Narrator POV
Kragen turned with heavy steps and left the room.
It was as if every step he took, removed sothing from his non-existent form but this was the right decision. He was a god and not a guide, and gods do not interfere in the lives of their subjects.
As he stepped out of the pack house, he t Lilith, one of the Moon goddess’s aides, waiting for him.
"Seriously?" Kragen scoffed "Did you have to co here? I told her I was going to do it. Why did she send you?"
"To make sure you do it," Lilith replied coldly "What is so fascinating with these werewolves that makes you lose yourself every ti? Mother has told you that one day you will get your form, you just need to be patient... what’s the rush?"
"I know you’re jealous of what I have with Selene. She’s a special one and I know I may have done this a thousand and one tis...".
"Three thousand and fifteen tis, Kragen..." Lilith corrected "Every decade, you try to use these innocent people for your selfish interest, I wonder why she still lets you occupy that position. Gosh! So annoying,".
Kragen clenched his fists as he stared at Lilith refusing to be lured into the anger trap, she was setting for him. "It’s easy to judge when you’re not the one affected. I want to be normal, Lilith. Being in this nebulous ball of nothing depresses . I want to be free... This has been going on for millions of years... do you people ever wonder how it is for ? This is my chance... and I will seize it whether you want it or not,".
"Shut up, Kragen!" Lilith hissed "The universe doesn’t revolve around you. C’mon, the moon goddess is waiting for us,".
Without waiting for his consent, Lilith reached out for Kragen, balancing him on her wings as they soared into the sky. Kragen tried not to look down as Moon Whisper kept getting smaller with each second. Soon, they arrived at the ethereal heaven and Lilith set him down. Brushing off the worst of the crease on his clothes, he started towards the temple of the Moon goddess herself.
As usual, the place was a madhouse. He could see servants gliding in and out of the temple with scrolls, vases, wands ... anything you could think of. He knew she was always busy, especially at this ti when the full moon was around the corner. If she wanted to see him – to take a few minutes from her busy schedule it must an sothing.
When he arrived at the door, he gave the doorkeeper his na and purpose and soon he was ushered into a large, empty hall where he was told to wait. He stood there, preparing himself for the worst. This will not be a courtesy visit and he knew that.
"Fenrir," the moon goddess said softly as she entered the hall.
She was dressed in her shiny, silver ceremonial robes with a tiara sitting pretty on her head. She also had a smile on her face as Kragen turned to greet her... she was the only one who calls him by his real na.
"You’ve aged a bit, Fenrir," the moon goddess chuckled warmly patting him on his back "I almost didn’t recognize you. Have you finally taken a mate? You know we will need a successor from your loins, except you want the natural balance of the universe to go out of control. Anyway, before my criticism, I want to comnd you for the great job you’ve been doing so far. You’re not as hard as your father which is a surprise,".
"Just get straight to the point," Kragen sighed "No need to beat around the bush. As you instructed, I have severed ties with the werewolf and I will stop eting her. Is there sothing else I missed out?"
"C’mon Fenrir," she sighed "It’s for your good. You were getting emotionally involved. You’re the King of death... not love. Do you know what these werewolves know you as... they dread you in every way possible... more than they dread . One ntion of your na, they shiver like leaves and all that... You cannot lose yourself in the process and you cannot be with a werewolf either. You’re a god,".
"Be with a werewolf?" Kragen repeated with a scoff "Wait! Do you think I may have fallen in love with Selene?"
The moon goddess gave him a pointed stare then exhaled shaking her head. "Don’t try to deny it. You’ve done it countless tis that I may one of these days just let you do your thing. It’s been a million years already and you’re the oldest bachelor I have up in this space because no goddess is good enough for you. I don’t know how you do it but you keep falling in love with this people,".
"I don’t love, Selene!" Kragen said vehently. "Yes, I might have tweaked a little thing here and there but that’s just . I do not know how to do evil. It’s my nature and you all accepted it. I cannot stand these people suffering and...".
"That’s why you let them live hundreds of years?"
"If this is about that Alpha, I told you, I cannot let him die yet. His grandkids have no one. Until they grow up or can fend for themselves, asking to kill him is wicked. These Werewolves trust and look up to us a lot, let’s not disappoint them,".
"And countless of people who you’ve pardoned several tis, Fenrir," the moon goddess shook her head "It has to stop at so point. Nature must take its course. To give life, death must happen and...".
"That’s enough!" Kragen yelled interrupting the goddess. His chest was heaving with agitation as he tried to calm himself. "Just tell why you wanted to see ,".
"Fine!" the moon goddess sighed "The agreent with Selene... you shouldn’t end it. It might be a silver lining for all of us at the end and also I think it would finally put an end to that century-old curse, once and for all,".
