Disobedience ans Becoming a Specin

After leaving the hospital, Fang Zhou sat in the passenger seat, watching the streetlights and buildings pass by, feeling drowsy.

Han Xi glanced at him, gripping the steering wheel, softly reminding, “Get so sleep. I’ll wake you when we arrive.”

Fang Zhou had complete trust in Han Xi, especially after she helped him escape the highlands and return to Kyoto to see his sister.

“Okay.”

He dozed off, only to wake in a changed situation.

He felt bound, his mouth taped shut, unable to speak.

His eyes were covered with a black cloth, leaving him blind.

The air carried a pungent sll, like cheap coconut essence.

Panic rose in Fang Zhou’s heart: had Qiao Sisi and Chu Xinran captured him again?

As he pondered his predicant, footsteps approached, stopping beside him.

Fang Zhou squird, trying to struggle, but it was futile.

The ropes were tight, and struggling only dug them deeper, causing pain.

“Mmm mmm!”

He tried to make noise, but only muffled sounds erged, useless.

Suddenly, the blindfold was removed, light flooding his vision.

The overhead light was blinding, making his eyes water.

“Finally awake.”

A female voice ca from beside him; Fang Zhou recognized it as Han Xi.

He turned to see her, usually formally dressed, now in casual white—no, it looked more like a doctor’s coat?

“Mmm!”

Fang Zhou tried to call her, but failed.

Han Xi’s expression was emotionless, focusing on sothing in her hands.

It was a bottle of clear liquid, the source of the pungent sll.

Scissors and syringes lay beside her.

She looked like a professional doctor.

“Mmm!”

Fang Zhou struggled again, trying to sit up, but his bound body was powerless, his movents awkward like a squirming larva.

Fear crept in; he didn’t understand Han Xi’s intentions.

Wasn’t she supposed to take him back to the hospital?

Could it be...

A suspicion ford in his mind.

Fang Zhou stared at Han Xi, eyes sharp, breaking into a cold sweat at her indifferent gaze.

Han Xi had no intention of taking him to the hospital; she might imprison him like Qiao Sisi!

Out of the wolf’s den, into the tiger’s lair.

This was Fang Zhou’s reality.

He should have known; Han Xi was a hidden obsessive, unlikely to let him go.

Her earlier help was a smokescreen, lulling him into complacency.

Sensing his change in deanor, Han Xi finally looked up, approaching Fang Zhou.

She set the bottle down, stepping closer, tearing the tape from his mouth.

“Awake? Say what you want quickly, or you won’t get another chance.”

Fang Zhou, confused, asked anxiously, “What are you doing? Let go!”

Han Xi shook her head, calmly saying, “Can’t let you go, not after bringing you here.”

Fang Zhou realized the room was unusual.

The shelves were filled with items—specins of plants and animals!

Insects, butterflies, even snakes displayed like trophies.

Han Xi followed his gaze, her expression shifting subtly, her tone more excited.

She stepped aside, ensuring Fang Zhou could see the room clearly.

“See? I made all these specins myself.”

“You...”

Fang Zhou realized he didn’t truly know Han Xi.

He thought she was a workaholic, her only hobby making money.

But she had such a unique pasti.

The cost of collecting and making so many specins must be imnse.

Yet Han Xi never ntioned it... was Fang Zhou too careless, or was Han Xi too guarded?

In the next mont, Han Xi produced a butterfly specin, holding it before Fang Zhou, excitedly asking, “Do you think it’s beautiful?”

The butterfly, preserved with open wings, showed vivid patterns and colors, lifelike.

“I can’t appreciate it.”

Fang Zhou felt a chill, speaking honestly.

If he said it was beautiful, would Han Xi give him so?

“Alright, everyone has their taste, I respect and understand that.”

Han Xi nodded, not disappointed by his answer.

“But if you don’t like it, that’s tricky...”

She placed the specin aside, muttering.

Fang Zhou frowned, puzzled, “What?”

What did it matter if he didn’t like specins?

Han Xi pulled back a black cloth, revealing a glass tank filled with liquid, emitting a strong odor.

Fang Zhou felt a few more whiffs would be lethal.

Han Xi pointed at the tank, saying, “Should I try a different style for you?”

Wait, specins, liquid, glass tank...

Fang Zhou’s eyes widened, realization dawning.

Was the liquid formaldehyde?!

“What are you planning? Let’s talk, we can negotiate.”

At that mont, Fang Zhou realized Han Xi’s gaze held a hint of obsession and madness, like a fire ready to engulf the grasslands.

“Negotiate? That’s not possible.”

“You don’t listen to .”

Han Xi approached, gently stroking his face, a trace of infatuation in her eyes.

“If you’re disobedient, I’ll make you a specin, so you’ll never leave .”
