"She is my wife, and I should respect her and love her," Lu Zheng paused before speaking.

This undoubtedly rubbed salt on Yunzhi’s wound.

She chuckled lightly and said, "But it was who married you, how can she be your wife? I am your wife! Whether it was in the previous life or this life, I am your wife!"

Lu Zheng was at a loss for words, seeing her madness.

He pursed his lips and could only say, "So, what do you want? How can we stop causing harm?"

The repulsive image of that creature was still vivid in his mind, and whenever he thought of it, his stomach would churn uncontrollably.

"I don’t need to disguise myself as a human, nor do I need to harm others," Yunzhi’s tone changed, becoming more coquettish. "Lu’lang, how about we retreat to the mountains and live in seclusion? That way, no one can disturb us."

Lu Zheng lowered his gaze and pondered, his handso face showing a hint of seriousness.

All this trouble started because of him.

If he agreed to her proposal, it would be the best outco, ensuring that the people would no longer be hard.

He raised his gaze again, staring at Yunzhi. "Alright, but you must promise that you won’t harm anyone anymore."

Yunzhi’s heart leaped with joy, finally revealing a satisfied smile.

She nodded, "Alright, I promise."

However, a hint of strangeness flashed in her eyes.

Lan’er had reverted to her original form and was severely injured.

In order to quickly regain her human form, she needed to consu human hearts and absorb their essence.

Moreover, Chu Nanli had hard her sister.

How couldn’t she seek revenge for this grudge?

Agreeing to Lu Zheng’s request was just to appease him.

After all, even if she had done sothing outside, he would never know.

Yunzhi didn’t keep Lu Zheng awake the whole ti.

With a flick of her finger, he fell into a deep sleep.

Her expression turned cold again as she carried Lan’er and prepared to go out to find food.

There was a village nearby, enough for them to feed on.

After draining the essence of humans and extracting the hearts of won and children, both of them were greatly nourished.

Yunzhi had already recovered, and Lan’er’s injuries had improved.

Looking at the corpses scattered on the ground, Yunzhi showed no pity or guilt on her face.

They quickly left.

But they had hunted for food here, leaving behind traces for sure.

Nanli followed closely, with Ye Siheng and the Black Armor Guards accompanying him.

They saw that all the villagers in the village had been brutally killed, causing their faces to pale.

Because of their tragic deaths, their souls lingered in the village.

Nanli remained silent and said, "Bury the villagers. I will prepare to guide them into the underworld."

Ye Siheng nodded and gave the order.

Fortunately, they had brought a considerable number of Black Armor Guards, enough to handle the task.

Nanli first collected so demonic energy and then used talismans to open the path to the underworld.

So of the villagers were still confused and reluctant to be reincarnated.

Finally, Nanli spent so effort to cleanse the resentnt from their bodies and forcefully sent them on their way.

After all, if the spirits harbored resentnt, they could easily turn into evil spirits and lose the chance of reincarnation.

At this mont, the Black Armor Guards had buried all the villagers.

However, the bloody aura in the village had not dissipated and lingered in the air.

"It seems that these two demons must be exterminated," Nanli said coldly.

She took out the spirit pearl and saw that the cracks were still there, not yet repaired.

Seeing this, Ye Siheng said, "A’Li, don’t force yourself."

"I know. Master Yuanfan has a senior brother who is also an expert in capturing ghosts and demons. Unfortunately, he has been traveling for many years and has never returned to Wanfo Temple. If we can find him and join forces, we can kill that three-tailed fox," Nanli said seriously.

"Finding soone is simple," Ye Siheng imdiately ordered Qing Feng to spread the news.

His network of spies covered the entire Mu Nation.

As long as that senior brother hadn’t gone to the Jiang Kingdom or Qi Nation, there would be news within three days.

Nanli was still burdened with worries.

If they didn’t capture that three-tailed fox soon, she didn’t know how many more innocent people would suffer.

There were good demons in the world, but those two fox spirits were not among them.

Legitimate cultivation could turn demons into immortals, but once they committed acts that violated the natural order, when their lifespan ended, the underworld would settle their sins.

However, before that, the underworld couldn’t interfere in the affairs of other realms, otherwise, it would face punishnt from the heavens.

Upon awakening, Lu Zheng found himself resting upon a bamboo mat.

As he propped himself up, Yunzhi entered the room, her countenance radiant with a gentle smile.

"Lu’lang," she said.

Lu Zheng surveyed his surroundings, taking in the elegance of the small bamboo dwelling. "Where are we?" he inquired.

"This is our new abode," Yunzhi replied with a smile.

"Nestled amidst the mountains, henceforth we shall reside here, undisturbed by the outside world."

Lu Zheng pondered, realizing that this place must be far removed from the bustling capital.

It brought him solace, knowing that his parents and sister would be safe in Jing City.

Yet, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret for not bidding them farewell, uncertain if he would ever have the chance to see them again.

As Lu Zheng rose from his mat, Yunzhi approached with garnts in hand, ready to assist him in dressing. "No... I shall manage on mine own," Lu Zheng evaded her touch, feeling a mixture of panic and bashfulness.

Yunzhi’s gaze shifted, her voice tinged with reproach. "In the past, it was I who dressed you. We are husband and wife, Lu’lang, there is no need for you to feel embarrassed."

"I am yet unaccustod, my foxy maiden. I shall attire myself, I bid you to depart," Lu Zheng took hold of the clothing.

Yunzhi’s gaze remained intense, refusing to budge.

He pursed his lips and relented, "Yun’er, thou mayest leave first."

The utterance of "Yun’er" brought contentnt to Yunzhi’s heart.

Her smile deepened as she nodded, "I shall depart."

Once the door closed, Lu Zheng proceeded to don his attire.

Fortunately, his ti in the Pri Minister’s residence had not rendered him incapable of dressing himself.

Stepping outside, he witnessed Yunzhi bustling about in the small kitchen, while Lan’er, still in her fox form, lay upon a cushion, her tail swaying intermittently.

Lu Zheng felt a sense of surrealism, as if this life were filled with warmth and tranquility.

Influenced by his father, he had diligently pursued his studies with the intention of serving the court.

Yet deep within, his true desire was to spend a lifeti hand in hand with his beloved wife, experiencing enduring love and a household filled with descendants.

Now, it seed as if his wish had been granted.

Perhaps he truly could be a harmonious couple with Yunzhi, living a blissful life together.

However, this notion was swiftly dispelled.

The als were prepared solely for Lu Zheng, as Yunzhi claid to have eaten her fill after a few bites.

Observing Lan’er’s improved condition, he couldn’t ignore the truth any longer.

He was not a fool, and the reality beca clear to him.

They must have ventured out to hunt for sustenance, not only satiating their hunger but also replenishing their strength, radiating with vitality.

Lu Zheng’s hand holding the chopsticks trembled slightly.

Humans were humans, and demons were demons.

They could never truly be together.
