Chapter 498: Chapter 490: Speculation
Leon figured out the issue but didn’t rush, as ultimately, he just felt sothing was amiss, rely a brief distraction, not fear or anxiety.
He waited until he caught a large grouper, not wasting the two hours of sitting idly on the coastal rocks. Then Leon picked up a bucket, left the seaside, and handed the bucket to a maid for cooking, before turning to head to Tassera’s Mage Tower.
When he found Tassera, she was studying ancient texts from the elves, her head slightly lowered, a few strands of hair hanging by her cheeks, long eyelashes gently quivering. After a long ti, she looked up at Leon, tucked her stray hair behind her ear, and asked, “Why do you have ti to co by today?”
With an unchanged expression, Leon said, “Because I miss her.”
“Thank you.” Tassera’s lips curved into a bright smile.
Leon glanced around the room, quickly getting drawn to the ship-in-a-bottle on Tassera’s desk. He picked it up, examining it, and said, “I just went fishing.”
“How did it go?” Tassera raised an eyebrow.
Leon put down the ship-in-a-bottle, gesturing with his hands in mid-air, “A really big grouper. I gave it to the maids and instructed them to prepare a braised grouper.”
“Impressive.” Tassera gave a sowhat perfunctory smile.
She really had no interest in fishing at all, having no clue what the appeal was. Toiling half a day just to catch a fish seed less profitable than doing sothing else in that ti. Little did she know the key to fishing was never the fish, but the process itself.
“And while fishing,” Leon walked to the bookshelf, “I suddenly felt a bit unsettled.”
Tassera paused her page-turning, slowly turning her head to look at Leon, asking, “Then what?”
Leon raised his hand, made a calculation gesture, and said, “The issue is in the North. I can only figure that the problem lies in the North.”
“Divine intervention?” Tassera’s expression turned grave.
“Probably.” Leon said casually, thinking that if it wasn’t for divine intervention, he wouldn’t only be able to determine the problem was in the North. He should be able to figure out more, like ti, place, people, fortune, etc.
“You haven’t gone anywhere recently, have done nothing, and spent most of your ti sleeping, logically speaking, there’s no reason to offend any god.” Tassera closed her book, pondering earnestly for a mont, “The North of the Zhen Dan Kingdom, that’s the Lost Plateau… could it be the Giant God is planning sothing against you?”
Leon folded his arms, quietly listening to Tassera’s analysis.
“You know,” Tassera gently tapped her fingers on the table, “thousands of years ago, Surte ordered a Supre Heaven to go to Aphnas to kill Her Majesty Tiamat.”
“Even if Surte himself stepped up, he’s no match for our Her Majesty Tiamat, right? She is imprisoned in Aphnas, but still formidable.” Leon couldn’t help but laugh, “A re Supre Heaven… I don’t know what to say anymore.”
“He was easily defeated by Her Majesty Tiamat. However, Her Majesty Tiamat didn’t kill him, but cursed him, turning him into a Thorn Demon.” Tassera said disdainfully, “The poor guy hid in the helt he once wore, plotting alone to restore his true form. Thousands of years of solitude drove him insane.”
“What happened in the end?” Leon asked curiously.
“Rescued by a group of adventurers.” Tassera lightly pursed her lips, “He should now be in the divine realm of his god Surte.”
Leon nodded, withholding any comnts.
“Maybe the Giant God’s assassins are on their way.” Tassera looked at Leon, not a bit worried about his safety, “If there really are assassins from the Giant God, how do you plan to handle it? Directly kill them, imprison them, or curse them?”
“We’ll see.” Leon paused, “But it can’t be the Giant God, because the North I ntioned is even farther north.”
“If it’s even farther north… the north of the Lost Plateau is the Red Crown Desert.” Tassera’s eyes showed a hint of puzzlent, “The Ancient Fallen Empire has already perished, leaving behind only a heap of ruins… there are not many gods left, only Divine offspring and Ancient Evil, which have nothing to do with our Zhen Dan Kingdom.”
Leon thought about the Red Crown Desert and said, “Maybe even a bit farther north.”
“A bit farther north, and there’s only the Frozen Soil Wilderness, inhabited by Frost Giants and White Dragons.” Tassera frowned, gently rubbing her temples, “I can’t figure out what could happen there that makes you feel uneasy.”
“Instead of guessing here, it’s best to go see for yourself.” While refining Hongng Purple Qi, Leon needed to concentrate fully, and during his rest, he didn’t want to use his brain.
“Go ahead.” Tassera knew Leon’s strength. In truth, what she knew was only a part of Leon’s capabilities.
Leon wasn’t in a hurry, spent a little more ti talking with Tassera, and after a tender mont, he left.
Tassera stood by the window, her hands resting on the fra, watching Leon transform into a beam of light disappearing into the sky. She returned to the chair at her desk, picked up the ancient book she was midway through, stared at the elvish text on the elvish ancient book, and suddenly murmured, “North, elf, dragon… Dragon Madness Lock?”
That was sothing that happened in the world of Toril.
At that ti, Ferren was in the era of dragons, where they ruled over all lower races at will. The elves were especially dissatisfied with the dragons’ enslavent and sought ways to break free from oppression, eventually conducting years of secret research in the frigid North of Ferren. After much debate over cost and risk, they finally devised the Dragon Madness Lock.
Under the influence of the Dragon Madness Lock, a dragon’s perception would gradually decline, becoming more reckless and anxious, extrely combative and reckless, eventually descending into unconscious destruction and chaos, and even killing one another.
It is said by many that the key to the Dragon Madness Lock is the King Slayer Star, as each appearance of the King Slayer Star heralds the arrival of Dragon Madness. In reality, the Dragon Madness Lock and the King Slayer Star are closely linked, but the existence or functionality of the Dragon Madness Lock isn’t strictly dependent on the King Slayer Star.
The elves bound the Dragon Madness Lock and the King Slayer Star together to alleviate its effects, using this thod to prevent the Dragon Madness from completely sweeping over Ferren.
“Because Leon beca the Dragon God, Fiora founded the church, and Sharon began to make a na for herself, with giant dragons gradually gathering in the Zhen Dan Kingdom… rumors of the impending Dragon Age are rampant, what thoughts might have roused the elves?” Tassera muttered to herself, she thought it had so possibility.
“If I were those elves, seeing the dragons about to rise, should I take preemptive asures?” Tassera tried to think from their perspective.
“I must contact Leon… if the elves really intend to create the Dragon Madness Lock, they surely have prepared, him rushing to the North is dangerous.” Tassera felt a bit anxious, “Hope I’m not too late.”
