Naomi didn’t understand what was going on between deia and Lucian, but their chemistry was a little off that day.

deia was trying her best to avoid him, while Lucian seed to want to say sothing to her.

"What happened between you two?" Naomi whispered to her as deia filled the well.

"Nothing."

"I don’t believe you." Naomi lowered her voice so no one but deia could hear. "Were you two sleeping together or what?"

deia jumped and shouted, "What?! No!"

Her voice made Harry and Lucian turn their heads toward her. Lucian asked, "Are you okay?"

deia just gave him a thumbs up in response, then lowered her head. "Well, basically, yes, but it’s not like that."

Naomi narrowed her eyes, feeling increasingly suspicious of her. "Then explain it."

deia clicked her tongue. She wasn’t obligated to explain her situation to a human, but why did she feel the need to spill her guts?

She asked Naomi to co closer and then gave her a brief explanation of what had happened last night.

Naomi gasped. "You what?!"

deia shut her mouth. "Sshh ...quiet. Do you think I made a mistake?"

After she cald down, Naomi spoke, "I’m not the one who can answer that. You need to talk to him."

No way!

deia would rather jump off a cliff than have to ask Lucian that.

"Sotis what you think is bad isn’t necessarily bad for soone else." Naomi patted her shoulder. "Now get up and talk to him."

"Hey, where are you going?" asked deia as Naomi walked away.

"I’m going to rot so plants so I can’t protect you from your teenage crush anymore." Naomi walked backward, giggling at her.

"I said I’m not a teenager!"

But she still hadn’t had the courage to face her crush like an adult.

In the end, deia still avoided Lucian, even during the preparation eting.

Fortunately, she didn’t have to talk much because Lucian had taken over the role of leader.

Lucian stood in front of the villagers. He spread out the maps and stuck them on the wall for everyone to see. "We will divide the journey into four batches."

"The first group will consist of the people who can handle the vehicles. They will drive more vehicles and return to the village."

The second batch will carry the elderly and children, accompanied by caretakers to take care of them.

The third batch would be people who have the ability to build or fix things, so they could start making temporary shelters. They would co with the farrs and the crops.

Finally, the last group would carry the remaining villagers and the last of the supplies, making sure that no one or anything important was left behind.

"The hunters will be separate into four batches and will be responsible for protecting their group." Lucian looked at Harry. "I will let Harry choose the group for you."

Harry nodded. "Not a problem."

"I can’t believe we’re really leaving," one of the elders muttered. "I’ve lived in this land since I was a child, even before the Apocalypse began."

deia couldn’t help but say, "Sotis the changes are painful, but they are necessary." Her eyes filled with sadness as she continued, "Leaving is hard, but staying will only make you suffer more in the end."

At least they had a chance to leave the place in peace, while deia had to die to leave hell.

Lucian’s erald eyes caught the subtle tremble in her voice. The way her gaze lingered on the floor made her look like she was in so much pain, but no one could see that.

"That’s all." He couldn’t keep his focus as deia seed to get more upset. He said to the villagers, "The first batch leaves tomorrow morning, so you better start packing now. If you have anything else to discuss, just tell Chief Eldric or Harry."

"I ... have sothing more important to do."

Without waiting for anyone to respond, Lucian stepped away. He walked over to deia and gently tugged at her hand. "deia, are you all right?"

deia jumped when she heard his soft voice. Since when did Lucian stand in front of her?

She turned left and right. "Is the eting over?"

"Not yet, but we can leave early." Lucian grabbed her hand before she could run. "We need to talk."

What talk?

deia was drenched in cold sweat. She was afraid Lucian was going to tell her to fuck off because he didn’t like what she did last night.

She lied, "I have sothing else to do."

deia walk out of the factory. She tried to avoid Lucian, but he followed her around.

Before she could go any further, Lucian grabbed her hand. "You’re just trying to avoid ."

deia replied without turning around. "I’m not."

"deia." Lucian’s hand slipped from her wrist to her palm, making sure deia didn’t feel any pain from his grip. "You’ve been avoiding since this morning. If this is about last night, we should talk about it now."

deia’s face turned pale. "I-I..."

Other people might have thought that deia was overreacting. It was just a hug, nothing more, so why should she be so scared?

She didn’t even tremble with fear when she faced monsters or evil people.

But this kind of thing had scared her to death.

It was because she was afraid that Lucian would hate her.

If she wanted Lucian to love her, she had to be perfect, right?

Doing sothing without his knowledge would be considered a form of disobedience, right?

In the novels deia had read, the male lead usually loved the female lead because she was adorable, kind, and pure.

deia, on the other hand, didn’t think she had any of those qualities. Her personality sucked, her mind was impure, and she wasn’t lovable at all.

The system was right. How could a man as gentle and kind as Lucian love her?

"If you think I’m going to be mad at you for hugging last night, you’re wrong." Lucian looked into deia’s blue eyes and said, "I like it when you hug . Actually, if you don’t mind, I want to hug you more."
