Fang Zhou, Co Back Soon

With Han Xi’s help, leaving the highlands beca surprisingly easy.

The first morning, after a quick hospital visit in town for his injury, Han Xi whisked Fang Zhou away from the remote town.

After a day and night of travel, they finally reached a place with a hint of city life.

They imdiately went to Kyoto’s best hospital, where professional doctors quickly set Fang Zhou’s leg in a cast and arranged a wheelchair.

“His injury is mainly to the bone, requiring over three months of rest.”

The doctor’s concerned and serious advice echoed in his ears, but Fang Zhou wasn’t focused on it.

He stood like a statue, staring at the vibrant city nightscape outside the window.

As night fell, a dazzling nightti scene unfolded before him.

Yet, he felt a dreamlike sensation, making him question reality.

He couldn’t tell if it was a dream or real.

Driven by curiosity, Fang Zhou slowly reached out, trying to grasp the bright lights from the skyscrapers.

He widened his eyes, focusing on the flickering lights, as if verifying his escape from the terrifying place.

After all, recent events left an indelible mark on his mind.

“Don’t fall out.”

Han Xi’s cool voice ca from behind, with a hint of concern.

Fang Zhou realized he was half out the window, indeed risky.

He recalled Han Xi’s disdainful look at his handcuffs, her disdain couldn’t be clearer.

She hadn’t spoken to him all day, even necessary communication was relayed through her subordinates.

Fang Zhou thought she was angry, ignoring him.

But she ca to see him at night.

His mind quickly connected the dots; she was busy.

Disdain was real, busyness too, so she had ti to talk only at night.

Rembering how he’d repeatedly rejected Han Xi and said harsh things, Fang Zhou felt a mix of emotions.

He forgot to respond, just staring at her.

Han Xi walked in leisurely, raising an eyebrow, saying, “What, did the journey rattle your brain?”

As blunt as ever, even a bit sharp-tongued.

Fang Zhou snapped out of it, shaking his head, “No, I was just thinking when I can see my sister.”

Being back in Kyoto, the familiar place made him excited.

It’s been over a week, and he knew nothing about his sister’s condition, only seeing her would ease his mind.

Han Xi’s eyes flashed, softly saying, “That’s easy, you can see her now.”

Fang Zhou was overjoyed, eyes wide, “Really? That’s great!”

“But it’s already 11 PM, your sister’s probably asleep. Are you sure you want to go?”

Han Xi raised her watch, showing it was nearly midnight.

Fang Zhou nodded, promising not to disturb his sister.

“I’ll just look from outside, talk to her tomorrow.”

Han Xi glanced at his cast, agreeing.

“Alright, I’ll take you.”

With crutches, Fang Zhou went to his sister’s hospital, thankfully not too far, seeing her through the window.

A monitor showed steady waves, indicating good health.

Fang Zhou’s heart eased, seeing his sister well.

It was a pity the doctor wasn’t on duty, or he could ask about her condition.

“Let’s go.”

Han Xi urged him to leave, the empty corridor making them stand out.

Fang Zhou thought of asking Qin Yun, following Han Xi out.

Their figures disappeared around the corner.

Li Siming, exiting the hot water room, caught a glimpse of clothing.

“Your friend still hasn’t been found? Could he be...”

His girlfriend, leaning on his shoulder, spoke with concern.

Li Siming covered her mouth, warning her with his eyes.

“No, he’s always been lucky, he’ll get through this.”

Li Siming sat with his girlfriend on the corridor bench, busy pouring water between thermoses to cool it.

“Always lucky? How do you know?”

His girlfriend asked, puzzled.

She knew Li Siming t Fang Zhou in middle school.

Li Siming whispered, “He told , as a kid, he fell into the village well twice, and was saved both tis.”

“And in high school, he fell off a cliff on a school trip, landing on a tree. Isn’t that a blessing in disguise?”

The cliff incident was first noticed by Zhang Zhiyin; without her, they might have been too late.

“Sounds like your friend is indeed lucky.”

His girlfriend nodded, glancing at the sleeping Fang Wenjing.

“But his sister’s luck seems a bit lacking.”

“Can she get through this?”

The girl, post-kidney transplant, had a rejection reaction. After two stable weeks, it suddenly worsened, her functions declining.

Doctors advised two days’ observation, possibly returning to ICU.

Li Siming, uneasy since returning from the island, stayed overnight.

He said, “Fang Zhou’s not here, so I’m her brother.”

Li Siming tightened the thermos lid, softly saying, “She’ll get better.”
