"How’s it going?"

Just after getting in the car, Ruan Hongzhuang couldn’t wait to ask.

"What do you an ’how’s it going’?"

"Grandma, is she around ?" Ruan Hongzhuang pressed.

Shen Siyuan shook his head; it seed he hadn’t seen her since the last ti at the aquarium.

"Not around?" Ruan Hongzhuang said with a hint of disappointnt in her voice.

"If you really want to see her that badly, I can have Xiao Yue help you look for her."

Hearing this, Ruan Hongzhuang did not react with the urgency Shen Siyuan expected but instead fell silent for a long while.

Driving sowhat chanically and watching the passing scenery outside the window, it was unclear what she was thinking.

Shen Siyuan said nothing, simply watching her quietly.

Not all the living desire to et the dead, he believed Ruan Hongzhuang certainly had her reasons.

After a good while, she finally spoke slowly, "Actually, I want to see her, but I’m also a bit scared to."

"Why? Is grandma very strict? She seems like a very kind old lady to ," Shen Siyuan said, surprised.

"Maybe... it’s because I’ve disappointed her," Ruan Hongzhuang stated.

Hearing this, Shen Siyuan was full of question marks, wondering where her lack of confidence ca from.

Ruan Hongzhuang glanced at him, saw his speechless expression, and guessed what he was thinking.

"You don’t understand..."

She had barely finished speaking when Shen Siyuan furrowed his brows.

"What’s the matter?" Ruan Hongzhuang asked, sowhat confused.

"I actually really dislike that phrase. How will I understand if you don’t tell ?" Shen Siyuan replied.

"Okay, okay, don’t be angry," Ruan Hongzhuang said.

"Actually, my grandma is the youngest daughter of the great master of Chinese classics, Su Ding’an. Grandma has loved traditional Chinese culture since she was young, but due to the influence of the era, she wasted a lot of ti and ultimately didn’t achieve much in the field of Chinese classics, which has always been her greatest regret..."

"When my mother was born, grandma hoped she would carry on the legacy of my great-grandfather, but mom disappointed her by becoming a textile worker, later going into business with my dad, a life completely unrelated to studying Chinese classics..."

"When I was born, grandma placed her hopes on . I was indeed interested in Chinese classics when I was in school and had the best grades in language arts. Grandma once thought I could carry on the legacy of my great-grandfather, but eventually, I also chose the path of going into business..."

"Actually, grandma didn’t like my dad very much. She thought he was too fixated on money, skilled at calculating, lived too harshly, and lacked freedom. She had always taught not to beco soone like my dad. Honestly, when I was young, I really disliked dad too; all he ever talked about was business..."

"But as I grew up, I found myself unconsciously becoming another him..."

Many people especially dislike their fathers when they’re young. They feel their fathers have bad tempers, are irritable and incompetent, but as they grow up, they realize they’re slowly turning into another version of their fathers.

So people think their mothers aren’t beautiful, are short, fat, with a pancake face, and babble on annoyingly, but after they get married, they find they’ve subconsciously chosen a partner very similar to their mother.

There are countless examples like this, so Shen Siyuan wasn’t surprised at all by Ruan Hongzhuang becoming like her father.

"Grandma must be very disappointed with how I turned out now," said Ruan Hongzhuang, her eyes beginning to redden.

"I think, maybe you’re just overthinking it," Shen Siyuan said.

"I am not overthinking." Ruan Hongzhuang retorted unhappily, her voice raised a few notches.

"What I an to say is, if she loves you enough, no matter what you beco, she will love you. Besides, you are still so outstanding now, even if it’s not in the field of Chinese classics," Shen Siyuan said.

Ruan Hongzhuang fell silent upon hearing this, and after a while, she firmly said, "Grandma loves the most; she surely won’t be angry with ."

"That’s right, I’ll have Xiao Yue help you look, see where she could have gone," Shen Siyuan offered comfortingly.

"Maybe she found so rare ancient texts and didn’t want to leave."

Ruan Hongzhuang seed to amuse herself with her own words, wiping the corner of her eye and shrugging her nose, revealing a smile.

"It’s not impossible."

The ancient and rare books in Bin Hai certainly cannot compare with Si Ming, as after all, Si Ming has the Tianyi Pavilion, the largest ancient book conservation unit in the country, but due to the geographical advantage, Bin Hai has quite a few rare overseas editions.

Even many of these editions are from before the Qing dynasty, unaltered ancient books.

"Let’s just park the car here, I’ll be right back."

Seeing that the car was about to reach the entrance of Shen Siyuan’s residential complex, Shen Siyuan instructed her to find a parking spot by the road, to avoid the trouble of parking inside.

"Do you need to co with you?" Ruan Hongzhuang asked.

"No need." Shen Siyuan opened the car door and stepped out.

After walking a bit, he suddenly realized sothing and turned his head back, only to see Ruan Hongzhuang leaning on the steering wheel looking at him, imdiately revealing a smile when he turned around.

Shen Siyuan smiled back at her, then scratched his head.

He originally wanted to ask her why she was waiting in the lobby downstairs, weren’t they agreed to wait inside the car?

But her words left him with no chance to speak.

Did she just outmaneuver him? Shen Siyuan wondered.

However, looking at her genuine expression just now, she probably did want to see her grandma.

Honestly, if it ca to cunning, Shen Siyuan figured he could not outwit Ruan Hongzhuang; he was barely better than a hobody, with a narrow social circle.

Ruan Hongzhuang is in business, and to make achievents in that field without being shrewd, she would have been crushed to nothing, not even a powerful father would suffice.

anwhile, Yuan Xiaoying was squatting by the roadside at the entrance of Shen Siyuan’s residential complex, counting ants.

By now, she had counted this colony of ants thousands of tis, regretfully unable to calm her nerves.

Anxiety coursed through her, unable to sit still or to stand.

She waited and waited, from left to right, but the immortal she was expecting did not co.

She was tempted to go back and inquire with that magical young girl, yet afraid to miss her chance.

Thus, those hours in the afternoon were excruciating for her.

No matter how tornted she felt, she dared not leave the entrance of the residential complex for a mont, keeping her eyes on the passersby, in hope of the one she was waiting for.

She knew this was her opportunity, her only opportunity, thus she would not give up, no matter what.

"Ah~" Yuan Xiaoying sighed deeply, her eyes filled with confusion.

Her life had taken a cliff-like plumt; in just three short months, everything had turned upside down, and she hadn’t even had the chance to react before her world ca crashing down.

She looked up at the sky and huffed heavily, expressing her indignation to the heavens.

In the past, she would have just cursed out loud, but now she dared not; after all, if immortals existed in this world, who knew whether there really was a Heaven, and being resented for her words would spell disaster...

While she was lost in her thoughts, a familiar male voice sounded from behind.

"Have you been waiting long?"

Yuan Xiaoying hurriedly turned around and saw a young man standing in the sunshine, with the light behind him outlining a golden halo, shining brightly.

"Handso immortal?"

Yuan Xiaoying could almost drool.

Ah... no, this isn’t the ti to think about this.
