Nico stared at her, unsure whether to feel honored or burdened by her words. His grip on the bow tightened as his heart filled with so much emotion.

deia also didn’t like the concept of putting the burden on just a few people. However, she knew a lot about humans’ nature.

Eventually, they would force him to beco their hope and if Nico couldn’t handle the pressure he might beco the Lost.

deia thought it would be worse than seeing him die.

[Your heart is so soft now, Host.]

deia groaned. ’Oh, shut up.’

She was just being sentintal after killing so many kids in the Warstock.

"It’s a lot to ask of you," deia admitted, crouching to his eye level. "And I know it’s hard. But if you run away now, you’ll be running for the rest of your life."

Her words sank in, heavier than the bow in his hands. Nico swallowed hard, and all of the anger in his heart suddenly disappeared.

"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have gotten mad at you," Nico said, his voice low and filled with frustration. "I’m just angry because I keep failing, no matter how much I practice. Maybe I’m just not talented enough for this."

"Nonsense," deia stood up. Her tone turned sharp and icy. "Even a man without hands can learn to wield a weapon if he has the will to do it."

She pushed him back to the training ground. "Now, co on. I want you to hit the bullseye at the end of the day."

deia climbed on the boulder so she could observe other students. She had teached around 7 students since the first day.

The number wasn’t that impressive, but that was because the population at the base was still relatively small.

She sighed, thinking she might need to adjust her way to teaching. Perhaps if she softened her attitude, she could train more people without worrying about giving them a heart attack.

When she worried about having to beco nicer, she suddenly heard the system’s annoying voice.

[Host, I want to remind you about your romance quest.]

[Ti-Limit: 4 days.]

"You’re seriously not going to give a clue?" deia groaned in frustration. "You forbid from asking Lucian or his family, so how am I supposed to figure out his old job?"

"Does ’soldier’ not count as his old job?"

[The system wants you to find the information about his job before the apocalypse, Host!]

"You didn’t specify in that quest," deia said, pausing for a mont. "If I’m not mistaken, all you asked was for to find out Lucian’s forr occupation, so soldier counts!"

[No! The system won’t count that as his forr occupation!]

"Why not?!"

[Do you think Lucian wants to admit that he was a soldier to others?]

deia imdiately closed her mouth, the thought hitting her like a brick.

Of course, Lucian wouldn’t want to admit it.

It would be like digging up his deepest traumas, and deia didn’t want him to feel bad anymore.

But, wait.

The system even didn’t care about his trauma back then.

"You’re just trying to find an excuse!" she snapped.

[Host, you just have to try harder to find his information!]

"I’m trying hard enough! You’re just too hard to please!"

deia was silent for a mont because her words sounded exactly like sothing Nico would say.

If this wasn’t karma, then deia didn’t know what it was.

While deia was lost in thought, she suddenly heard the sound of many cars approaching the base.

"Leader! I see people coming!" reported the guard from the tower.

deia imdiately jumped off the boulder and walked toward the gate.

"Who are they?" Nico followed behind her, clutching his bow. "Are they bandits?"

"No, they’re not." deia pushed Nico to stand behind her. "I don’t think bandits can get too close to the gate.."

Richard had helped her to set up traps in Red Canyon, making it impossible for outsiders, like bandits, to pass through without getting injured, let alone reach the gate.

The only people who could detect these traps were those who had set them, people from Junk Garden and the Red Star Alliance.

"I think they’re from the Junk Garden," guessed deia, but she didn’t let her guard down.

"But why didn’t they bring materials to build the base?" Nico asked, curious.

deia had the sa question in her mind. Richard had promised to return to the Red Star Alliance next week with more materials to build sturdy quarters for the winter.

However, why did they arrive so soon?

"Let go of !"

deia furrowed her brow when she heard the sound of a woman’s scream coming from the car, not just one, but several.

Sothing was wrong.

"Bear!" deia called the wolf. "Bring Lucian here!"

Bear howled once before it ran as fast as the wind to the place where Lucian was training his students.

deia summoned her abyssal sword and approached the gate. She signaled to the guards to raise their weapons toward the cars, ready to shoot if they posed a threat.

"Don’t shoot!" A man extended his hand from the car. He shouted, "We’re just delivering things from The Junk Garden’s Leader!"

"Then step out of the car so I can see your faces," deia said firmly. She sharpened her gaze and gripped the hilt of her sword.

She waited for a mont, but no one answered her except for ear-piercing screams. deia creased her forehead, realizing that the won’s voices were oddly familiar to her.

"Our leader promised to speed up the construction if you don’t let them escape from your base!"

His statent only made deia more confused. But before she could process their words any further, they suddenly threw a group of won out of the car, five won, to be exact.

"It’s so hard to bring them here, so please! I beg you, don’t let them escape!"

One of the won, who looked similar to Lucian, shouted, "You bastards! How dare you force us to leave the fucking dump field!"
