushed away.
In the anti, Mika was able to transform without interruptions.
"Didn’t he tell you? I know what’s going on in your mind."
Zaran got in front of Mika with his hands clenching his sword.
Ti slowed down.
Mika used his new ability again to slow down the ti.
And even though the ti was slower, Zaran’s sword movent was still fast.
He dodged it completely and focused on getting away.
"The ti is slower and yet he moves just like a regular S-rank mage!" Mika stated nervously and impressed.
"..."
Zaran’s eyes were focused on Mika as he followed after him.
Mika, who engulfed himself with lightning to enhance his speed, was moving at a fast pace but despite that, Zaran appeared to be moving at the sa pace in the slowed world.
The effect of ti manipulation slowly disappeared.
[10 seconds is the limit. You need to wait a little until you can use this ability again.]
"!"
With wide-open eyes, Zaran retracted his sword.
[48 seconds left.]
Mika’s eyes were glued on the blade, which was about to slash him.
"Ugh!" he groaned.
"Hrngh...!"
Olivia kicked Mika in the stomach, which sent him flying.
However, at the sa ti, she received on her back the sword attack, which was previously aid at Mika.
"You imbecile." Zaran insulted her in a threatening tone.
"..."
With a ragged breath and one knee on the ground, she smirked at Zaran.
"Whatever."
Zaran spread his wings and was about to fly over to Mika.
"Wait."
Olivia grabbed his leg.
"..."
Seemingly, losing his patience, he raised his sword.
But again, he got interrupted when soone else sent her flying in the southwestern direction with an enlarged fist.
"I will take care of her." Dayn said.
"..."
He did not say anything and just scowled before he took off.
"..."
"..."
anwhile, Lereon and Deara stared each other indifferently in the eyes.
"..."
"..."
Since Lereon decided to watch her, he did not utter a single word from his mouth.
And nor did Deara.
However, from ti to ti, she shifted her gaze to sothing far behind him.
Lereon, who knew that there was the wall, separating the capital from the academy, ignored her strange gesture. After all, she still did not move an inch of her body.
They continued their staring.
"?"
But then, Lereon sensed two people coming their way.
"Finally..." Deara muttered with an excited grin.
From above, Mika crashed into a nearby building.
"Damn it... Did she have to kick so hard...?" he complained, clenching his stomach with a hand while removing the rubble from him with the other hand.
[She truly is a special person. Even though he read her mind, he could not keep up with her actions.]
"But that strength was not normal for a human..." Mika replied with a sigh.
His appearance changed back when he was in the air.
"How much ti do I have left?"
[44 seconds.]
"I see."
He finally got up.
"Hm? Leon Panty?"
"Lereon Pantl." Lereon corrected Mika with a sharp and vexed glare.
Ignoring him, Mika shifted his field of vision to the other person.
"You’re Mika Elbar, right? Oh, how long I have waited for you to co!" Deara said delighted, clasping his hands together.
"?!"
He was taken aback, seeing a demon flashing a joyous smile at him.
The aura he felt from her was similar to Zaran.
[Another A-rank.]
Deara let go of his hands and put so distance between them.
"Where are my manners? Let introduce myself fir-"
However, Zaran almost cut her in halves.
"Zaran."
She evaded the attack.
Her tone and expression turned grim at his sight.
"Deara."
His tone was also not pleasant.
Instead of comradery, the air around the two was hostile.
"Are you out of your mind?"
"When did I give you permission to read my mind?"
Zaran heaved a sigh before he readied his sword.
"Do you think I would let you do that?"
Deara grinned.
"Today, I will kill you and reclaim my number 2 spot!"
