"A large-scale outbreak in the Nipplecy Autonomous Region?"

On the seventh floor of the apartnt building, Kojou Akatsuki watched the morning gossip news broadcast on TV.

He furrowed his brows tightly, his face full of confusion.

The TV was playing a privately recorded video—a foreign street swarming with hordes of rioters indiscriminately attacking pedestrians around them.

Their sunken, lifeless eyes and their staggering, swaying movents were eerily similar to zombies from horror movies!

"I heard it's a new type of vampire infection—so scary!"

Nagisa Akatsuki poked her head out from the kitchen while licking cream off her fingers.

It was her birthday today, so she was preparing a handmade cake!

"Vampire infection? A symptom that makes vampires go crazy?"

"That's not what I ant! It's a symptom that turns people into vampires!"

Nagisa rolled her eyes playfully, her small face turning very serious.

"Turns people into vampires?"

Hearing this, Kojou widened his eyes in surprise.

"What kind of bizarre symptom is that? Isn't it just superstition that being bitten by a vampire turns you into one?As an ordinary person living in the Demon Sanctuary, Kojou had a solid grasp of basic knowledge about demons.

Being bitten by a vampire didn't turn you into one—that was just a plot device in movies and TV shows, debunked as superstition decades ago.

In reality, there was only one way for a human to beco a vampire: receiving a vampire's blood.

Only when a vampire injected their blood into a person would that person beco their blood servant, gradually transforming into a true vampire!

Just like Kojou himself.

He was currently a pseudo-vampire who had received Avarora's rib. As a hematopoietic organ, the rib was the best dium. Only because Avarora didn't want to turn him into a true vampire was he able to barely maintain his human body.

"I don't know either. The World Health Organization doesn't seem to have a clue, but there are rumors that it's so kind of biological weapon. Think about it—hasn't Nipplecy been at war recently? I hope the number of infected doesn't increase any further."

As she spoke, Nagisa began to pray.

Currently, the international community couldn't confirm the source of the virus. All they knew was that infected people would gradually lose their mories, eventually losing their rationality and violently attacking passersby.

On the contrary, their muscle strength and sense of sll would be greatly enhanced, turning them into vampires similar to the G-species.

G-species vampires were a category born from the Second True Ancestor.

Unlike the D-species vampires born from the First True Ancestor, these vampires weren't afraid of garlic or silver weapons. Therefore, many believed the vampire infection in Nipplecy was poison deployed by the Ninth Prince.

Since there was no cure yet, the number of infected was steadily increasing.

Soon, the morning gossip news ended, and comrcials began airing on TV.

"Oh no, Kojou-nii, we're running out of cream at ho! I'm going out for a bit!"

Nagisa hurriedly ran out of the kitchen, taking off her apron and dashing toward the door.

"Probably because you wasted it recklessly, right?"

"No need to expose my flaws like that, Kojou-nii! That kind of attitude won't make you popular with girls, you know! I'm heading out now, so you better stay ho and watch the house properly!"

"I know, I'm not a child anymore!"

Kojou Akatsuki let out a helpless sigh.

He truly had no ti to go out right now.

The reason? He hadn't even started his howork assignnts yet!

He was the type who would get a headache just looking at howork, always leaving it until the last possible mont, procrastinating until there was no more ti to delay. In this regard, he was just like the vast majority of Chinese students—students worldwide were all the sa in this aspect.

Spring break was almost over, and he had reached the critical point where he had to focus all his energy on catching up with his assignnts. There was simply no ti to accompany Nagisa on her shopping trip.

Nagisa Akatsuki grabbed her wallet and quickly left the apartnt building.

Kojou, anwhile, turned off the TV and began writing furiously.

Completely imrsed in the world of howork, Kojou jolted violently when he heard a thunderous explosion-like sound.

"What was that?"

The noise seed to co from not far outside the apartnt building.

Kojou imdiately put down his book and rushed out of his room.

What greeted his eyes was a massive scorch mark on the ground.

A blonde girl, clad in fiber protective gear resembling motorcycle leathers, was confronting sothing—a creature so small that even Kojou's sharp eyes couldn't make out its details clearly.

Beside them, a spherical grid-like object, reminiscent of sothing from a sci-fi movie, hovered in mid-air. It was about the height of a person, with a glossy, reflective surface that seed to be made of a gem-like material.

"Nagisa!"

Kojou was shocked.

Inside the gem-like sphere, Nagisa Akatsuki was frantically pounding on the walls, her mouth moving as if she were shouting sothing anxiously, though no sound escaped.

"Damn it!"

Rage surged through his skull. Cursing under his breath, Kojou took the stairs two at a ti, bypassing the elevator entirely, and dashed down at breakneck speed.

In that mont, he was filled with imnse regret.

His mother had already warned him to keep a close eye on Nagisa, yet he had still slipped up. How could she have been targeted just by stepping outside?!

Driven by adrenaline, Kojou reached the scene in less than half a minute.

"Bzzzt—!"

A slender beam of light pierced through his field of vision, forcing Kojou to halt abruptly to avoid being hit.

The beam was pure, brilliant light, shooting toward the blonde girl in the blink of an eye. To Kojou, the girl looked exactly like Avrora—undoubtedly another "vessel"!

However, a shield, gleaming like a gem, floated in front of the girl, deflecting the beam.

That shield emitted the sa radiance as the gem-like sphere imprisoning Nagisa!

This vessel was trying to take Nagisa away!

"Give it up, Number One."

The creature, standing less than ten centiters tall, looked as pitiable and adorable as a pet on the ground.

But resting on its shoulder was a tallic cannon—the sa one that had fired the earlier beam and left the scorch marks on the ground. Underestimating this tiny being would surely lead to a grueso death.

"As long as I am here, you shall not lay a hand on Nagisa Akatsuki!"

Only now did Kojou get a clear look at the small figure.

Golden hair, healthy brown skin, and an exotic, charming face—though her height made her utterly non-intimidating.

"Who is this?"

Kojou was baffled.

He had never seen this person before, with no impression whatsoever.

But since they were protecting Nagisa, they must be an ally!

As soon as the words fell, the small figure suddenly grew larger.

Kojou Akatsuki's vision far surpassed what it used to be, and with a single glance, he saw streams of silver liquid flowing from the distant underground waterways, converging into the small figure's body.

At the sa ti, tallic storms surged from all directions, countless blades stabbing toward Number One from every angle.

The small figure casually waved a hand.

A smooth tallic lake appeared beneath the gemstone sphere, swallowing the entire gemstone sphere trapping Nagisa like a giant shark devouring its prey.
