Nyx held Archi’s hand and together they headed for the door. Archi was in tears, "Mother why are we leaving father?" He asked, his voice cracked.
"We have to protect him, I do not want to harm him anymore with my presence."
"What do you an? How are we harming him?"
"Yes, I want an answer to that question too."
She stopped in her tracks, and turned around to see Dora, who held her baby in her arms.
"Why are you leaving?"
"Dora I have to go."
"My mother just died Nyx, you want to leave amidst all these?"
"I am sorry, but I can not stay around any longer. I would not want to cause any trouble."
Dora’s eyes wanted, "What do you an my that? We need you around! Since when did you beco trouble?"
"You will not understand Dora, please let go. I have to," she turned on her heels, and walked a few steps to the door.
"You can not leave! What are you thinking?" She cried.
"Dora do not make matters worse I beg you," she stated firmly, "I am doing this for the good of everyone here!" She turned again to face Dora.
She flared up, "Good of everyone? Really Nyx? What good are you talking about? Leaving us in the middle of mourning my mother?!"
"She is your mother, mourn her then, who is stopping you?!"
Dora was taken aback by her words, "Nyx?"
"Please stop all these drama, you are making spit out harsh words!"
A tear slid down Dora’s cheeks, "I thought we were friends?"
"We were?" Nyx arched a brow.
Her lips quivered, "If you really are my friend, you are supposed to sit here with , and empathize with ! But no, you just want to leave with a claim that you are doing us good?"
"What has gotten into you?" Nyx asked, her voice barely a whisper.
"I should be asking you that question? What has gotten into you?"
"Dora try to understand , I can not stay here any longer. Believe when I say this is for the good of everyone.," she tried to make Dora reason with her.
"If so, why did you co here in the first place?!"
Nyx gasped, and covered her mouth with her right hand, did Dora really ask her that?
Archi watched both of the most important won in his life fight over sothing he still didn’t understand.
"You both should not fight anymore. We can talk about this," he squeezed his mother’s hand gently.
Nyx was hurt by Dora’s words, "Oh, I can see you have changed Dora. Well, of course I did nothing, I was not the one who helped your brother get his throne back. I did nothing at all," she smiled bitterly, grabbed Archi, turned on her heels and walked briskly towards the door.
Dora realised the gravity of her words, and imdiately regretted it, "Nyx wait! I am sorry, please do .it go. Wait!" She called out, but Nyx paid no attention to her.
She hurried after Nyx, her baby still in her arms, "Nyx wait! Stop! Hear out, I did not an to sound that like that!"
"Of course you did not," she sneered in response.
"Mother she is running after us," Archi told her.
Nyx turned around, and in her horror, she sighted a stone which Dora didn’t notice. She could trip, and hurt herself and the baby.
"Dora wait! Do not move any further!" she warned.
Dora paused, heeding to her advice.
Nyx walked back briskly, and took the stone out of the way, "Watch where you are going, we do not want you or the baby getting hurt."
Dora bit her lips, her eyes tearing up, "Please Nyx, I am sorry, do not leave."
Nyx held her shoulders, "I am sorry, staying any longer would cause a lot of damage. I would not want that."
"What damage are you even talking about? Oberon would not allow it."
Nyx looked away, "Goodbye Dora," she turned on her heels, and walked back to where Archi was.
"Let us go."
"Are we really leaving mother?" He gripped her palm.
"We have no choice," she sniffed.
"Why? What harm are you talking about?"
"I wish I could explain right now, but I can not. Let us go."
"Where are we even going to?"
"Our cottage. Where else?"
Archi croaked, "I would miss father," he sobbed.
Nyx exhaled deeply, trying not to cry in front of him, "That is okay Archi. We have to leave."
"Nyx? You really want to leave us?" Dora yelled after her.
This ti, Nyx did not respond, She didn’t want to. She held Archi’s hand, and led him out of the palace while Dora watched.
Dora fell on her knees in despair, "No!" She cradled her baby close to her chest, while still on the floor.
Guards ca to usher her inside, but she refused, "Soone should stop Nyx from leaving! Go call Oberon! He has to stop her!" She yelled at them, but it seed Oberon was the one who gave them orders to bring her inside.
"Co on my Lady, let us go inside," one of them took the baby from her, while helping her to her feet.
"Where is Oberon? He can not stop her from leaving?" She fud, and stord off into the palace.
"Oberon! Oberon! Why are you letting Nyx leave?!" She yelled so hard.
There was no response, so she has to go to his study room where he would likely be. She found him there staring outside the window. He was watching Nyx and his son leave with a broken heart.
"You are watching them leave?" She asked him in disbelief.
There was no response from him, he remained silent.
"Oberon I am talking to you!" She stord to his side, and yanked his arm but the look in his eyes made her flinch.
"Leave," he told her coldly, his voice dripping with dread.
"What?"
"You heard . Leave," he retuned his gaze to the window.
She clenched her fists, and walked out of the study room.
He watched them walk away till they were out of his sight. As much as he wanted to, he couldn’t stop them, which broke his heart even more. He slowly clenched his fists.
A side of him which was long dead had been awakened today.
