Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Good Stuff, Girls Don’t Understand!
“What crappy thing did you send! It almost killed my brother,” Huo Sijiao’s voice was high-pitched and carried far. “Last night, my brother was almost scolded to death by my mom and dad!”
“That’s good stuff! You, a girl, wouldn’t understand!”
Zhou Yu argued his point.
“What good stuff? Don’t think I don’t know what it is,” Huo Sijiao said disdainfully, holding a jar of hot chicken soup in her hand.
“I can’t explain it to you,” Zhou Yu said, his temper flaring. He must have owed these siblings sothing in a past life.
Inside the room.
...
Qiao Xi removed all the Golden Needles from Huo Xingzhou’s body and swiftly dressed him.
“Zhou Yu knows about your dical skills, there’s no need to hide it in front of him. But Jiaojiao and mom and dad don’t know,” Huo Xingzhou said softly.
“Mm.”
Qiao Xi responded with a sound, saying, “I’ll go and open the door.”
No sooner had she spoken than the door was pushed open. Huo Sijiao and Zhou Yu squeezed in together.
“Sister-in-law! I’ve co to see you again. This is chicken soup my mom made by hand, it’s for your health,” she boasted, holding the insulated container.
“Huo Er, you’re cutting off over a tiny dicinal pill, is it worth it?”
When the two of them ca together, they were like 500 ducks.
“Jiaojiao, take your sister-in-law out for a walk,” Huo Xingzhou said with a headache, trying to separate them.
“Okay.”
Huo Sijiao imdiately took Qiao Xi’s arm, “Sister-in-law, it’s nice outside, let’s go for a walk. Don’t stay with these stinky n, your thoughts will beco dirty,” she said with a suggestive tone.
Zhou Yu was seething, “I won’t stoop to argue with you.”
“Hmph.”
“Jiaojiao, let’s go quickly,” Qiao Xi urged.
The two of them left briskly, and the room finally quieted down.
“Huo Er, you sure can hold a grudge.”
Zhou Yu casually sat on the edge of his bed, “How co you’re disheveled in broad daylight, what indecent things have you been up to?”
“Can you speak properly?” Huo Xingzhou thodically smoothed out the wrinkles in his clothes and said.
“Fine,” Zhou Yu said, tossing a stack of docunts in front of him. “Huo Beiting is sucking up to the project manager from Tianyuan Group, Mr. Jin, and they’ve got dinner plans tonight. Mr. Jin is asking what to do about you.”
“Let him go, take a few who can hold their liquor, and drink Huo Beiting under the table,” Huo Xingzhou said calmly.
“Alright,” Zhou Yu said nonchalantly, “Do you need to hire soone to bag him and beat him up?”
“If he drinks until he has a bleeding stomach, that will be enough. Then draw him a big pie, and entice him to sign a ‘Synergy Agreent’.”
Zhou Yu said with a sly grin, “Got it.”
Huo Xingzhou’s heart was black.
He wanted to seize all the shares in the hands of the Huo family’s main house.
“Zhou Yu, buy off a few doctors,” Huo Xingzhou instructed, looking at him, “ones who keep tight-lipped, who can be bought.”
“What do you need doctors for?” Zhou Yu asked.
“You’ll know in a couple of days.”
Zhou Yu nodded, “There’s another thing, I need to report to you.”
Huo Xingzhou tilted his chin slightly, indicating for him to go on.
“Your dad called today, said he really liked that… dicinal pill. So I sent all the rest to him, you need to remind him to take it easy,” he said hesitantly.
Huo Xingzhou’s gaze turned instantly sharp.
Zhou Yu cowered, “I just rembered there’s sothing at the company, I’ll leave first!”
In the villa district.
Qiao Xi and Huo Sijiao walked arm in arm down the path, a wealthy area with vast grounds. Each of the villas was lavishly decorated.
“Sister-in-law, are you really going to the hospital for an internship tomorrow? Do you need to back you up?” Huo Sijiao looked at her, soft and fragile, always feeling she would be disadvantaged outside.
Qiao Xi laughed, “I’m not going there to fight.”
“Let’s take a different path.”
Huo Sijiao pulled her away, “That way is unlucky.”
Qiao Xi saw a flash of disgust in her eyes and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s all because of my brother’s car accident. Young Madam, you don’t know what happened back then…” Huo Sijiao hadn’t finished speaking when she saw the man approaching.
Dressed in a suit and shoes, ticulous in appearance. He seed very self-disciplined, a man with good upbringing, more serious than Huo Xingzhou, but not possessing that bone-deep indifference.
“Hmph.”
Huo Sijiao let out a cold snort, “Just can’t seem to avoid his family no matter what.”
As the man saw them, he paused in his steps but then ca closer. Huo Sijiao tensed up, watching him warily.
“Is your brother doing well?” Xu Xiuyuan started, his voice smooth and pleasant.
His features were broad and his deanor like cold jade, he even looked sowhat familiar.
“You needn’t pretend to care. My brother has already found an apprentice of the National Doctor, and he will recover soon. Your Xu Family better stay away from harming my brother.”
“That’s good to know.”
Xu Xiuyuan nodded, his peripheral vision glanced at Qiao Xi who stood aside, a flicker of surprise crossing his eyes.
“What are you staring at my sister-in-law for?” Huo Sijiao stepped in front of Qiao Xi, feeling a bit nervous and guilty, afraid that Xu Xiuyuan would say sothing and make Young Madam uncomfortable.
“Nothing, I just think your brother is quite devoted.”
Xu Xiuyuan said indifferently, “I’ll be going now.”
He turned and left.
Qiao Xi asked curiously, “Who was that?”
“Xu Xiuyuan, an annoying guy. His family is in pharmaceuticals. The Xu Family and the Liu Family are in-laws; his mother is Miss Liu, and that old lady from the Liu Family took her husband’s family na, she’s quite troubleso too.”
Xu Xiuyuan is also the honorary dean of City Hospital, mainly in charge of administrative duties and not dical treatnt.
“So her surna is also Liu?” Qiao Xi wondered, that was rather uncommon. Maybe Madam Liu really loved her husband.
Huo Sijiao cautioned, “Yes. In front of my brother, Young Madam, you must never ntion the Xu Family.”
“Oh.”
Qiao Xi guessed there must be so conflict between the two families.
“Let’s hurry back and have so chicken soup.” Huo Sijiao took her arm and hurried along.
Looking back, Qiao Xi could see from a distance that Xu Xiuyuan seed to be watching her too, stirring a strange feeling within her.
…
The next morning, bright and early.
After getting her things in order, Qiao Xi turned to the man at the dining table and said, “Mr. Huo, I need to intern at the hospital for a while, so I won’t be able to take care of you as much.”
“No problem. It’ll be more manageable in a couple of days.”
Huo Xingzhou was having breakfast gracefully, “Do you need to have the driver take you there?”
Qiao Xi shook her head and said softly next to him, “Mr. Huo, could we keep our relationship from my colleagues at the hospital for the ti being?”
If she beca a regular and continued working there, it would be difficult to explain later.
Huo Xingzhou looked at her in surprise, “Am I that shaful?”
“No. It’s our agreent… I don’t want too much trouble.”
In the end, they were going to get divorced anyway.
The man’s expression turned cold, “Fine.”
Aunt Qian ca out of the kitchen with a lunch box and shoved it into Qiao Xi’s hands, “Young Madam, I’ve heard the hospital food isn’t good. I made you a lunch box. Don’t work too hard, and if it’s too much, just quit. After all, our family is wealthy.”
Qiao Xi smiled.
“Thank you, Aunt Qian, I’ll be going then.”
She stuffed the lunch box into her canvas bag and left with a spring in her step.
Huo Xingzhou felt she was very happy, after all, healing and saving lives was her dream. He had been selfish to keep her so close.
When he could stand up again, Qiao Xi wouldn’t need to conceal her real abilities anymore.
By then, she would surely shine.
After leaving ho, Qiao Xi took a bus to the administrative departnt of City Hospital.
She completed the procedures, got her uniform, and went to the changing room to store her things and get dressed.
When she arrived, the changing room was bustling.
“There, that’s the famous top student from the dical Faculty of Haicheng.” Ye Manman winked and spoke strangely to a group, her tone mocking.
The others exchanged glances, their expressions varied.
