Chapter 58: Alliance (2)
Seros dragged his exhausted body and approached Yul.
“Is our lord not here yet?”
“He will arrive soon.”
After checking Seros’s condition, Yul shook his head.
Looking at him, he realized that Kyle should have arrived here first.
“You pushed your Aura to its limit.”
“…….”
“Rest now. I will take over here.”
At the sight of Seros’s body trembling all over and his lips turning bluish, Yul ford a faint smile.
He had done his utmost.
Although Yul had not witnessed with his own eyes how he had fought, he could tell just by seeing his Aura completely depleted.
Catching the staggering Seros, Yul gave an order to the Orks.
“Support him and take him inside. He needs rest.”
Arak ran straight to Seros, grabbed his arm, and looked at Yul.
“Lord, what happened to the Eternal Fla?”
“Kyle restored it. And he even succeeded in hunting the Ice Dragon. Iron is currently leading the Dwarf warriors this way, so we only need to hold out a little longer.”
“Then the Chieftain must be…….”
“Yes. Thank you for helping the tribe while I was away, Arak.”
“I’m glad I could be of help.”
After nodding, Yul turned his gaze toward the monsters.
Just monts ago they had been charging in like madn, but at Yul’s appearance the monsters hesitated and tried to retreat.
As the battle entered a brief lull, the ork warriors confronted the monsters, glaring at them.
In that mont, Yul shouted loudly toward the tribe’s warriors.
“Warriors, listen! There will be no more defense!”
With those words, Yul charged forward holding his Greatsword, and the Kazars followed behind him, emitting a ferocious aura.
From the mont Yul appeared, victory had already tilted toward the Orks.
Overwheld by the montum, the monsters were busy rampaging in an attempt to escape the narrow entrance terrain.
Large monsters trampled smaller ones to flee, while the smaller ones shoved each other, trying to get out first.
In an instant, the area turned into utter chaos.
Standing at the very front of the Ork tribe, Yul unleashed his Blade and cut down the fleeing monsters indiscriminately.
“Push them further!”
Over the two days, the Ork tribe had suffered three hundred dead and four hundred wounded.
With seven hundred warriors having taken heavy losses, they had to make the monsters pay a corresponding price.
Thanks to Seros’s desperate efforts, the damage had been minimized, but that was a result limited to the Ork tribe alone.
‘The monsters also invaded Ragnar’s territory.’
Ragnar, which had ford an alliance with the Ork tribe, would surely be suffering greatly from the monsters as well.
With their greatest force, Seros, tied down here, Yul expected Ragnar’s situation to be far from good.
Breaking through the monsters here might be a way to support Ragnar, who was likely struggling.
Yul’s sword was rougher than ever.
Before Kyle returned, he wanted to clean up this place and create the conditions to support Ragnar.
‘Iron and the Dwarf warriors will soon join us. And once Kyle arrives, this will beco a battle we cannot lose.’
Recalling the overwhelming power Kyle had shown in the fight against the Ice Dragon, Yul bared his teeth.
A human stronger than himself, who had honed his power for a long ti.
Yet it was not jealousy.
‘Before long, I will catch up to Kyle Ragnar.’
Humans did not beco strong rely to protect themselves.
They were beings who grew strong to protect sothing.
Yul, too, had swung his sword to protect his tribe and had lived with all his might to avoid falling behind the Lords.
He did not know whether he could catch up to Kyle, but he knew that as long as he chased after his back, he would grow stronger.
Whoosh—!
The Greatsword let out a murderous sound as it cut down three monsters in one sweep.
As Yul slaughtered monsters at the head of the ork warriors—
Iron had already reached the vicinity of the Orks’ settlent.
“Chieftain, the Ice Wolves have begun reacting! It seems they will arrive soon!”
At a Dwarf warrior’s report, Iron nodded.
“Hurry! We must support the Ork tribe as quickly as possible!”
At Iron’s shout, the Dwarf warriors tightened their grips on their weapons, their fighting spirit flaring.
Not long after, when they arrived at the Ork tribe, Iron was able to see it.
“It seems the nature of a battle tribe hasn’t disappeared.”
The Orks pushed forward without flinching before the imposing sight of monsters filling the entire mountain, and at the very front was Yul, fiercely swinging his Greatsword.
Letting out a dry laugh, Iron soon changed his expression and raised his hand high.
“Dwarf warriors! From this mont, we support the Ork tribe! Let’s go!”
Iron dismounted from the Ice Wolf and ran forward with short strides.
Though there were only three hundred Dwarf warriors, it was by no ans a small force.
“Yul! I’m here!”
At Iron’s booming voice, Yul snapped his head around.
They had fought without rest for three hours, and the ork warriors had broken through the entrance and pushed into the wide mountain terrain.
At the arrival of Iron and the Dwarf warriors, Arak broke into a bright smile.
“Chieftain!”
At Arak’s shout, the Dwarf warriors slid down the slope and charged forward.
They cut down every monster in sight, trying to carve a path to join the Orks.
As if that were not enough, Acacia and mbers of the Special Operations Unit, their bodies drenched in blood, also appeared.
“This feels great!”
“Acacia! I told you not to move so recklessly!”
“Still, nothing beats a frontal breakthrough, right?”
“……You never listen to .”
Letting out a deep sigh, the Special Operations Unit mber quickly regained focus and looked around.
“Where is the Castellan?”
“He’s not the kind of person who’d go off and die sowhere, is he? Don’t worry needlessly—let’s just do our jobs!”
At Acacia’s shaless shout, the Special Operations Unit mbers shook their heads in unison.
“What a lunatic…….”
anwhile, after recovering sowhat from his Aura depletion, Seros stepped back onto the battlefield.
Drawn by a familiar presence, Seros headed there and, upon seeing Acacia and his companions, ford a faint smile.
“Acacia.”
“Huh? You’re still alive?”
“Are you disappointed that I am?”
“Of course not.”
Despite his words, a trace of disappointnt was clearly visible on Acacia’s face.
Of course, Seros, who knew his personality, knew that it was a joke.
“Stop joking around now.”
“……Tch.”
“This was a battle with quite a lot of casualties. Take it seriously.”
At Seros’s warning, Acacia shut his mouth tightly.
As he had said, there were overwhelmingly many monster corpses, but here and there, the corpses of Orks could also be seen.
After fighting for more than two days, it was impossible for there to be no casualties.
“……I’m sorry.”
“Support the Orks until our lord returns. What about Chaplin Castle?”
“About ten thousand monsters sward in. But since they aren’t attacking, the Head of the Family sent us to support the Ork Tribe.”
He wanted to hear the situation in more detail, but this was not the ti to leisurely exchange words.
Seros once again drew his sword.
“Deploy.”
No sooner had the words ended than the mbers of the Special Operations Unit began cutting down the monsters with swift movents.
As the Special Operations Unit arrived alongside the Dwarves, Yul’s gaze sank heavily.
Now there was only one left.
If Kyle arrived here, it would be perfect.
As reinforcents arrived one after another, the monsters gradually began to be pushed back.
The monsters, which had only been fleeing, seed to think this was the limit, and the mont they reached a wide terrain, they unleashed a full-scale offensive.
As a result, the damage to the ork warriors was increasing.
Yul tightly gripped his greatsword and advanced forward once more.
“Push through! We must not stop!”
They were Orks who had already been leading the battle for a long ti.
With their stamina depleted, the intensified battle was rapidly draining the strength they needed to keep fighting.
“Maintain the formation!”
Yul tried his best to keep the formation intact while urging on the ork warriors whose strength was steadily fading.
But once stamina was lost, it did not recover just because of words.
The fact that they had broken through the entrance and pushed this far was already an incredible feat.
“Yul, now is the ti to withdraw. We must preserve our strength until Lord Kyle arrives!”
In the midst of the intensifying battle, Iron ran up to Yul and warned him.
At his words, Yul frowned and looked around.
Just as Iron had said, it did not seem possible to continue leading the battle like this.
Although the tide of battle had tilted, there was still no sign that the number of monsters was decreasing.
It was like a spring that refilled the mont it was scooped out.
“……Are the monsters continuously flowing in from inside the mountain range?”
“Yes. Regrettably, now is the ti to withdraw.”
Before long, night was approaching.
Aron, who was observing the monsters’ movents from atop the walls of Chaplin Castle, tilted his head.
He could not understand why they were not attacking.
‘It’s as if they’re using tactics. Are they trying to tie down Ragnar, which still has the capacity to support the Ork Tribe…….’
Aron crossed his arms and closed his eyes.
That monsters, which lacked reason or judgnt, were targeting sothing while refusing to move in front of Chaplin Castle made no sense.
But this was Ragnar, where the Monster Mountain Range lay.
There was nothing impossible here, and nothing that could be stated with certainty.
Having organized his thoughts, Aron finally opened his eyes.
“Lady Bianca.”
“Yes, Military Strategist?”
“We’ll have to break through them.”
“……You an leading Chaplin Castle’s forces and moving into the mountain range?”
Though she was younger than Acacia, she was a powerhouse who had reached a level comparable to his within the Special Operations Unit.
At her question, Aron nodded firmly.
“Sothing feels off. It looks like the reason the monsters aren’t moving is to pin down Ragnar’s forces.”
“……So you’ve judged that there are those controlling the monsters.”
“If not, there’s no explanation. Especially when our lord is absent, there’s no reason for them not to advance on Chaplin Castle.”
At Aron’s explanation, Bianca nodded in agreent.
In truth, she too had been pondering the monsters’ movents.
She roughly knew the answer, but because it seed unbelievable, she had kept silent.
“Let’s move, Military Strategist.”
“I’ll go see the Head of the Family.”
“Then I’ll prepare for deploynt.”
At Bianca’s words, Aron nodded and hurried down from the walls.
Heading straight for the Head of the Family’s Office, Aron deliberately ignored the muffled sounds coming from inside and knocked.
“Head of the Family, this is Aron. May I co in for a mont?”
“Co in.”
The mont Aron opened the door and entered, he spoke toward Pramo, who was filled with worry.
“Head of the Family, I believe we need to break through.”
“So the Military Strategist ca to the sa conclusion as I did.”
A vague sense of unease washed over Aron, and he looked at Pramo with doubtful eyes.
But Pramo rose from his seat and spoke first.
“Could you pass along the order to prepare the entire army for deploynt? This ti, I will be deploying as well.”
“That won’t do! Even if you are the Head of the Family, you must remain at Chaplin Castle!”
“There’s no aning in
staying alone at Chaplin Castle. With Ragnar’s key forces already committed, if the one responsible remains behind, morale will fall.”
“Head of the Family…….”
“Above all, the Orks are Ragnar’s allies. Knowing an ally is in crisis and taking no action would be an act of disgracing Ragnar’s honor.”
Pramo’s eyes shone sharply.
He was not as overwhelmingly powerful as Kyle, but regardless, he was still a man of Ragnar.
He could not hide behind others.
“Elder Saie!”
At Pramo’s shout, Elder Saie, who had been waiting nearby, rushed over at once.
“You called for ?”
“Prepare for departure. I will personally move to support the Ork Tribe.”
