It wasn’t strange for the king to summon all his sons together, so I wasn’t surprised to see Prince Darius making an appearance. However, the woman that stood by her side was soone that I hadn’t in my wildest dreams expected to see. At first I truly felt like my eyes were deceiving , because I found it so hard to believe that she could be here.
Why would she be with Prince Darius of all people?
I couldn’t stop staring at the familiar face of one of my closest friends at the palace. When our eyes t, she quickly lowered her eyes to avert my gaze and I could feel that she felt uncomfortable. I forced my mouth that had hung open closed, but I couldn’t stop myself from staring at her.
Why is Selena here of all people? It just didn’t make any sense. Why is she here with Prince Darius?
The king didn’t make any comnt so it beca clear that he had invited Selena to the throne room as well. My heart began beating wildly in my chest as I wondered if she had gotten herself into trouble in so shape or form. If that was the case, what could I possibly do to help her out? Although I didn’t understand the situation because it didn’t make sense, I began feeling restless and concerned about her safety. The two of them took the seat that was prepared for them and it seems like our eting with the king was ready to start.
“Now that everyone is all here, we can start. I’ve called all of you here today because there are two big announcents to be made,” the king announced before taking a pause.
I tried looking at Selena but she wouldn’t et my eyes. I could sense her anxiousness because I was feeling the sa way. Silence filled the room as everyone waited in anticipation for the king to make his announcent.
“Finally the full moon has blessed us with very good news after such a long wait. I would like to inform everyone in this room that Regina is now pregnant,” the king announced as he gestured with his hand in Regina’s direction.
His words stunned and I found myself looking straight at Regina. Since she still looked slim without her belly showing, I figured that she must be in her early stages of pregnancy. I was further shocked when my mind made the delayed connection that Regina must be pregnant with Prince Florian’s child. I had no idea when their relationship developed into one of being lovers, but it perfectly explained Regina’s disappearance from Prince Leonard’s life and why she no longer interfered with my relationship with the prince.
It seed that the long-awaited arrival of the potential heir to the throne may have finally co to an end. Regina was now pregnant and that ant that Prince Florian had a high chance of inheriting the throne and becoming the next king. No one said anything as everyone seed to take in the news. Prince Florian smiled at Regina and he seed extrely pleased. Although surprising, I had to say that they looked like a very happy couple.
“There is one more announcent that I need to make,” the king said to capture our attention once again.
Once he saw that he had everyone’s attention, he continued with his next announcent.
“I would also like to congratulate Prince Darius because the maid Selena is also pregnant,” the king announced as he gestured with his hand in the direction where Prince Darius and Selena were seated.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, and I wondered if the king had sohow made a mistake. I turned with a shocked look on my face to stare in Salena’s direction. The way that she fidgeted nervously in her seat while she avoided eting my gaze told that what the king had announced must be true.
When did Selena get pregnant?
Since I had been away from the sacred chamber for a while, I haven’t been in close contact with her lately. When I moved to live with the prince at his palace, I didn’t bring my two personal maids over with .
When did her relationship with Prince Darius start? When did she beco his lover? Did it happen after I moved to Prince Leonard’s palace or did it happen while I was still living in the sacred chambers?
Endless questions flooded into my mind as I still found it hard to believe that Selena was pregnant with Prince Darius’s child. Since the two of them were not denying it, I knew that with certainty that the king’s words held true. However, unlike the loving air that surrounded Prince Florian and Regina, there was a tense air that surrounded Prince Darius and Selena as if there was so invisible distance between them. I couldn’t recall when Selena could have started her relationship with Prince Darius to take it so far as to mate with him and beco pregnant with his child.
Prince Darius did visit soti in the sacred chambers, did he use those opportunities to form a relationship and go after Salena? Why would he do sothing like that? Is he in love with her?
All these questions entered my head but none of them had any answers.
“This is really good news. Congratulations,” Prince Leonard said to his brothers with a wide smile.
I could sense his genuine happiness at the recently disclosed news. While I was stunned into silence, the prince seed to take the news very well. I wished that I could share the happiness of everyone in the room as I tried my best to smile and nod my head in agreent. However, there was no denying that the sudden change in the situation had put in a very difficult spot as the only woman in the room who had failed to conceive. Although I knew that I shouldn’t be thinking that way, I couldn’t help but think that I had let Prince Leonard down. Both his brothers now had children on the way, while I was still struggling to beco pregnant.
