Mu Qingqing bit her teeth and thought to herself, how co your vixen eyes are so sharp, you can see from so far away.

She took a deep breath, squeezed out a fake smile, and looked back.

"I was wondering why there’s a sultry air around, turns out it’s Gorgeous Guan."

Chen Fan followed suit and turned around, only to see a beautiful woman behind him. She was wearing a sexy, figure-hugging, backless dress, her hair up in an elegant twist, her figure seductive and her face charming. Beside the woman stood a tall man wearing glasses, quite scholarly as well.

He explained, "You’ve misunderstood, I’m not Qingqing’s boyfriend."

The woman paused for a mont, turned to look at Mu Qingqing with disdain, and said, "No way, Mu Qingqing, there is only one day left until our bet ends. A whole month has passed. Weren’t you boasting that n were lining up for you all the way to the moon? And yet, you couldn’t even find a boyfriend in a month. According to our bet, you have to kneel down and bark like a dog in public!"

Mu Qingqing quickly wrapped her arm around Chen Fan’s and said, "He is my boyfriend; he got scared by your appearance. That’s why he said he wasn’t, because he was afraid you’d laugh at ."

Chen Fan gave Mu Qingqing an inquiring look.

Mu Qingqing quickly and quietly explained to Chen Fan, "This vixen’s na is Guan Xiaolin; she’s my arch-enemy. We got drunk a month ago and made a bet to see who could find a quality boyfriend within a month. Whoever loses has to kneel down in public and bark like a dog. You have to help out here!"

Chen Fan understood, then nodded at Mu Qingqing, signaling her to rest assured.

Guan Xiaolin glanced at Chen Fan a couple of tis, snickered, and said, "Even if he is your boyfriend, it still proves your taste is lacking. Mu Qingqing, you’ve lost!"

Mu Qingqing retorted, "Bullshit! My boyfriend is amazing!"

Guan Xiaolin was clearly skeptical, and after circling the man beside her, she said with a laugh, "Really? Let introduce you to my boyfriend first. Cheng Rui, a descendant of a cultural family, national Go tournant champion, gentle and refined, as suave as a jade tree in the breeze. Compared to Cheng Rui, your boyfriend is nothing but a garbage picker."

Cheng Rui adjusted his glasses with a hand, a smug look in his eyes.

Mu Qingqing, furious, said, "Guan Xiaolin, just for judging people by their appearances, I can tell what level you’re on. You have no idea how aweso my boyfriend is, otherwise how could I possibly be with him?"

That wasn’t a lie; Chen Fan’s strength had amazed everyone in the Jiang Family and the Mu Family, to the extent that even the Jiang Family’s old ancestor had to call Chen Fan ’master.’ Just that point alone was beyond comparison with ordinary people.

Guan Xiaolin sneered, "Oh? This guy looks like a loser, and you insist he’s amazing? Could it be that he’s great in that one aspect? The kind that keeps you from leaving the bed? I didn’t expect you, Mu Qingqing, to be that kind of person."

Mu Qingqing’s face turned scarlet with anger, and she gritted her teeth, "Bitch, stop talking nonsense here!"

Guan Xiaolin looked at Mu Qingqing’s frustrated state with satisfaction, then said, "Fine, I won’t joke with you. Since you claim your boyfriend is great, let’s prove it with action."

"We were planning to participate in the Go King Contest at Antique Street. The champion’s prize is said to be a Spirit Jade that has been passed down for a hundred years, possessing spirituality. Why not use that piece of Precious Jade to determine the winner and loser? Whichever boyfriend wins the Precious Jade counts as the victor, and the loser will have to kneel and bark like a dog in public, how about that?"

Mu Qingqing imdiately refused, "No way, you’ve got a boyfriend who’s good at playing Go, and you want to decide the winner by a Go contest; that’s outright bullying."

Guan Xiaolin curled her lip and said, "Okay then, you na the competition. Anyway, my boyfriend is versatile, unlike your loser, who doesn’t even know how to play Go."

Mu Qingqing’s face was extrely unsightly, wishing she could rush forward and bite Guan Xiaolin twice.

At that mont, Chen Fan was thinking about what Guan Xiaolin had just said. If the prize of the Go contest really was a century-old Spirit Jade, then it could be an excellent material for making a Magic Artifact.

Suddenly sowhat excited, he said to Guan Xiaolin and Cheng Rui, "Fine, let’s decide the winner with that piece of jade. Whoever gets it is the winner."

Guan Xiaolin was taken aback but then chuckled mockingly, "You said it yourself, no going back on your word!"

Chen Fan nodded.

Next to him, Mu Qingqing’s face went through a drastic change, and she quickly tugged at Chen Fan, making faces as she said, "How could you agree to her? Her boyfriend is a national champion; can you really win against him? You’re like a lamb walking into the slaughterhouse!"

"Most importantly, if we lose, I’ll be the one kneeling and barking like a dog!"

Chen Fan smiled and said, "Don’t worry, I won’t let you lose."

Guan Xiaolin looked at Mu Qingqing and said, "Your boyfriend has already agreed, so you can’t back out now. Let’s go to the Street Player King contest now. Of course, if you’re too scared, you might as well kneel down and bark like a dog now—after all, there are fewer people around here. Later, at the competition, you’d have to do it in front of a whole lot more spectators."

Mu Qingqing snorted coldly, "Like I’d be afraid of you!"

At this point, she had no way out and had to put all her hopes on Chen Fan.

"I just hope my cousin-in-law isn’t here to throw under the bus," Mu Qingqing prayed silently in her heart.

Guan Xiaolin and Cheng Rui exchanged glances, both their faces revealing a playful smirk.

Cheng Rui looked at Chen Fan, his disdain not hidden in the slightest.

As the national Go champion, he certainly didn’t think soone like Chen Fan, who might not even understand the rules of Go, could cause any kind of stir.

The four of them walked together toward the deeper part of Antique Street, and soon arrived at a retro-style three-story building. A sign was placed in front of the door with the words "Folk Chess King Contest" written on it.

At that mont, the lobby on the first floor was already packed with people—so who ca to participate in the contest and others who were there to watch the excitent.

The four entered and signed up at the registration desk.

Soon, the registration period ended, and the organizer announced that a total of 63 people had signed up for the competition.

The competition was to be a knockout format with six rounds, determining the champion, each round lasting one hour.

To facilitate the progress of the competition, the organizer specifically sought out one more participant who wanted to join, making up 64 people in total. This ant that no one needed to have a bye.

Before long, the organizer had set up the venue and clarified the rules, then let the contestants begin drawing lots. Once the draw was complete, the competition officially kicked off.

Cheng Rui was hoping he would draw Chen Fan as his opponent in the first round, wanting to eliminate him right from the start, but fate was not on his side—both ended up drawing different opponents.

Cheng Rui stretched lazily, his face indifferent as if the competition was nothing more than a playful affair for him.

He turned his head to look at Chen Fan and said with a smile, "I hope you don’t get eliminated in the first round. That would be too uninteresting."

Chen Fan suddenly asked, "You’ve won the national championship, but how do you compare to a professional player?"

Cheng Rui looked dismissive and said, "A national champion’s skills are indeed strong, but professional players are top masters of Go. Compared to a professional player, I still have a long way to go. You don’t even know this and you dare to compete in Go? Ridiculous."

Chen Fan smiled faintly, not minding Cheng Rui’s words, but simply stated, "Then I’m relieved."
