Selene POV
I murmured an excuse as I left the n, I needed to clear my head.
Everything was making sense now... so much more. My mind flitted to what that fox had said a year ago when I had first arrived at Greyhound with the girls.
"For one, you’re Xavier’s Luna and ran away just to be with the Lycan King. You left your husband, your pack and your duties and don’t get started with your cursed children... Your children are blue-eyed wolves... babies born with their wolves are a curse to any wolf clan. Wait until the Lycan King finds out...".
My mind pondered on it as I walked... because the more I thought about it, the more I couldn’t help but wonder why I should die. Why I had to choose between and my baby? Even if there was an opportunity to choose my baby and he died? Then when will the circus end
I found myself going towards the small I had been at that night that the strange woman appeared. As I neared it, I wasn’t surprised when I saw a white silhouette standing at the beak of the hill overlooking Moon Whisper. It was as if she was the one who summoned here.
I hastened, breathing hard when I finally joined her. Her eyes were glazed with sadness as she turned to smile at before turning back to stare at nothing. "You know... when you had escaped that plane crash and survived, I honestly thought you’d be so bothered about yourself but when I saw you trying to keep the babies alive... I thought you were foolish," the woman chuckled. "I thought you were simply clinging too much to sothing you weren’t so sure about. You see, babies are unpredictable variables and there’s no telling if one or all of them will turn out right,".
She sighed and turned to face now "But now I understand it, Selene. I understand what it ans to have that mother’s instinct. That love for a human you could easily write off since you’ve never t them before. Now, I understand why you wanted to keep them alive... why you want to protect the one in your womb... it’s all in the maternal instincts and I’m sorry for thinking you foolish... because it seed I have beco one," she chuckled sadly.
"What did you do?" I inquired gently.
"Well, I handed my son, a potion that could take away Noah’s pains completely. The potion would make him go about his day-to-day activity and stay fit and healthy and strong enough to do anything but his final recovery will depend on you,".
"Oh!" I said flatly "That’s nice. At least, I can now plan our trip,".
"What’s wrong?" she asked studying quietly. "I ca because I could see how lonely you were and how much you wanted to talk to . What’s the problem?"
"I have a lot of questions for you no doubt but before all of that, I need to understand sothing about the girls," I started "They were born with clairvoyance... they could see the future and tell it exactly as it will happen. It’s different for both of them. Most tis, Vina would see the near future while Maeve might see the future in the next few seconds and most tis, they can see it all at once. But recently, I noticed they’ve stopped having clairvoyance which I should be thankful for... of course I am but I need to understand what’s going on. My wolf too, Bea has beco silent and then a few days ago, I was healed completely after being poisoned. Years ago... the priestess that tended to told I have the powers of an elental wolf... I need to understand,".
The woman was silent for a while before she turned to , a sad smile on her face. "Seeking is a bad thing, Selene... you don’t feel justified that you should die again but the truth is, you should have died a long ti ago. It was a fate made in ethereal... and the law was simple... stay with your mate for the rest of your life... you must be bond to him,".
"My mate, that made feel like I should have taken my own life?" I snickered "That couldn’t have been the moon goddess’s wish for . To stay with soone like Xavier... I’m married to Noah and never in my wildest imaginations did I think I’d be giving up my life for another... especially a man. I love him,".
"If you had stayed with Xavier... you will suffer a bit, true but maybe in your next life..." she sighed "The truth is, you were supposed to die on that plane that day, but sohow... for reasons unknown to us, the earth protected you... When you stayed unconscious for days... it was the earth that healed and nurtured you...I think part of its essence must have been embedded in you at that ti,".
"Really?" my eyes widened with shock "I assud it was Kragen that took care of since he was the first person to see . Thinking about it now, I forgot to ask him what he was really doing at that ti. I an, did he co to take my soul,".
"No!" the woman shook her head, a slight smile spreading over her face "Back then, Kragen was in the habit of making bargains with creatures that were desperate to live. He would grant them a wish, and in return, they’d help him get back his identity by giving him access to their moon temple in their pack,".
"Moon temple?" my brows arched with confusion "I’ve never heard of anything like that. What do you an?"
"The woman chuckled "A moon temple is where every moon priestess or moon priest hears from the moon goddess herself. It is not known to everyone in a pack because it was ant to be that way. A lot of creatures think they need to worship in the one outside the pack and it’s because the guardians of the temple want to avoid desecration. Also, because of how pure they tend to keep it, no matter what, the moon goddess must always grant their wishes if requests are made through that dium but no creature knows this except Kragen,".
"So, he needed access to the pack for what?"
"So, he could live amongst you and learn where the temple is. It is always in disguise and only the top 1% of the top 1% is aware of its location because it might be as obvious as sunlight yet hidden like darkness. Anyways in all situations, the people he made the bargain with all forgot to keep to their end. So far, you’re the only one who made the effort. Kragen... is so tender-hearted... all the threats he’d make were usually a mouth exercise and nothing more. He cannot hurt a fly,".
"I know that more than anyone," I affird.
"Anyway, I had to give him back his true form since he beca desperate and...".
My blood ran cold as I shuddered turning to stare at the woman as it dawned on what she truly was. The silver-coloured hair, the graceful deanour, the way it illuminated whenever she was around...
"Are... Are you the moon goddess?" I asked, stupefied, hoping she would call my bluff and say she wasn’t. She sighed deeply, then turned to with a cool smile.
"It appears so. This is one of the reasons I hate talking to elentals like you... I usually don’t make such slip-ups, I can’t believe I revealed my identity to you, now it’ll beco awkward or you’d start doing all sorts of respectful stuff to that I find extrely comfortable,".
"No!" I shook my head "I won’t be doing any of that, ma’am. You don’t know how much I’ve wanted to et the moon goddess because I’ve got a lot of questions,". I crossed my hand as she turned to , surprise etched on her face.
"What do you an child?" she asked.
"What do I an?" I scoffed "No wonder Kragen would always defend you at the slightest turn. No matter how much I try to bad-mouth you, he always says sothing nice about you and it used to annoy for the longest ti, turns out you’re his mother,".
"Kragen defended ?" her eyes lit up with joy. "Really?"
"Of course," I huffed "He loves you... even though he doesn’t say much about it... I thought he was thinking of having you inappropriately since he talks about you constantly. The number of tis he talks about how beautiful you are and charming and graceful and kind..." I sighed rolling my eyes. "I’ve wanted to tell him to shut up a thousand tis but it’s the only ti he gets this animated look on his face. It was such a pure delight to watch,".
