Chapter 643: Chapter 643: Zhang Chaoping Tattles
While Ji Yang was conducting his inspection there, Zhang Chaoping had gone to the provincial committee.
Looking toward Yan Guozhen, the provincial committee secretary, Zhang Chaoping appeared very respectful.
“How is your work situation?” Yan Guozhen was also very concerned about the work situation in Ximu City. After all, the problems there were too serious and needed to be quickly turned around.
Zhang Chaoping reported on everything he knew, and after completing the report, he said, “Leader, since we arrived, everyone has been working very hard. It’s just that Mr. Ji Yang, perhaps due to his youth, has only been conducting research up until now. He hasn’t achieved anything notable yet, and so people are starting to form their opinions about him.”
Clearly, this was tantamount to snitching—speaking ill of Ji Yang in such a way.
Zhang Chaoping had also been observing Ji Yang’s performance secretly and had not seen any notable achievents, so he took this opportunity to badmouth Ji Yang.
Yan Guozhen’s expression suddenly beca severe as he said, “You are the team leader. You need to do more work and unite everyone for the task.”
Yan Guozhen naturally detected the implication in Zhang Chaoping’s words. He had so thoughts about Ji Yang, whom Governor Zhou had brought in. The covert struggle between him and Governor Zhou had been quite intense recently. Ji Yang was Governor Zhou’s man—could he use this opportunity to knock on Ji Yang to probe Governor Zhou?
Yan Guozhen began to ponder.
After so thought, Yan Guozhen felt that handling this matter had to be done in a way that would leave Governor Zhou without any room for rebuttal.
“In this case, I will arrange a eting with Governor Zhou. We will visit Ximu City in a couple of days to hear your work report.”
Zhang Chaoping’s eyes lit up, realizing that Yan Guozhen intended to use this to strike at Ji Yang. If Ji Yang failed to present a plan by then, Yan Guozhen could use it as a pretext to reprimand Ji Yang, thus undermining Ji Yang’s credibility and causing him to lose face in his next steps.
“Please rest assured, leader, we will do our work well.”
Yan Guozhen was pleased with Zhang Chaoping. This young man had always sided with him, and now that he understood Yan Guozhen’s intentions, he could indeed use the situation in Ximu to embarrass Governor Zhou.
After leaving Yan Guozhen’s office, Zhang Chaoping was in high spirits. So far, Ji Yang had not achieved anything, whereas he himself was close to securing an investnt of ten million. Besides, he was in charge of the old city reconstruction, and although he hadn’t spent much money on these projects, they were still considered significant accomplishnts. Not to ntion the Party affairs work—although he hadn’t done much there, at least sorting out the organizational levels was a considerable achievent.
Looking at the other comrades, they had also attracted varying amounts of investnt, with each person securing millions.
Comparing these achievents, Ji Yang had not secured any investnt yet, which made his capability as a city mayor seem severely inadequate.
Better not to say anything out loud for now, wait and give Ji Yang a surprise!
Zhang Chaoping decided not to disclose that the provincial committee leaders were planning to visit Ximu City. He resolved not to give Ji Yang any chance.
Back in Yan Guozhen’s office, Yan Guozhen thought about it and decided not to imdiately inform Governor Zhou about the matter. He planned to bring it up the next day; a sudden move would an that even if Governor Zhou wanted to help Ji Yang, he would not be able to do so. Then, Yan Guozhen himself could use this issue as a pretext for a stern lecture to Ji Yang.
With this thought in mind, Yan Guozhen decided to bring along additional people for the visit, and even include the dia from the province, to let everyone see for themselves the calibre of the personnel arranged by Governor Zhou.
Yan Guozhen clearly understood Zhang Chaoping’s little sche and was happy to see it; such thinking was indeed helpful to himself.
He called his secretary in and instructed him to further investigate the situation in Ximu City. Through Ji Yang’s case, it was ti to stir up so trouble for Governor Zhou’s faction.
Yan Guozhen also knew that Ji Yang had so background, but now that he was in a fight with Governor Zhou, what difference did it make if Ji Yang had so backing? At their level, they no longer needed to consider too many people.
