Chapter 1083: The Flaming Crane Clan.
On the outskirts of the city, a large Flaming Crane gracefully landed in a small square. After him, several smaller cranes landed on the ground.
Idan easily jumped off Elira’s back, and she immediately assumed her humanoid form.
“I didn’t expect your clan to live next to one of these towers,” Idan said, without taking his eyes off the tall white tower in front of him, which was still being pleted on the upper floors.
In the morning, when he was exploring the city from a height while flying, he noticed these towers, which did not fit into the style of earthly cities.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed another tower in the distance, different in style, but also quite tall.
After a rough calculation, Idan realized that both towers were about the same height.
“Our tower is higher,” came the voice of one of the flaming cranes from behind.
“Well, that is, when it’s finished,” another corrected.
Idan looked at the Flaming Cranes Tower and the second tower again. It became clear to him that the latter belonged to another clan.
With a laugh, he said:
“Well, yes, of course. What else can two proud clans do but pete to see which tower is longer?”
“Longer?” — Elira bowed her head, as did the rest of the cranes. “Not higher?”
At this time, the locals, who had gathered at the edge of the square to admire them, started laughing when they heard Idan.
After listening to the conversation of the locals and understanding the hidden meaning of Idan’s words, Elira, like all the women in the Flaming Crane clan, blushed. At the same time, the men began to look at the tower in a new way.
“This way, Master.” Elira, still feeling embarrassed, stepped forward and hurried in the direction of the tower.
“By the way, I wanted to ask, is it okay that you call me master in front of your clan members?” asked Idan, following her.
“I chose you as my master. You are not only stronger than me, but also the one who defeated me. Thanks to you, I have a chance to achieve the desired Diamond rank,” Elira replied and added:
“And even being among my clan members won’t make me address you as anything other than Master.”
“Hmm…I see,” — Idan nodded, following Elira and looking around.
They were on the outskirts of the city, where there were no usual high-rises and stone buildings. Instead, it was dominated by private houses. Despite this, quite a lot of local residents came out to witness their appearance.
Taking a closer look at them, Idan noticed cultivators among them… More precisely, Contactors of the element of fire.
“So your clan also uses so — called help and creates Contactors?” Idan asked Elira.
“Yes,” she didn’t hide anything from Idan and honestly admitted that her clan was also involved in this.
“Are you at least giving them a choice?” Idan continued to ask.
“That by being a Contactor, they bee dependent on you and your whim?”
“That they also lose the opportunity for natural cultivation by destroying their own potential?”
This time, Elira chose to remain silent.
But her silence was the answer for Idan.
Of course, they did not give the locals the right to choose. They only needed obedient servants. Like all creatures from the world of Fire, the Flaming Cranes were no different from others and looked down on the locals.
Idan didn’t judge them.
After all, there are different worlds, different worldviews and values.
As soon as Idan crossed the threshold of the tower, he was greeted by warm and stuffy air saturated with the fiery element.
Elira and the rest of the Flaming Cranes breathed a sigh of relief, finding themselves in a familiar and fortable atmosphere for them.
Of course, they could safely stay outside, but it’s always nice to return to their native conditions.
Possessing an affinity for the element of fire, Idan quickly got used to the new conditions.
“This way, Master, “— Elira called, pointing to the stairs leading up.
“Lead the way,” — Idan nodded, following her.
As Idan climbed the stairs, he looked curiously at the tower, and Elira, noticing this, decided to share some interesting details.
“In our world, such towers usually don’t have stairs, because we don’t need them,” she said.
Idan immediately remembered the large holes on each floor of the tower.
“So did your clan create stairs for the locals?” he asked.
Elira nodded in the affirmative.
“Our clan not only creates Contractors, but also trains them in the art of refining materials, which our clan is famous for.”
“Disciples should visit their mentors regularly, but they don’t have wings like ours.”
As they talked, they went up to the second floor, where a group of Flaming Cranes in human form were already waiting for them.
There were two people at the head of the group: a man and a woman. The first thing that caught Idan’s attention was their age. They looked much older than the others. Their once red hair was already streaked with gray, and their eyes showed the fatigue accumulated over the years.
When the two of them saw Elira, their eyes lit up and a faint smile appeared on their faces.
The young cranes that stood behind them looked at Elira with a mixture of jealousy and admiration.
“Master, let me introduce you to the two elders of our clan,” Elira said, stepping forward. “This is Elder Silas, and this is Elder Elena.”
Hearing Elira’s address to Idan, the two elders changed their faces and fixed unfriendly glances at him. However, Idan greeted them with a smile, without showing the slightest concern.
“Elders, this is Master Ignis, the one who helped me,” Elira introduced Idan, still following his instructions to address him as Ignis.
Idan was impressed that Elira didn’t reveal his disguise in front of the elders of her clan. It only reinforced his opinion of her.
“So you’re the Ignis she was talking about, and the one who changed our Elira?” Silas began, and Idan could hear the hidden hostility in his voice. “What kind of magic did you use to sway her loyalty to you instead of the clan?”
“Well, if beauty is magic, then yes, I used my magic to charm a beauty like Elira,” Idan replied shamelessly. “And it looks like my magic is stronger than my loyalty to the clan.”
Elira blushed deeply, embarrassed by Idan’s words. She knew that he had a jealous wife and that he was devoted only to her.
However, for others, Idan’s words took on even greater significance, as those who watched them misinterpreted her embarrassment.
