“I better find that flower soon so that I can head back...” I muttered.

The driver ntioned that he would be back for around sunset, so I had to find the flower before that no matter what. Sundown would mark the extent of my search because I doubt that I would be able to see anything after the sun had set. It didn’t take long to realize that I was extrely poorly equipped for my journey through the forest. I wasn’t wearing suitable shoes for a trek in the forest, and I didn’t have a flashlight to use if it got dark.

“Let’s do this...” I mumbled to myself before taking in a deep breath.

After steeling my nerves and pumping myself with adrenaline, I marched right into the forest on my search for the flower that the Duchess Isabella was so in love with. The forest seed less dense when I walked inside and it didn’t feel as scary as when I was staring at if from the outside, thankfully. I breathed a sigh of relief; however, my initial feeling of relief did not last long.

I rembered well what the flower looked like, but I couldn’t see it in sight after a while of walking around. As a matter of fact, there were hardly any flowers in the forest at all. There were just trees with green leaves and that was pretty much it. So small wildflowers blood on the ground amid the grass, but it was nothing impressive and nothing close to what I was searching for.

Deeper and deeper, I walked into the forest on my search for the flower. I didn’t want to go in too deep into the forest because I was scared that I would get lost. All the trees looked the sa and there wasn’t a clear path. All I could do was try to walk forward in a straight line to at least maintain my sense of direction. I had no idea how long I had been walking for but the fact that I had already started to sweat despite the cool weather told that it had been a while already.

“It’s not here...I can’t find it anywhere...” I muttered as my frustration started to take over .

Does a flower that looked so special like that actually grow up here on his mountain?

I looked around as doubt flooded my mind. What if the flower doesn’t really exist in this forest?

But then, why would Lady Regina send on this mission if the flower doesn’t exist?

Wouldn’t she get in trouble if she failed to deliver the flower at her eting with the King and the Duchess tomorrow?

“Seriously, if she wanted the flower so badly, she should have sent like ten maids here instead of alone...or so guards...or butlers...” I started complaining and talking to myself.

The forest was too peaceful, and it made feel lonely and a little scared as more ti passed by. I sat down to rest against a large tree trunk while telling myself that I was just resting and not slacking off from my work. No matter how far and hard I searched, I couldn’t seem to find the flower. There was just no trace of it. I morized the plant of the flower as well, but I couldn’t locate that either.

The cries of the birds flying above brought my attention up to the sky that had already turned a mix of orange and pink. The sun is already starting to set.

Did that much ti pass by already? I had no idea...

No wonder my legs felt so tired, and I also felt dehydrated. My throat felt dry, and I cursed myself silently for forgetting to prepare a bottle of water. Sophie rushed so much that I wasn’t offered an opportunity to grab anything or to prepare myself before I was taken to the car.

I’m sorry, Lady Regina, but it seems like you’re not going to get your flower for tomorrow’s eting for sure.

After apologizing silently to her in my head, I had to admit that I had given up on finding the flower. Sothing told that the flower wasn’t easy for or anyone to find unless they truly knew where to look. The forest was too big for to search alone without any information besides what the flower looked like. My body felt too tired already and I could barely move. I should head back out of the forest towards the road where the driver was supposed to pick up and take back to the castle.

Perhaps I spent too long thinking about all of that inside of my head because it quickly began to get darker and darker in the forest. The sunset did not last long and soon enough, the sky lost its touch of orange tinge until it beca almost completely dark. I walked on shaky legs as I placed the palm of my hand flat against the various tree trunks along the way to help support myself.

Why did it have to get so dark so fast?

I began walking faster and faster. The forest was getting darker at such a shockingly fast rate. If I don’t hurry, I’m not going to make it out of this forest before it gets completely dark, and I wouldn’t be able to see. The worst part was that I didn’t know how much further I had to go, and a sense of panic started to grip . It felt like I had walked a long way already and I began to wonder if I had gotten lost. That would have been the worst out of all outcos.

Just after that thought ran through my head, I felt a pain shoot through my head. It was a pain like none other that I had ever experienced before. I had to stop walking as I squeezed my eyes shut tightly to deal with the pain plaguing my brain. The sharp pain felt like it was pulsating through my brain but soon it ca to a complete end just as suddenly as it had started.

I opened my eyes again before I jumped at the sound of sothing moving behind . What I saw froze in place as I tried to convince myself that I must have been dreaming.

Yellow golden eyes started back at in the dimly lit forest. The beast was large and furry.

A wild wolf...
