Oberon was still ruminating over what the old man had told him, he was determined to find his child but for now he had to take matters in his own hands.
He went back to the palace, keeping a straight face, careful not to display emotional nonsense in front of them.
"I will show them what it really ans to cheat on no one else but the king," he said to himself.
He walked to the palace as quietly as he had left in the first place.
Getting to the living room, he saw Selena on her knees, her face wet with tears.
He rolled his eyes sarcastically, "You.. what are you doing on your knees?"
She sniffed, "Oberon," she called.
"Do not dare saying my na, it is my lord to you," he said, his eyes burning but his voice cool.
"My lord," she sniffed, *I swear, I can explain."
"Explain what exactly? Explain your wrong?"
She shook her head, "It is not what you think it is, I promise, I can explain."
He bit his lips, "How is it then? Selena you could actually commit such an atrocity, with my beta?"
She pald her face, feeling so bad and ashad, "There is no explaining to do, who knows how many more evils you have done in all these while now?"
She shook her head trying to defend herself so vehently, "No! That is not what it is, at least hear out."
"What is there to hear? You literally slept with another man, my own beta, in my palace, in my chambers!"
Tears stung her eyes, "Would you bla ? No you would not! None of this is my fault!"
He tightened his lips, "Whose fault is it? Mine?"
She looked away, "I would have said so, but no," she said softly.
He squinted his eyes dangerously, "Are you trying to say I am the reason you cheated on ?"
She shook her head, "You barely have ti for , what were you expecting to do? Die in silence?"
Oberon’s jaws dropped in shock, "What do you an by that? Even after what you made pass through?"
She bit her lips, "It is not my fault I could nit produce a child, then who are you supposed to bla? There is no way I am taking that bla upon myself," she said adamantly.
"Do dare raising your voice at !"
She looked at him and shook her head, "I am sorry, I did not an to, but you should also know that everything here is your fault, if you had ti for , then none of this would have happened," she bit her lips.
Oberon’s heart fell, Nyx would never talk in this manner to him, though it was absurd, he was beginning to miss her presence the more.
"Do you even know what you have done implies? You cheated on and you still have the guts to challenge ?" His eyes were now red with fury.
She didn’t flinch this ti, she looked at him straight in the eyes, "I would not have done what I did today if you had given what I wanted, what husband neglects his wife just like that?"
He was short of words, he looked around, there was no one there, his head was not clear and he was getting furious by the minute.
He walked towards her in fury, grabbed her hand and led her outside, "You are hurting , stop," she cried.
"I better do this, you are so not serious at all," he gritted his teeth.
"Stop hurting , leave my hand alone!"
He tightened the grip around her wrist, and walked outside furiously.
"What is the aning of this? Stop hurting !" She yelled.
Oberon stopped and looked at her; she just yelled at him. He wasn’t preparing for anything worse, "Did you just yell at ?"
She wriggled her hand out of his grip, "Leave alone, who do you even think you are!"
The noise was slowly attracting the servants and guards who were around.
"What is going on?"
"Is lady Selena raising her voice at the king?"
"Oh my goodness, this is unbelievable!"
The servants murmured amongst themselves.
Oberon looked at the servants, giving them a cold glare, in fear, they all scurried inside to avoid any punishnt coming from him.
He returned his gaze back to Selena, "You really did this to .. first you cheat on , and now you are being disrespectful," he smiled, a smile of pain, anguish, anger, fury.
"You will be punished Selena, trust , it is not going to be a light punishnt."
She looked at him, her gaze unwavering, "Do your worst!" Her voice broke, "But in all, you are the one at fault, there is no way you can deny that, there is no way any one can deny this!"
He closed his eyes, his heart racing, "Stop talking," he said coldly.
"Since, you thought it best to be this way, an execution you shall face," he said this and walked out on her.
"You know very well what you did! You can not change the fact!"
He clenched his fists and continued walking.
"Do not try to deny the truth, accept it for once Oberon! You know the truth!"
He closed his eyes, trying to get her words out of his head.
"Go back and tell yourself that you did sothing wrong!"
Those words pierced his ears like a sword, he stopped in his tracks,the flashbacks of what the old man had said kept making cobacks. He suddenly felt weak and rested on the wall for support.
"Nyx," he said softly, "I did sothing bad," he shook his head, wallowing in self pity.
Though he knew part of what Selena said was the truth, he tried to deny it with his present fury.
He turned slowly and faced her, his heart twisting with a great sorrow, "I would still call you wrong, but you speak the truth," he said softly.
"I am only an unlucky man after all," he bit his lips, turned around and walked away.
Nyx must be found.
