Never Leave

Early the next morning, before Han Xi left the house, she received a report from the butler.

“Miss Qin is requesting to visit the villa owner.”

The villa they were in seed to cover just over 200 square ters, but the surrounding fence and front yard took up nearly half the hillside.

The surveillance the butler referred to was from a cara on the outermost gate.

All legitimate visitors had to pass through this gate to reach the core area.

Except for soone like i Chuanchuan, who had unexpectedly spoken to Fang Zhou by the fence.

Han Xi was sipping milk at the dining table when she glanced at the tablet, her actions halting, her expression darkening.

Standing tall outside the gate was a woman with a striking, vibrant face.

Who else could it be but Qin Yun?

Han Xi hadn’t expected Qin Yun to arrive so quickly and accurately.

She had chosen the most secluded location possible, yet these people still found her.

Could this be a destined entanglent that no one could escape?

No, Han Xi didn’t believe in fate.

She set down her cup, looking at the butler, issuing her first order of the day.

“Refuse her, and make sure she leaves promptly.”

Han Xi’s hard-won peaceful life couldn’t be disrupted.

Moreover, she was confident that without her consent, Qin Yun couldn’t enter.

The entire hillside, inside and out, was filled with her people; not even a mosquito could get in.

The butler bowed respectfully, replying, “Yes,” before quickly leaving to handle the matter.

The exquisite breakfast on the table lost its appeal; Han Xi quickly ate two pieces of toast and drank her milk, finishing her al.

She rose and went to Fang Zhou’s room, knocking on the door.

“Co in.”

Qin Yun’s appearance had unsettled Han Xi, though she remained outwardly calm. Seeing Fang Zhou lying peacefully in bed, she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Only seeing him could ease her mind.

“Han Xi, why are you here? Shouldn’t you be at work?”

Zhou Chong—no, Fang Zhou—looked at her with confusion.

At 7 a.m., Han Xi had already checked on him, giving the doctor many instructions and reluctantly saying goodbye, explaining she had an important eting.

Now, it wasn’t even ti for the eting to start, yet she was back?

Han Xi closed the door, walked to the bed, and suddenly hugged Fang Zhou, nestling into his embrace.

The warmth of his arms eased her anxiety over Qin Yun’s arrival.

She thought: With him by her side, no one could take him away.

Fang Zhou sensed the woman’s unease, wrapping his arms around her, gently patting her back, teasing lightly, “What’s wrong? Can’t bear to leave ?”

In heavy atmospheres, matching tones can trigger extre emotions, so Fang Zhou chose a different approach.

But now, the teasing seed ineffective.

Han Xi hugged him tighter.

She clung to his waist, as if trying to rge with him, until they beca one.

Fang Zhou heard her whisper in his ear, “Yes, I can’t bear to leave you. Please don’t leave .”

Her voice was soft, barely audible, trembling like the last leaf clinging to a branch in the cold wind.

Had Han Xi ever shown such vulnerability?

The feeling stirred a sense of pity in Fang Zhou.

He silently placed a hand on her head, kissing her forehead like a knight pledging to protect his princess.

“Okay, I won’t leave you.”

“Never leave ?”

At that mont, Han Xi seed like a persistent child, seeking the answer she wanted.

Until she saw him nod firmly, saying with equal conviction.

“Yes, never.”

Tears welled in Han Xi’s eyes.

She knew she was despicable, using such ans to keep her beloved man, taking advantage of his incomplete mory to claim she was his wife.

And now, she deceived him into making a promise of “forever,” sothing the world deed impossible.

Yet, she couldn’t help but feel excited and moved.

Even if it was a fleeting love, a temporary togetherness, a deceitful promise, she was willing to indulge.

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell today?”

Fang Zhou noticed Han Xi’s odd behavior, asking gently, like any caring husband.

His eyes were full of concern, his expression slightly anxious, seemingly from not understanding her behavior.

Han Xi shook her head; the one unwell was him.

She finally left his embrace, asking about his condition.

“How are you? Does your head still hurt?”

Though she’d asked earlier, she felt the need to check again.

Fang Zhou shook his head, assuring her he was fine.

“No worries, probably just a little cold from being on the balcony too much.”

“I’ll rest for a couple of days; no need to worry.”

He glanced at the wall clock, surprised, reminding Han Xi.

“It’s almost nine; aren’t you going to the office?”

The eting was at ten, and driving to Han Xi’s company took at least an hour, not to ntion possible traffic.

Han Xi knew she couldn’t delay; today’s eting was crucial for the year’s market strategy.

She stood, kissing his cheek lightly, like a dragonfly skimming water.

“I’m off; rest well.”

Fang Zhou nodded, watching her leave.

Alone in the room, he looked out the window, just as the sun was obscured by clouds, dimming the light. The gloomy sky was like a vast gray curtain, suffocating.

The wind began to howl, making the windows creak, foretelling an approaching storm.

His low murmur echoed in the room.

“The weather’s changing.”
