Chapter 143: What You Are (Ch.143)
"I do not hold it against you, leave it be. How is your father?" Zariah changed the topic in a dismissive tone.
"We found him unconscious but there was no harm inflicted, it seems Lord Imain did not intend to hurt him. He is recuperating in the Sea Palace." Prince Treyton reported.
Zariah sighed quietly at the ntion of Lord Imain, she had killed him out of rage but now that she was much calr, she felt he at least deserved a fair trial.
"You made the right decision given the circumstances, his end was more than he deserved." King Askel interrupted Zariah’s thoughts, knowing exactly what was on her mind.
"King Askel is right Zariah, do not bla yourself." Kristen supported.
"In war...there is neither wrong nor right, I do not bla myself, each side battles for what they believe in, who can be the judge of what is fair and just?" Zariah said with a shake of her head.
"You can and you have. As Lord Protector of the realm, your decision is what is fair and just." King Askel said in a firm tone.
"He hard my mate... death was his inevitable fate." Zariah began,
"However, Lord Imain has proven worthy of grace, see to it that my promise to him is fulfilled."
"I shall consider it that the Sea Kingdom has repaid the debt owed to Crimson Moon." Zariah decided after a mont of quiet.
"There is sothing else we must discuss... that is why I have sent for Treyton." Lord lven continued, his tone turning serious.
Zariah quirked a brow as she returned to King Askel’s side and took a seat, King Askel’s hand going around her waist almost imdiately.
Zariah rolled her eyes at his possessive instincts but she did not mind it at all, his hold brought with it a warmth and comfort she desperately needed.
"What is your concern, Uncle lven? Do tell... if it is within the power of the Crimson Moon, we will not hesitate to grant our aid." Zariah said.
"The Crimson Moon and the Ethereal Domain... she ant to say." King Askel adjusted, earning himself a glance from everyone in the room.
"I do not speak for the Ethereal Domain Askel...you are King." Zariah said with a raised brow.
"And you are Queen, Mhíjani...so yes you do." King Askel declared in a tone that dared Zariah to refute his words.
"Well... what he said." Zariah relented as she reverted her gaze back to Lord lven.
"This is not related to the Sea Kingdom... it’s about you Zariah." Lord lven said seriously.
"?... What about ?" Zariah asked slowly.
"It’s about what you are, Alpha Zariah." Prince Treyton explained.
"After the dark war, the Creator deed it right for the purity of the lineages... especially after almost half the population was nearly wiped out."
"Even when two different species are mated in a rare mate bond, their offspring would either be one or the other... never possessing both abilities."
"Zariah...you are the first hybrid in centuries, the first since the dark war and possessing two noble bloodlines flowing through your veins,"
"The royal blood of the r folk and the Crimson blood..." Lord lven trailed off.
"What does that an?" Zariah asked.
"You, Zariah Torin Moonstone just might be the greatest and most powerful hybrid to have ever lived." Lord lven revealed.
The entire room fell quiet as Zariah took a mont to process Lord lven’s words.
"I don’t suppose that’s a very good developnt..." Zariah murmured, understanding the implications of Lord lven’s words.
"Once the supernatural realm discovers what you are... many will seek to acquire you for your power."
"You will be the most sought after and most endangered existence, I fear, news of what happened in the Sea Kingdom will spread quickly."
"Zariah’s transformation happened before hundreds of eyes, I have made the necessary arrangents to curb the spread, but there is no thods with which we can contain the news for too long."
"In a short ti, the news will be spread all across the supernatural realm... the days coming will be filled with danger and uncertainties." Lord lven said in a grim tone.
A low, dangerous growl escaped King Askel’s lips at Lord lven’s words, his grip tightening on Zariah’s waist and Zariah unconsciously leaned closer to him.
"Acquire ...how?" Zariah asked suspiciously, however Lord lven did not need to speak before Zariah understood.
"In whatever way they can. You are a female Zariah... unmarked and as such, unclaid... the first concern would obviously be..." Lord lven trailed off, passing a cautious glance over to a glowering King Askel.
"She is mine!" King Askel snarled furiously and Lord lven quickly nodded.
"Indeed, but by ancient laws, a mate can be won to another by a challenge." Lord lven said, wincing when King Askel growled again.
"Who dares? I will kill them all..." King Askel swore in a chilling, cold tone.
"King Askel is undefeated, this I know of... but I do not suppose an ambitious challenger will play by the rules, or perhaps they shall choose to undermine the ancient laws even..." Lord lven continued.
"As such... though it is not my place to speak on such affairs, for my niece’s safety and King Askel’s assurance, I will make an inappropriate suggestion." Lord lven said.
"You wish to request King Askel and I consolidate the mate bond as soon as possible..." Zariah said knowingly and Lord lven nodded.
Lord lven’s concerns and suggestion were all reasonable and Zariah understood he was most likely right.
The first hybrid in centuries...it was news that could overturn the supernatural realm, whoever acquired such power could beco supre ruler of the realm.
"I have noticed you do not bear your mate’s mark Zariah. Bearing his mark and consummating your union,"
"This is the most definite way to ensure your safety and prevent King Askel from risking a challenge." Lord lven said.
King Askel cald at Lord lven’s suggestion and glanced down at Zariah, awaiting her response.
"I... I understand, Askel and I will discuss it. For the ti being, I will leave your rs to you...keep my transformation from leaving the Sea Kingdom for as long as is possible." Zariah said after a mont of quietness.
"I will do all that is within my power, you can be assured of the loyalty of my Coral Seas. We are your family and we will always be at your service Zariah... always." Lord lven vowed.
"Lord lven speaks for the Coral Seas... but I shall speak for the entire Sea Kingdom."
"The Crimson Moon once again is our benefactor... the Sea Kingdom will always be at your disposal." Prince Treyton swore.
"You make a vow for the Sea Kingdom...on whose authority?" Zariah asked,
"Mine." Prince Treyton replied.
"Upon his recovery, Father intends to bequeath the throne to Treyton and assu the position as Lord guardian of the Sea Do. As of this mont, Treyton commands the Sea...he is King." Princess Shariah revealed.
Zariah blinked in surprise, exchanging a glance with King Askel.
"King Himan’s decision is made? He shall guard the Sea Do till his death?" Zariah asked.
"Father believes this is the right path, we will abide by his wishes." Prince Treyton said, his gaze reflecting his sorrow but his expression remained unchanged.
"Very well, the Sea Kingdom is in good hands. I accept your vow, King Treyton."
"He who accords respect to the Crimson Moon shall be given the sa. Should the Sea Kingdom be in need, my Crimson Wolves... and the Ethereal Domain shall not stand by." Zariah said.
Before Zariah could speak further, she felt a familiar ache in her heart and she lifted a hand to her chest.
"Mhíjani... what’s wrong?" King Askel asked but Zariah’s eyes had already glazed over, her hand rested over King Askel’s thigh to reassure him
"Darren, my precious... I feel your pain and your distress, what has happened?" Zariah asked aloud, her tone deep with concern.
