XAVIER

Not long after Nylah walked out of the dining room, I too stood up and excused myself.

"Where are you going? You barely touched your food." Ivy asked with a confused expression on her face.

"I’ve lost my appetite." I replied as I walked out of the hall.

What was she thinking bringing Nylah into the dining room to discuss such a sensitive issue?

Even though I avoided Nylah and still couldn’t deny the hatred I felt for her, I didn’t want her to know about no babies. And I wasn’t even ready for so kids yet.

Hell, I didn’t even know if what I was doing would lead to my doom. Having kids with Ivy could an doom and a journey of no return.

I wasn’t ready for that yet.

"Where to Alpha?" The driver in the car I hopped into asked as soon as I settled down at the back seat.

"Take to work." I replied and the driver stepped on the accelerator.

I got to work but was not in the mood to do anything and it seed like Brian noticed it.

He approached with two cups in his hands.

He handed one and sat opposite .

"What are you thinking about this ti?" He asked, sipping the hot coffee from his cup.

It’s Ivy, she’s going so fast I can barely keep up to her pace." I complained and he arched his brow swiftly and returned them to their usual positions as if telling ’I told you so’ with his brows.

"Can you imagine that she called Nylah to join us for breakfast and I thought we were about to have a reunion or sothing only for to hear Nylah feeding in on whether Ivy can conceive an heir for or not." I complained bitterly but Brian only let out little nods.

"You’re not going to say anything?" I asked when he took another long sip from his cup.

He looked up cluelessly at , surprised and confused that I was asking him to say sothing.

"What do you expect to say? Ivy wants to have an heir for her future husband. If you ask , she is doing what a lot of Luna’s would do to secure the throne so I see no reason why you are so pissed."

"If anything, Nylah is the only one who has the right to get pissed because it seems like the both of you are rubbing it on her face that Ivy is planning for an heir." He explained and I let out a sigh.

"So my feelings are underrated." I muttered and grabbed the cup I had previously placed on the table and took big gulps to calm the anger brewing inside .

"Why are you still keeping the girl there when you have no need of her? The two will keep clashing and you know that." He spoke rather calmly.

I gritted my teeth.

"Why are you even here? What are you doing at the office?" I asked, frustrated by his presence. He shrugged and told another sip.

His sips were beginning to frustrate .

"Well, I ca to help a friend who is entangled with marriage preparations. I figured you might still be walking around the pack with Ivy’s hand locked in yours as you introduce her to everyone who cares to listen that she is the one you are getting married to soon."

"The position at the office would be vacant and so, i decided to help you not lose your job." He finished and I scoffed.

"I can’t lose my job, it’s not possible."

"Until you see it happen right before your eyes." He replied and my smile wiped off my face.

"How long has it been since you checked on your brother?" He asked and I shrugged.

"Can’t rember. Any problem with him?" I asked and shook his head. "Not sure. I saw him talking with the old man at the pack yesterday night. I don’t know if that is sothing we should take seriously though." He inford and I nodded.

"I don’t think it deserves our worry. The old man is quite the figure at the pack now and everyone wants to seek his advice on all of their decisions. I heard that so wolves even go as far as asking him when they should conceive their next cub." I replied, a grin on my face.

Brian stood to his feet, crumpling the empty paper cup in his hand.

"Just saying though, you never know what he is capable of doing or asking. You let him loose too much without an eye on him and it can be dangerous." He spoke as he trashed the paper cup.

My grin morphed into a frown.

"You should receive an award for destroying my smile everyti." I replied and he waved with a hand.

"You’re at the office now. There is no need for to be here." With those words, he walked out of my office.

My mind was ssed up but I decided I wasn’t going to think about what was happening around and just focus on work but I should have known that it was not going to work.

Loud footsteps echoed through the hallway and stopped at my door but I didn’t even get a chance to speak, my door was pushed open and an angry Ivy walked into my office.

She was practically fuming and looked like a lioness who ca for revenge.

"What is the problem?" I asked, seeing how angry she was.

She didn’t reply for the first few seconds and dropped the bag she clung on to on my desk and placed her hands on her waist.

"When were you going to tell ?" She asked, her brows furrowed with anger.

"What? Tell you what?"

"When were you going to co clean about your feelings towards her? Did you plan on pulling along like a fool?!" She asked again, her voice breaking from hurt.

I dragged a palm down my face asking myself why nothing ever works out for .

"Who are you talking about and what do you an?"I asked, airing my frustration.

"I wouldn’t know who you are talking about if you don’t say it. I don’t read minds, you know." My voice was pleading at this point.

To think that I left the pack just to escape discussions like this but was still t with the very thing I was running away from.

"Nylah." Ivy’s voice broke as she called her na.

"It’s about Nylah. You told her you wanted her even after coming to beg my father for my hand. You told her how much you didn’t want to even look at my face! Am I that despicable?" she asked, breaking into tears.

I was confused but I tried not to act too confused else I might provoke her even more.

"Okay, calm down first of all." I stretched both hands out in a bid to calm her down but she had already broken into tears.

"Who told you all these? These are lies Ivy. I never said any of those." I replied but deep within , I knew that what she said was exactly how I felt.

How did Ivy expect to love her after all the forces she and her father had pulled to make marry her? They treated like I was a statue with no feelings, a ans for them to be in charge of more lands in the realm and have more power.

Ivy shook her head, her eyes watering.

"You are lying to my face! I can’t believe that you would deny this!" She yelled and threw weak blows to my chest.

I stood there, looking at her, waiting for her to calm down from her tantrum.

"Can you tell who said all those lies against ?" I asked when she cald down.

She sniffed and nodded like a little child.

"Nylah did. She told I was nothing but a child making machine and would never an more to you." She reported.

I was stunned.

"Are you sure she is the one who said all those things?" I asked and she nodded frantically.

That was shocking. I hadn’t even spoken to Nylah since the old man told about her attitude. How did she co up with such stories to tell Ivy?

"You have to make her pay! I won’t let this slide! You have to make her pay for this. She insulted and lied on the Alpha’s head. There is supposed to be a punishnt attached to this offense!" She urged and I nodded.

"Of course, she will be punished. For talking to my bride to be in such a manner and lying on the Alpha’s head." I replied, my mind was not fully with Ivy but I would do anything to pacify her at least so that her father wouldn’t hear any of it and summon the beast again.
