Chapter 57: Alliance (1)

Seori was charging forward at a speed more than twice as fast as when she had moved toward the Dwarf Tribe’s settlent, living up to her status as the Ice Wolf Leader.

At the trendous speed, Yul, who was riding on Seori’s back, bit his lip.

An enormous pressure was being applied, but it was not at a level that Yul, a Master, could not endure.

Still, because fatigue had accumulated in his body from the battle with the Ice Dragon, it was simply painful.

‘It took a full day to reach the Dwarf Tribe’s settlent, but at this speed, we can arrive within half a day.’

Yul was certain.

That the settlent would absolutely not be breached before he arrived.

The human called Seros was a powerhouse with martial strength comparable to his own.

Moreover, he was not so weak that even ork warriors would fall without aning.

However, what Yul worried about was Ragnar.

The monsters that had invaded the tribe would inevitably spill toward Ragnar’s castle.

Even if he arrived within half a day, the reality was that they still had to endure longer until Iron arrived.

“Just what reason caused the monsters to move?”

Despite Seros holding the line, the monsters had advanced.

‘If they were monsters that sensed a Master’s presence, they should have instinctively hidden themselves…… Was my prediction wrong?’

As Kyle had once said, neither he nor Kyle could remain in the mountain range at all tis.

Just as the Ice Dragon had awakened, if incidents like this continued to occur, situations where both Kyle and Yul had to leave their posts would likely increase.

If they could not determine the reason the monsters had moved, it might beco difficult for either Yul or Kyle to leave their position at all.

As his worries deepened, Seori, having sprinted for a long while and reached the place where the Ork Tribe was settled, let out a powerful howl.

Awooooo—!

At the sight of Seori stretching her neck and howling, Yul dismounted from her back.

Soon after, Ice Wolves responding to Seori’s howl revealed themselves from various places nearby.

They were Ice Wolves that had been moving together with Dwarf warriors for reconnaissance.

However, the Dwarf warriors who should have been with them were nowhere to be seen.

“……Where are the Dwarves?”

In response to Yul’s question, one Ice Wolf vigorously scraped the ground with its paw and turned its head.

Judging by how it shifted its gaze toward the direction where the Ork Tribe was settled, it seed the Dwarf warriors had rushed out to block the monsters.

“It must have been a difficult decision, but I’m glad you stepped forward.”

Helping the Orks and Ragnar without Iron’s orders—Yul clenched his large hand tightly.

“Seori, return to the Dwarf settlent. It will be faster for you to go back, pick Kyle up, and bring him than for him to run here.”

As if she understood Yul’s words, Seori turned her body around.

Even after breaking through an enormous distance nonstop at full speed, Seori showed no sign of exhaustion.

He had thought he knew Ice Wolves well, but he had not expected the leader’s ability to be to this extent.

Yul stared beyond the direction Seori was heading and took a deep breath.

‘I never even imagined we could hunt an Ice Dragon. As expected, my judgnt was right.’

If he had not compromised with Kyle and had instead chosen war with Ragnar, the outco would have been obvious without even seeing it.

Of course, the Ork Tribe’s warriors were strong, but not to the level of Kyle or Seros.

In fact, just the two of them stepping forward would have been enough strength to conclude the war with the Ork Tribe.

Thinking about a course of events that never happened, Yul let out a brief sigh of relief.

However, now was not the ti to waste on such thoughts.

“We must move quickly.”

With a resolute expression, Yul gripped his greatsword and advanced swiftly toward the settlent.

Arak, the Dwarf who had co to the Ork Tribe’s settlent for reconnaissance, swung the axe in both hands without pause.

At the sa ti, Arak shouted toward the twenty-eight Dwarves who were standing with him, blocking the monsters’ advance.

“Hold the line!”

By Arak’s judgnt and decision, they had chosen to support the Ork Tribe.

Although they had not received Iron’s permission, in such an urgent situation there was no ti to return to the tribe, seek approval, and then move.

At that mont, the shout of Yahan, who was commanding the ork warriors, rang out.

“Arak! The left flank is starting to collapse!”

“Unit 1, support the left! Units 2 and 3, hold on even if it kills you!”

As Arak’s order fell, the Dwarf warriors withdrew in perfect unison and imdiately redirected themselves toward the left.

While Yahan and Arak were holding the front line, Seros was slaughtering monsters even further ahead.

There was no one else here with the martial strength capable of raising allied morale.

That was why Seros had swung his sword for nearly two days without having ti to rest.

He had struggled with all his might to protect this place.

Though he was a veteran who had survived countless wars, he had never experienced a battle this brutal.

‘No matter how much I cut them down, there’s no end in sight.’

Feeling the trembling in his hands, Seros lifted the corners of his mouth bitterly and recalled what Kyle had said when he first ca to Ragnar.

— Ragnar is different. From now on, you’ll feel just how much more brutal war against monsters is compared to war against humans.

Until now, he had never once agreed with those words.

Even in wars against tens of thousands of monsters, he had never felt like this.

But from the mont Kyle left his post, Seros was beginning to understand what those words truly ant.

“No more……”

Seros trailed off and let his sword hang downward.

To raise morale, he had been forcing himself to consu Aura excessively.

Driven solely by the resolve to endure, he had been using his depleted Aura as efficiently as possible, but now he could no longer continue the fight.

He wondered if he should keep holding on, at least for the sake of the ork warriors who were enduring so stubbornly, but if he pushed himself any further, he might suffer severe internal injuries.

As Seros retreated, Arak swung his axe and leapt out in front of him.

“You’ve worked hard.”

“This seems to be my limit, Arak.”

“……I think just holding out this long is already incredible.”

It was not sarcasm, but words of genuine admiration for Seros’s fighting spirit.

No matter how much lord-class martial strength one possessed, fighting nonstop for two days without a mont of rest was no easy feat.

It was impossible without that level of stamina, endurance, and ntal fortitude.

Whirl—thud!

Skillfully spinning his axe, Arak buried it into the forehead of a charging Orc and looked at Seros.

“Leave this place to us and take even a little rest. Only then will we have a chance at victory, won’t we?”

Only if Seros recovered his strength could this battle be drawn out any longer.

Yahan, seemingly of the sa mind as Arak, had already run over to where Seros stood.

“I ask you to take command, Seros.”

“…….”

“I’ll take the front line now.”

Yahan placed a hand on Seros’s shoulder and nodded.

No one had the right to bla Seros for stepping back.

He fought with all his might and upheld his honor as a knight.

Now it was Yahan’s turn.

Because he had to command the Orks, he had been unable to stand at the front and had remained in the rear until now. But now, it was ti to hand over command authority to Seros and fulfill his role so that the tribe could endure.

“Sorry, Yahan. I couldn’t hold out for more than this…….”

“Don’t say that. No one doesn’t know that you did your utmost and fought to protect our tribe. Thank you.”

Srrrng—

Yahan drew the curved blade at his waist and strode forward proudly.

“Arak, on behalf of the Ork Tribe, I offer my thanks.”

“When I think of the grace that descendant of Ragnar bestowed upon the Dwarves, this was the natural choice.”

Human, Ork, and Dwarf looked at one another.

Those who had once fought fiercely as enemies.

But then and now were different.

“Have the Dwarf warriors take rest as well. We will hold the line.”

Yahan raised his curved blade high into the sky.

Because Seros had held out this long, they had been able to preserve the stamina of their main forces.

“For the comrades who fought with the resolve to die, raise your weapons!”

At Yahan’s shout, two Kazars revealed themselves.

The blue-skinned Kazar and the white-skinned Kazar stood proudly at Yahan’s side.

“Deploy the upper warriors. We hold no matter what until the Lord arrives.”

At Yahan’s words, the Kazars nodded and raised their hands high.

With their signal, three hundred Orks appeared and drew their weapons at the sa ti.

“For the honor and pride of the tribe!”

The Kazars and upper warriors charged toward the monsters filling the entrance.

At that mont, Seros felt a massive presence and sharply turned his head.

Recognizing whose presence it was, a deep smile spread across his lips.

“You’ve co.”

At Seros’s low murmur, Arak lifted his head toward the cliff where Seros’s gaze rested.

The Ork Lord who had just arrived from the Dwarf settlent.

Yul revealed himself atop the cliff that had been artificially created.

“Now it’s ti to counterattack.”

The voice muttered from atop the high cliff.

It might have been drowned out by the sounds of battle, but every Ork clearly heard his voice.

Yul leapt down from the cliff and landed on the ground with a trendous roar.

Dust billowed up, but when Yul unleashed his montum using Aura, the thick dust vanished cleanly.

Yul slowly straightened from a posture where one knee had been on the ground and walked forward.

The Orks parted to make way for him, their faces lighting up.

“Lord!”

“Protect the pride of the Orks. Retreat will not be permitted.”

The appearance of the monsters affected not only the Ork Tribe but also Chaplin Castle.

Fortunately, Pramo and the Ragnar Knight Order were staying at Chaplin Castle under the pretext of a conference.

“Head of the Family, we’ve roughly identified the number of monsters.”

As Aron, clad in armor, made his report, Pramo gently closed his eyes.

“How many?”

“Ten thousand.”

“…….”

“Still, the fortunate part is that all the monsters are concentrating on Chaplin Castle. So far, none have flowed toward Casio Castle.”

“Has there been any word from my brother or Lord Seros?”

“There was a letter sent by the Castellan. He said that our lord has entered the mountain range to assist the Dwarf Tribe. Since the Ork Lord is moving together with him, the Castellan reported that he is in no position to withdraw.”

Opening his eyes, Pramo looked out the window.

The monsters that had advanced toward Chaplin Castle were currently in a lull.

For so reason, the monsters that had been advancing ferociously suddenly stopped in front of Chaplin Castle.

The fact that they neither attacked nor advanced, simply forming ranks before the lines, left Pramo bewildered.

“Why are those things not attacking the castle…….”

“We have not been able to determine that yet.”

“Is the Ork Tribe’s defense holding up?”

“They say the number of monsters exceeds twenty thousand.”

“……Then could you look for a way to support the tribe, even if it ans going around?”

“I’ll look into it, but you needn’t worry about a breach.”

As long as Seros was there, the possibility of the Ork Tribe being breached was nonexistent.

The reason Aron could move confidently and devise plans as a military strategist also stemd from Seros’s martial strength.

Although Kyle had left his post, there was firm belief that Seros would protect them no matter what.

At Aron’s words, Pramo silently turned his gaze.

“Sir Acacia.”

“Yes, Head of the Family.”

“Please devise a way to support the Ork Tribe while leading the Ragnar Knight Order. Even if the Castellan is there, variables can arise anyti, anywhere.”

However, Acacia shook his head at Pramo’s words.

“I will break through with only my subordinates.”

“Sir Acacia…….”

“There’s no need to worry too much. They’re strong. It’s just that until now, there’s been no major crisis, so they lacked presence. Once the stage is set, they’re the kind who will always deliver.”

Aron, who had been listening to Acacia, nodded as well.

The Special Operations Unit, the group once called the demons of the Tylers Empire.

Having survived to the end of wars, they possessed formidable martial strength.

‘If we’re talking about Exford Interdiate Level being the weakest, the Special Operations Unit is probably the only group like that.’

Among them, the weakest purely in terms of combat power was Aron himself.

But Aron had a mind so exceptional it more than compensated for his martial strength.

Even so, Aron looked at Acacia with a sowhat worried expression.

No matter that they were the Special Operations Unit, breaking through a monster legion that had ford ranks and lay in wait before the castle would be no easy task.

“Sir Acacia, rather than breaking through, it would be better to move by detouring. Even if you reach the Orc settlent, if your stamina is depleted, there will be limits to how much help you can provide.”

“No need to worry. In any case, I’ll leave Bianca behind. There needs to be soone to protect the Head of the Family.”

“Will that be all right?”

“Of course. Then I’ll be off, Head of the Family.”

Acacia exited the Castellan’s study where Pramo was staying.

Soon after, wearing a crooked grin, he looked beyond the castle walls.

“This ti, I can really run wild.”
