She’s from ’98, You Can’t Outplay Her
Fang Zhou’s ntal state was far from good as he walked out of the police station.
He had initially thought that the police would do their best to help him solve the case, retrieve the surveillance footage, and find Han Xi’s whereabouts.
But due to the language barrier and the discrimination against foreigners, the police were utterly unhelpful.
They refused to file a report, citing the 24-hour rule, and only pulled up the surveillance footage as a formality. Unfortunately, the spot where Han Xi disappeared was a blind spot, and there was no trace of her on the nearby streets either.
Fang Zhou was so furious that he felt like he was about to explode. Frustrated, he left the police station.
Since the police were unreliable, he had to co up with another plan. At the very least, he needed to return to the hotel and find Han Xi’s subordinates.
As he hurried down the street, soone suddenly bumped into him at a corner. The person didn’t even apologize and quickly walked away.
This sneaky behavior was typical of a pickpocket.
Fang Zhou quickly checked his pockets and found that his wallet was still there, but he now had an extra phone!
When he pulled it out, he realized that his phone, which had been missing for several hours, was back!
“Stop!”
Fang Zhou imdiately turned around to chase the person who had bumped into him, but by the ti he looked, the figure was already at the end of the street. After a few minutes of chasing, the person had completely disappeared.
He had no choice but to stop and examine his phone.
The password and facial recognition had been disabled, and he could unlock his phone with just a swipe. However, the wallpaper had been changed to a black map with two lines of large red Chinese characters.
“If you want to save her, bring $5 million to the XX factory at 4 PM.”
Fang Zhou’s pupils contracted as he thought, “So Han Xi has indeed been kidnapped!”
He checked his phone and found that nothing else had been tampered with, which struck him as odd.
But then he realized that compared to the $5 million ransom, the money on his phone was insignificant.
He rushed back to the hotel and, sure enough, found Han Xi’s assistant there. He recounted everything that had happened in detail and ca to a conclusion.
“It’s already 1 PM. You go prepare the money, and we’ll go rescue her together this afternoon.”
The assistant, who had been prepared for this mont, put on his best acting performance and nodded heavily.
“The money isn’t a problem! But didn’t the kidnappers say you had to go alone? If I go with you, won’t they kill her?”
Co on, Mr. Fang, President Han only wants to see how you handle this, not , a small fry!
Fang Zhou’s eyes widened as he pulled the assistant into a corner of the room and whispered, “We can’t go together. The people we’re dealing with are ruthless. Even if we had ten lives, we’d lose them all.”
The assistant nodded vigorously, agreeing with him.
“You’re right. Should we call the police?”
Having already experienced the “efficiency” of the local police, Fang Zhou didn’t think that was a good idea.
“It’s useless. They wouldn’t even file a report. By the ti they arrive, it’ll be too late.”
“Then what should we do?”
The assistant swore that this was the biggest challenge of his career.
Not only did he have to cooperate with his boss’s act, but he also had to play along with Fang Zhou in the rescue mission, all while pretending to be clueless. It was incredibly difficult.
Fang Zhou paused for a mont and then spoke in a serious tone.
“We’ll have to hire rcenaries. Since you were able to contact the scar-faced man, this shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
The assistant was about to respond when Fang Zhou continued, “So you’re on a tight schedule. You need to prepare the money, hire the rcenaries, and have them set up an ambush this afternoon.”
“I’ll wear a small surveillance device, and you’ll need to coordinate from behind, ready to provide support at any mont.”
Finally, Fang Zhou earnestly told the assistant, “President Han’s safety is in your hands!”
The assistant was stunned by his words but agreed nonetheless.
“Alright! I’ll go prepare everything we need! This afternoon, it’s all on you!”
After discussing the plan for about ten minutes, they shook hands and encouraged each other before going off to prepare what they needed.
After the assistant left, Fang Zhou didn’t sit idle. He went to a store and bought pepper spray, a small knife, and other items, which he then strapped around his calves.
He didn’t know if these things would be useful, but he needed to prepare sothing to give himself the confidence to save her.
Han Xi had co to Southeast Asia because of him. If anything happened to her, he would never forgive himself.
And most importantly, Fang Zhou could feel his heart pounding with anxiety, constantly worrying about Han Xi.
That suffocating feeling clung to him like a dark cloud, and he couldn’t imagine what he would do if Han Xi were killed.
Ti ticked by, and at 4 PM, near an abandoned factory in the suburbs, the sound of cicadas filled the air. The heat waves rolled in, and the sun scorched the earth as if trying to burn it to a crisp.
The creatures living in this area had nowhere to escape, except for the sparse trees around where they could find so refuge.
Scattered wood lay haphazardly on the ground, and the broken windows had no glass left, only a few tattered pieces of cloth fluttering in the wind, telling the story of the factory’s forr glory.
A pickup truck arrived as scheduled on the road in front of the factory, carrying Fang Zhou and Han Xi’s assistant.
“Stop here. Stay hidden and don’t let them see you.”
Fang Zhou waved his hand, signaling the assistant to stop the car, and then began unbuckling his seatbelt.
“Brother Zhou, are you sure you can handle this alone?”
The assistant’s face was full of concern, as if he were genuinely worried about Fang Zhou going in alone to rescue Han Xi.
Fang Zhou had already opened the passenger door and was about to get out. He patted his bulletproof vest and said, “Don’t worry! Besides, it wouldn’t help if you ca along. They said only one person.”
“And we have rcenaries backing us up. What’s there to be afraid of?”
With that, he slamd the car door shut and resolutely walked toward the dilapidated factory.
The assistant watched his determined figure and let out a long sigh, muttering to himself, “I hope President Han gets what she wants this ti.”
At this mont, he truly admired Fang Zhou for being a real man.
At least he had the guts to face those “ruthless” kidnappers alone.
Speaking of which, President Han was really ruthless too.
A thought suddenly popped into his head: “She’s from ’98, you can’t outplay her.”
Isn’t that the case with President Han? Playing n like they’re toys.
He hoped Fang Zhou would never find out the truth.
