Liu Zhongping’s heart ached. It was true. He had always claid his actions were for the Liu Family, but looking back, most of it had been for his own ambition. "I’m sorry, Ru Yan!" he apologized, his voice thick with guilt.
"There’s no need for that," Liu Ruyan said flatly. "Just go. From this day forward, our relationship as father and daughter is severed. The next ti we et, I will not plead for you again."
"Daughter!" Liu Zhongping cried, tears streaming down his face. He realized his mistakes, but it was too late. His obedient daughter was gone forever. Once a heart dies, it can never be revived. And Liu Ruyan’s heart was well and truly dead.
Liu Ruyan turned and walked back to the Gongsun Family’s side.
Ye Fan’s cold voice cut through the air as Liu Zhongping staggered to his feet. "Liu Zhongping," he said, "it would be wise for the Liu Family not to make an enemy of . If I find you involved in this war in any way, I will exterminate your entire family."
"Yes, yes, of course!" Liu Zhongping stamred, nodding repeatedly. He then turned and walked away, a desolate and broken figure like a decrepit old man.
Once he was gone, Liu Ruyan leaned into Ye Fan’s embrace, savoring the feeling of victory. It had to be said, this had been a difficult battle. If not for Ye Fan’s sudden arrival and his overwhelming power that crushed the enemy, the outco would have been perilous.
