ZINA

She was already declared dead? What? Why?

Because Zina could sense that Rowan still had much to say to her to complete his gloating, she said, "It seems you’re not done delivering the ssage of this so called fun part you speak of,"

Rowan grinned, "There are verifiable rumours hinting that your husband, no, ex husband, is about to take a new wife."

It took all Zina had within her to remind herself that the last person she should be listening to is this man. They knew fully well that emotionally she was beyond fried and now they were speaking of so nonsense.

"And you truly think I believe a word that cos out from your mouth?" She said with an eye roll, "fine, let’s have more of your pathetic lies!"

Rose approached them, so paper in hand bearing two seals that Zina knew intimately of. One was the royal seal of the Arctic North, and the other Daemon’s personally crafted Royal Seal used for letters which he intended to be delivered not just in the na of the Arctic North, but also in his na.

"She thinks you’re lying, Rowan." Rose drawled, unfurling the paper and placing in front of Zina so she could read it.

Zina recognized the handwriting as well—the letter had been hand written by Daemon himself and it read;

Listen all you Alphas and Betas of Vraga; you rogues and miscreants; you organizations and packs; you ogas and wolfless ones; the Alpha King of the North now speaks.

The enemies our ancestors fought thousands of years ago are back and have waged war on our ways. They intend to build a legacy of a Wolf that exceeds even the Supre Wolf. A pipe dream for sure, but more scary than that it the fact that most of your packs or organizations as the case maybe ally with this cause.

You know this enemy I speak of as much as I do—it is the one they once called the Deford, and they originate from no other place but the West that have repeatedly gone against our ways in the spirit of recluseness.

Now the Arctic North shall lead this war and all must follow. Any who backs out shall be considered a traitor to Vraga. Any who aids the enemy shall die under my wolves, and any who attempts to stop shall be torn into twelve pieces and hung on the walls for all to see.

The Arctic North shall avenge the death of the Late Luna Queen of the North—Zina NorthSteed, and the rage of her mate the Alpha King shall be heard all over the lands and sweep over the West.

With Great Determination,

The Alpha King of the North.

She read the words over and over again as if to see glean so sort of secret ssage from him, so sort of code that he might have left her in the hopes that she would be opportuned to read the letter but she found no such thing.

Hell, maybe there was so sort of secret ssage that she was not gleaning because she was ntally fried and that infuriated her more than the last paragraph of the letter.

’The Arctic North shall avenge the death of the Late Luna Queen of the North—Zina NorthSteed, and the rage of her mate the Alpha King shall be heard all over the lands and sweep over the West.’

Her trust in Daemon was far from that fragile. Logically, she knew he was plotting sothing so while emotionally it did hurt, she processed the logic of information and shelved it in a corner of her mind.

Then because she knew that what they wanted to see was her heartbroken and bereft at the ssage, she allowed her emotional side to take over as a lone tear rolled down her eyes.

Yes, she might not understand what Daemon was speaking of to her, but she knew there was a ssage right there and she was not about to allow his hardwork to go to waste.

"My, my, crying over a wicked man is not befitting of your status, Zina." Rowan drawled, his fingers coming up to caress her cheeks again.

The touch made her want to recoil, but she had a part to play so she sniffled, staring straight at Rowan.

"It seems you do not know my husband," she said in attempt to defend Daemon, "he would never abandon ."

"I warned you that you’re cursed to be the abandoned one. To think that your curse would be so easily lifted is an oversight on your part."

Zina tilted her beard up firmly, "I do not believe you. Nor do I believe the contents of this letter. For all I know you’re deceiving . You’ve sorcerers in your employ so forging sothing like this should not be very hard." She concluded, looking aningfully at Rose as if to accuse the woman that she was in fact, the sorcerer whom she spoke of.

"But you haven’t asked about the most fun part," Rowan said cockily, obviously not derailed by Zina’s lack of believe. "You haven’t asked who this new wife is?"

Zina eyed him warily, pretending to huff. "You speak so much nonsense," she said.

"Norima Talga of the Night Mages...." Rowan drawled and Zina stilled for an entirely different reason. "The woman the Alpha King is rumored to take is the daughter of the leader of the Night Mages. A powerful union that would aid in his conquest to to subdue the West dont you think?"

Rowan smiled at the shock plastered on Zina’s face, except he didn’t know that the root of the shock was from an entirely different thing.

Daemon had in fact sent her a ssage through this unruly rumor of him taking another wife. One that hinted at the staff.

She knew that because Norima Talga was the one she gave the Staff to. But she couldn’t fathom what Daemon’s exact ssage was.

Sure, he was telling her that the staff was in his custody, but Zina was sure they were other ssages she couldn’t gleam yet.

"That is impossible," she said in a shaky voice, panicking to the delight of the two that stood before her, "Daemon is my mate! He will never take another woman as a wife when I’m still alive!" She began to sob whereas her eyes took in the words of the letter than that Rose still held out for her.

The Arctic North shall avenge the death of the Late Luna Queen of the North....

Late Luna Queen?

And any who attempts to stop shall be torn into twelve pieces and hung on the walls for all to see...

Twelve pieces?

And the rumour of Norima Talga marrying him specifically the connection to the Night Mages?

Then the ssage ca to her. Daemon had in fact sent her a ssage after all.
