Jason said nothing, he pretended to absorb Zane’s words. In truth, he had understood that was his role as soon as he heard he was participating in a joint-clan tournant.
’So I’m basically being used to show the superiority of the Hachiman clan genes.’ Jason thought. ’That explains why she said I should be on my best behavior.’
None of them spoke after that, both seemingly contemplating.
As they thought the elder appeared, his body suddenly taking form in an open space.
A boy stood next to him, he had contradicting blue hair and striking red eyes.
His expression was unreadable.
’He looks like soone just took a part of him out.’ Jason thought.
He was aware that Hereon’s sister had died, though he didn’t know how she died and he doubted if anyone would tell him. His eyes had seen Titania before the trial had begun and he had scanned her, but after that he never saw her again.
Jason was able to piece the clues left to deduce that Hereon’s sister had died.
"Is everyone ready?" The elder asked, his voice grabbing the attention of all those that had gathered.
But he got no response.
The old man gestured for them to follow him, his long robe trailing behind him like a shroud. From behind he almost looked like a powerful being, and if not for the elder’s shiny bald head he would have fitted the look of a powerful being.
Watching the old man walk, Jason could see the clan guardian’s reasoning when she decided that all elders had to be bald.
The group of four approached the prison-like structure in the distance, from afar, it looked like the old man was dragging them away to jail.
After so minutes they arrived in front of the gates.
Jason stared at the large imposing gate that brought a sense of taking a one-way trip.
The elder moved closer to the gate, his palm glowed as he coated it in mana. He put his palm on the surface of the gate.
The gate reacted, it glowed in an intense light, montarily blinding even Jason.
He had to close his eyes due to the intensity of the light.
’This reminds of a flashbang.’ Jason thought as he covered his eyes with an arm.
After so minutes the light faded.
"Co along." The elder ordered, already making his way through the gate.
Jason spared a glance at his companions before falling in line behind the elder.
With the large gates behind them, they walked towards the impossibly large prison-like structure, its exterior offering hints of what laid inside.
The group arrived at the heavy doors that would lead them into the building.
Jason expected the elder to use his mana to open the door, like he did to the gates. But contrary to his expectations, the old man knocked.
"State your na and reason for visiting." An imposing voice ca from the other side of the door.
"I believe my na alone is more than enough." The elder responded, a faint smirk growing on his face.
"State your na and visit for visiting."
"I am Elric Hachiman of the Hachiman clan."
"Elric Hachiman, state your purpose for visiting." The voice on the other side demanded.
The faint smirk growing on his face vanished in an instant.
"I am here on invite from Him." Elric answered flatly.
"State your reason for visiting." The voice persisted.
"I bring with the participants on the joint-clan tournant." Elric answered, his tone tied with annoyance.
For a mont there was no noise from behind the door, then it creaked open.
The four of them stepped through the heavy doors, and a transformation took place.
The interior of the structure was a contradiction to its exterior, they were both two different things that were not supposed to be together.
They were t with an expansive hall, columns of polished marble rose towards the ceiling, though the marble was much stronger than ordinary marble was supposed to be. Intricate designs adorned the walls, each one at the right place and enhancing the experience of the person seeing it.
"This place isn’t a prison..." Jason’s eyes scanned the surrounding. "...But for so reason, it reminds of a place right out of a novel."
He furrowed his brows as he contemplated on sothing, a new thought that had just arose that took his interests by the reins.
"Of course!" Jason exclaid loudly, his words earning him glances from everyone, even the elder.
He felt a little stupid for exclaiming out loud.
’I rember now.’ Instead he opted not to speak.
’Chapter 1 of TWODK.’
’When the protagonist arrives here, the scene starts in this hall.’ Jason thought. ’He was excited on the chance to having a rematch with Zane.’
’And in the prologue, the beginning of the novel that started abruptly in the middle of a fight. A fight between the prodigy of the Hachiman clan and the protagonist.’
The walls felt so familiar to him. At least, the way that they were described.
’I’m lucky I hadn’t forgotten about it, if I had before I got my near-perfect mory I would be clueless on the situation.’
Jason spared another glance, but this ti it was towards Zane.
’So I get to see a scene straight out from a novel.’ Jason mused, though he wasn’t amused in the slightest.
The group of the Hachiman clan progressed deeper into the large building, with each hall left they entered another great hall.
After several minutes of walking they finally arrived at a grand space, it was different from the nurous halls they had gone through, different in its own way.
This room was as large as the halls but modeled differently, instead of a hall it looked more like an arena for fights.
"This is the place where the joint-clan tournant will take place." The elder inford them as they arrived. "As you all have been inford prior to today, you will compete against the heirs to test your strengths, and for so of you..."
The old man paused, his gaze resting on Jason.
"To gain the opportunity to be given a chance."
’Stop acting like I’m not participating to increase the reputation of the clan.’
If it was so years ago, Jason would have said that out loud.
But he had learned to control the initial recklessness that ca with being young.
’Alright, I have a job to do.’ Jason thought, refocusing his attention on the space in front of them.
That was when the realization hit him full force:
They were the first to arrive.
Jason scowled in annoyance.
It seed like he would have to wait.
