Wedding in a Dream (Part 2)
Fang Zhou initially thought he would smoothly complete his wedding with Chu Xinran according to Chu Xuan’s plan.
But when an unexpected guest appeared before him, his heart sank with a strong premonition: today’s wedding might not happen.
Standing beside him was none other than Han Xi’s assistant.
“Mr. Fang, I have sothing to tell you today.”
At that mont, Fang Zhou was rehearsing the heartfelt speech he had written for his bride.
Even though he was forced into this marriage with Chu Xinran, it was still a solemn occasion.
Fang Zhou felt it necessary to take it seriously.
Seeing Han Xi’s assistant suddenly appear surprised him.
“Say what you need to quickly. I have to go through the ceremony soon.”
Fang Zhou wasn’t keen on listening to the assistant.
Several ex-girlfriends had already tried to disrupt his wedding with Chu Xinran.
But Fang Zhou had managed to handle each one.
Although Han Xi hadn’t shown up today, her assistant likely wasn’t here to offer blessings either.
Adhering to the principle of being kind and avoiding bad luck on such a good day, Fang Zhou decided to hear him out.
The assistant, a straightforward person, pulled out a tablet and showed Fang Zhou a video.
“This is a video of the patient who matched your sister’s kidney donor, dying from a sudden heart attack despite resuscitation efforts.”
Fang Zhou’s brows furrowed as he watched, then he stood up in shock, looking at the assistant.
“Are you sure? Does this an my sister can have the surgery now?”
“But why haven’t I received any notification?”
That was the real issue.
Shouldn’t the family waiting for the kidney transplant be notified imdiately upon the patient’s death?
Why did the video show the ti as 8 AM, and now it was already 11 AM, yet he hadn’t received any information?
Kidney transplants must be perford within 24 hours to be effective.
Han Xi’s assistant looked serious, then exited the video and opened WeChat.
“This is the ssage I need to tell you. The kidney has been hijacked and is currently being used in surgery.”
“Thud.”
It was the sound of Fang Zhou’s phone hitting the floor.
He stared at the assistant in disbelief.
“What did you say?”
In that instant, Fang Zhou felt his entire body go cold, as if subrged in ice water.
His mind buzzed with a cacophony of noises, drowning his thoughts.
How could this be? Wasn’t the kidney already reserved? How could it be intercepted?
Wasn’t Chu Xuan supposed to have soone watching over it?
Why hadn’t she inford him?
Han Xi’s assistant took a step back, his expression grave.
“Mr. Fang, I have no reason to lie to you. If you don’t believe , you can call the family.”
Fang Zhou nodded, hurriedly picking up his phone and dialing the contact from his address book.
The phone rang for a long ti without an answer.
Undeterred, Fang Zhou called again, and again, until the fourth attempt finally connected.
Before he could speak, a hoarse male voice on the other end impatiently said,
“What do you want? Can it wait a few days? My father just passed away.”
With that, the call ended abruptly, leaving Fang Zhou speechless.
But those few words were enough to shock Fang Zhou to his core.
He stared blankly at his phone, repeatedly confirming he hadn’t dialed the wrong number, then looked up sharply at the assistant.
“Who took the kidney? Which hospital is performing the surgery?”
Fang Zhou felt a murderous rage. That kidney was ant for his sister. How could soone steal it?
His sister’s life depended on it!
Han Xi’s assistant shook his head regretfully.
“The person who took it has connections. They’re not soone we can afford to provoke.”
“And I must tell you, that kidney was initially discovered by your attending physician but was intercepted by the Chu family, who took credit for it in front of you.”
At that mont, Fang Zhou felt an overwhelming sense of absurdity.
It was as if the sky was falling.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
It was soone sent by Chu Xuan to check why Fang Zhou hadn’t co out yet.
“Mr. Fang, the MC is asking if you’re ready. We’re about to start the wedding rehearsal.”
Fang Zhou let out a cold laugh, his voice icy.
“I’m not getting married. Call Chu Xuan here. I have sothing to say to her.”
By the ti Chu Xuan arrived, Han Xi’s assistant had already left the room, leaving Fang Zhou with a parting ssage.
“Mr. Fang, if you need to leave, we’ll have a black car waiting at the main gate to take you out.”
“Fang Zhou, what the hell are you doing? A wedding is no joke. There are so many friends, family, and reporters outside!”
Chu Xuan stord in, berating Fang Zhou, thinking he had lost his mind.
Fang Zhou’s expression was calm as he spoke in a deep voice.
“Tell , was my sister’s kidney hijacked?”
Chu Xuan froze, then heard Fang Zhou ask again.
“That kidney wasn’t initially found by you, was it?”
“You intercepted it and now lost it to soone else, planning to keep it from until after the wedding?”
“You... What nonsense are you spouting! The kidney is safe in the hospital! You can check after the wedding.”
Chu Xuan tried to argue, but Fang Zhou wasn’t listening to her lies anymore.
“I’m not getting married.
Explain to Xinran yourself. As for cleaning up this ss, that’s your problem.
You lured here with lies. Don’t expect to take responsibility.”
With that, Fang Zhou turned and strode toward the door.
Chu Xuan scread, ordering the surrounding bodyguards, “Stop him! Don’t let him leave! This wedding will happen, whether he likes it or not!”
After a scuffle, Fang Zhou, with the help of so n in black, got into a black car and left the wedding venue.
anwhile, Chu Xinran, who realized what was happening too late, leaped from the church rooftop in her white wedding dress.
