Chapter 1089: Return? Him? Why?

“I’m a dead man born of Adrian’s lies, and I’m trying to make sense of the chaos he’s created.”

Idan’s last words echoed in Eleanor’s mind.

At first, she was pletely perplexed, not understanding what it all meant.

“The dead man born of Adrian’s lies?” she repeated, and two people who could fit that description immediately popped into her mind: Damian and her dead second grandson.

There might have been others, but Eleanor only knew these two.

Suddenly, she remembered how the guy laughed when she corrected his story, saying that he was mistaken and that her second grandson was indeed stillborn. She hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but now that she thought back, she realized that the guy’s laugh was ironic.

“Is he…” a terrible thought flashed through her mind, and she looked again at the place where he had been standing, but he was no longer there.

For the first time in a long time, she felt a strong disappointment and at the same time a desire to find out the truth.

The thought that her grandson, whom she had always believed dead, might be alive, haunted Eleanor. She could no longer sit in her own little world that she had created around herself.

Eleanor decided to act and find out the truth herself.

And the only one who could tell her the truth is her own son.

After leaving the Blake family’s territory, before returning to the Kingdom, Idan said to Ned, “Leave one of your spears to keep an eye on her.”

“Okay,” Ned nodded, and his second copy in black appeared next to him, which disappeared without another word.

“If I’m right, she’ll figure out who I am quickly,” Idan whispered.

Part of his last words were said to test her reaction. Idan wanted to know if she would continue to sit in her cozy corner and read a book, or if she would do something more drastic.

“Well, Eleanor, let’s see what you do,” with these words, Idan, having opened the access portal, returned back to the Kingdom with Ned.

The first thing Idan did when he returned was to find Arabel’s avatar and share everything he knew with her. Although she was part of that family, as his wife, she wasn’t that deeply involved in the family drama. Therefore, she could assess the situation from the outside and give him a different perspective on what was happening.

Sitting on the terrace, Arabel listened attentively to her husband without interrupting. When he finished, she asked a question.:

“What’s your next step? Are you going to tell your mothers, or are you going to the Dungeon Gate?”

Idan wondered, “Should I tell them the truth now?”

“I think they should know and be prepared to meet with him,” Arabel shared her opinion.

“Hmm… good,” — Idan nodded. “As for the Dungeon Gate, I’ll wait a bit before heading there.”

Seeing the interest on his wife’s face, Idan added:

“I want to see what Eleanor does first.”

“I understand that the only way for her to find out the truth is to ask her son, and he’s at the Dungeon Gate right now.”

“For an ordinary mortal like Eleanor, it’s impossible and even dangerous to go there in a short time,” Idan said.

Arabel quickly caught on to her husband’s plan.

“Do you want to know if she will give up or try to find a way out of the situation?”

Idan nodded in the affirmative.

He got up and, taking Arabel by the hand, went into the house in search of his mothers. Idan found them in the kitchen, where they were sitting over a glass of wine, discussing the past.

“Idan,” Inessa said with a smile, noticing her son.

Idan nodded to both of them and joined them at the table.

Ivette and Inessa immediately noticed his mood and quickly realized that he had something to say.

“I just got back from a meeting with Eleanor,” Idan said calmly.

“Already?” Ivette and Inessa exclaimed, surprised by his speed.

But then their surprise turned to excitement, anxiety, and expectation.

They both looked at Idan, waiting for his next words.

“Before I share with you everything I’ve learned, I want you to listen carefully and not interrupt me.” Idan stared into the eyes of both mothers. “Am I making myself clear?”

Ivette and Inessa shuddered slightly, sensing Idan’s seriousness, and nodded at each other.

Having received the consent of both mothers, Idan, taking a deep breath, began to tell the story.

“What?” exclaimed Inessa, jumping up from her seat and almost falling. Ivette supported her older sister in time.

Meeting her son’s frown, Inessa bit her lower lip, remembering that she had agreed not to interrupt him, and nodded.

But by this time, tears were already streaming down her cheeks.

Idan didn’t try to pressure them. His voice was flat, without a trace of accusation or emotion. Ivette and Inessa couldn’t help but notice this and realized that, despite his outward calmness, he was also deeply affected by everything that was happening.

No, he was one of the victims of Adrian’s lies. Someone whose life was pletely changed by his choice.

Inessa could not even imagine the burden her husband had taken on himself and what he had been hiding from her all this time.

Even Ivette couldn’t hold back her tears after learning about Adrian’s ordeal.

When the two sisters finally realized that Damian was Adrian, Inessa almost fell off her chair, covered her face with her hands and sobbed even harder. Ivette, frowning, began to reassure her older sister.

For the older sister, this man was a much-loved husband.

And for the younger one, to those who broke her heart, took her older sister away from her, and left their son in her care.

“I will be heading to the Dungeon Gate in the Eastern Continent soon to meet with Big Brother Ryan and this man,” Idan announced.

Inessa was still crying, and Ivette was gently supporting her. She turned to Idan and asked:

“What are you going to do with him?”

“I want to see him. To stand in front of him face to face, look into his eyes and hit him hard,” admitted Idan.

“No!” exclaimed Inessa. “You can’t do this to him, Idan. He’s… your father.”

“You just told me what he went through…”

“Please, there’s no need to plicate things anymore…”

“Please don’t… Just… just give him back.… Bring him home.”

“Humph!” snorted Idan. “Return? Him? Why?”

“I’m not going to let this man into my life and into the family that Belle and I are going to create. I just want to find the truth and resolve all questions about my origins, so that I can focus on the future and move forward without looking at the past.”

Inessa and Ivette were stunned.

Arabel’s avatar, who had remained silent all this time and did not interfere in the conversation, smiled and looked lovingly at Idan.
