Ye Yanqin quickly regained her composure, thanks to her cultivation. She sensed the black mist approaching and imdiately cast several talismans, using them to stun the evil spirits, revealing their true forms.

Grand Lady, who had followed her, also paused. Originally, she had co with the intent to slay the ghosts, but now that she focused on the figures, she was equally stunned. "What is this? Are these... babies?"
They blinked in disbelief, confirming that the evil spirits were indeed infants, but they looked horrible. They were missing limbs, eyes, or legs. One of the babies was even covered in crawling worms!
Ye Yanqin looked at the worms, feeling her skin crawl. Her stomach churned, and she couldn’t help but gag.
Grand Lady frowned. "Qinqin, you can’t handle this? You need to train harder."
Ye Yanqin turned her head away, not daring to look. "Grand Lady, how co you’re not reacting at all?"
"I’ve seen more blood and filth in the battlefield. This is nothing," Grand Lady said, her tone heavy.
She stepped toward one of the infants. "A baby this small, they must not have even been born yet. How did they turn into an evil spirit?"
But when the family on the altar saw two nuns coming to save them, they beca excited and began shouting anxiously.
"What does it matter that they’re babies? They are still evil spirits!"
"Why are you hesitating? Quickly deal with them!"
"No! For the past few days, they’ve been boiling and eating our own children! This is an unforgivable cri! You must destroy their souls, never letting them be reborn!"
The family was terrified and urged the two nuns to act quickly, pleading with them to not waste any more ti.
The babies’ cries continued.
Grand Lady’s expression darkened further after hearing what the family had said.
"Are you sure of what you’re saying?" Ye Yanqin asked. "How could these babies use such cruel thods? What do you have against them?"
The elderly woman in the family suddenly stood up, furious, and yelled, "We are good people! What could we have against these evil spirits? And you two nuns are strange! You see evil spirits harming others, and instead of acting quickly to destroy their souls, you’re asking all these questions!"
Ye Yanqin’s face grew cold. "Evil spirits are born from deep resentnt. Before we destroy their souls, I must understand why they beca evil spirits and whether it’s truly necessary to obliterate them."
"Correct!" Grand Lady nodded. "We will act based on the truth. If these children died from abuse, we will avenge them, resolve their resentnt, and help them move on!"
The evil baby spirits, though bound by Ye Yanqin’s talisman, had remained silent. They had stopped crying and were now staring at Grand Lady, a hint of pleading in their round eyes.
Grand Lady’s expression softened, and she said, "If you can speak, tell your grievances. Don’t worry, we are not unjust."
The babies tried to open their mouths.
But suddenly, several Soul Destroying Spells flew from the southeast!
They ca too quickly, too urgently!
Ye Yanqin reacted faster than Grand Lady. She rushed forward and managed to block three of the spells with a few swift motions of her sword.
But one of the spells still managed to land!
Her face changed drastically as she used her body to block it.
She was thrown to the ground, and though she wasn’t physically injured, her soul was damaged. The pain in her soul spread throughout her body, and she broke out in a cold sweat.
"Child..." Ye Yanqin opened her eyes.
She saw that she had failed to block the spell completely. Half of it had struck one of the evil baby spirits.
Imdiately, the spirit’s soul began to fade, becoming translucent.
As its soul was about to scatter, it let out a heart-wrenching wail.
The entire town seed to tremble. The ghostly energy in the air intensified!
More than ten streams of ghostly energy surged from all directions, and their target was clear: to take their lives!
"Qinqin!" Grand Lady couldn’t care about anything else and rushed to Ye Yanqin’s side.
She thrust her Peachwood Sword into the air, drawing a talisman that quickly ford a protective array around them.
Ye Yanqin, having been struck by a Soul Destroying Spell, was only able to survive because of her Golden Core cultivation. However, with her soul damaged, she was now in a semi-conscious state.

She wiped the cold sweat from her brow.

At this critical mont, three figures dropped from the sky.

One of them shouted, "Set up an array!"
The three of them broke through the encroaching ghostly energy, driving their swords into the ground and setting up a powerful protective array.
Yet, despite their efforts, the ghostly energy continued to batter against the array.
The three’s faces grew grim.
With their current talismans, they would be able to hold out until dawn, but the array would not survive until then.
"A’Xun, the situation is bad!" one of them exclaid.
"Yeah, with this density of ghostly energy, we can’t break out," said another.
Chi Xun, furrowing his brow, said, "Forget about that for now, we need to see how Miss Ye is doing."
Before they took action, they had already recognized Grand Lady and Ye Yanqin.
They had t several tis while traveling through Mu Nation.
Chi Xun never expected Ye Yanqin to have blocked a Soul Destroying Spell for an evil spirit.
"Grand Lady," Chi Xun didn’t waste ti greeting them. He imdiately asked about Ye Yanqin’s condition, "Is Miss Ye alright?"
Grand Lady had already dissipated her small protective array.
When she saw Chi Xun rushing to check on Ye Yanqin’s condition, she raised her hand and slapped him across the face.
The slap was loud and clear.
Shen Chong and Wu Dapeng were furious when they saw this.
They rushed forward, shouting, "What gives you the right to slap him?"
They were about to take action, but Chi Xun quickly stopped them.
Regardless of their mistakes, they couldn’t challenge Grand Lady, given her status. Even if she severed his hand, he wouldn’t dare complain.

Wu Dapeng tried to explain, "Slaying evil spirits—what’s wrong with that? We’re ridding the world of harm!"
Grand Lady sneered.
"I may not be as strong as you, but my eyes aren’t blind. You only saw that killing demons and ghosts could accumulate rit and help in cultivation. That’s why you’ve been wandering around everywhere."
"And more importantly, you want to show off your achievents to Tongtong, so that she will appreciate you and promote you. You think that will guarantee you a bright future, right?"
