Chapter 359: Chapter 358: Spiritual Beast Duel

Ye Fan and the Grassland Bear had a clear division of labor. Ye Fan targeted the two Grassland Hyenas, while the Grassland Bear confronted the much larger Grassland Hyena King.

This was a brutal war. Battling a pack of beasts for the first ti, Ye Fan realized the combat experience and strength of these beast kings were not to be underestimated. After all, in terms of sheer power, beasts with such budding spiritual intelligence were far stronger than ordinary Martial Artists, and he was facing an entire pack.

Perhaps triggered by the scent of blood, the Hyena King imdiately engaged the Grassland Bear in combat.

The two remaining Grassland Hyenas tried to tear Ye Fan apart. He swiftly brandished his Yuanhong Sword. As his Sword Qi descended, their sharp claws were severed and fell to the ground. Undeterred, the two Grassland Hyenas lunged, attempting to bite him to death.

"Pure Yang Power!"

A blast of thick, fiery True Qi swept out, instantly obliterating the two Grassland Hyenas.

Ye Fan breathed a sigh of relief. The ease with which he had killed these Grassland Hyenas did not an they were weak. On the contrary, they were incredibly strong, even surpassing ordinary King-level experts. Their downfall was their carelessness; they were too eager for a quick victory, which gave Ye Fan the opening to kill them.

Having dealt with the two Grassland Hyenas, Ye Fan turned to help the Grassland Bear with the Hyena King.

The Hyena King grew agitated, likely from seeing its underlings killed, leaving it feeling isolated and helpless. The Grassland Bear, however, was even more furious. It was facing its mortal enemy, the very beast that had probably killed its family.

Ye Fan wanted to help, but the Grassland Bear shot him an angry glare.

Although he couldn’t understand the inner thoughts of these beasts with their budding intelligence, Ye Fan knew this was the Grassland Bear’s battle to fight. It was a fight for revenge.

Ye Fan stepped aside, leaving the battlefield to the Grassland Bear.

"ROAR!"

The Hyena King roared and charged at the Grassland Bear at top speed.

Though the Grassland Bear’s claws were not as sharp as the Hyena King’s, its bite force was undeniably imnse. The Hyena King’s sharp claws tore violently into the Grassland Bear’s flesh. The bear let out a pained whine, terrifying Ye Fan.

He wanted to intervene, but just then, the Grassland Bear fiercely retaliated. It clamped its jaws onto the Hyena King’s thigh, but the hyena was too fast and managed to break free by a hair. The battle between the two Spiritual Beasts remained as ferocious as ever.

The intensity of their struggle was no less than a battle between humans.

The Grassland Bear continued its advance, ramming into a glacier. It shattered a chunk of ice and sent it flying toward the Hyena King, but at that mont, the Hyena King dodged.

Despite its imnse strength, the Grassland Bear was not as fast as the Hyena King, which was what worried Ye Fan the most.

However, this spiritually advanced Grassland Bear was much faster than Ye Fan had imagined. In the blink of an eye, it burst through the falling chunks of ice and clamped its jaws onto the Hyena King’s neck.

The Hyena King tried to break free, but it had grossly underestimated the Grassland Bear’s bite force. As the two great Spiritual Beasts struggled, the ice beneath them cracked and shattered.

"Be careful!" Ye Fan shouted. But it was too late. The ice gave way beneath the Grassland Bear, trapping it. The Hyena King, light and agile, had deftly avoided the trap.

The Hyena King strode powerfully toward the Grassland Bear. It seed the bear had now beco its prey.

Ye Fan didn’t know what to do. He prepared to rush in and save the Grassland Bear, ready to face its bla later. He would not hesitate. The Grassland Bear was still struggling defiantly, but all it t was the mocking gaze of the Hyena King.

Just as Ye Fan was about to intervene, the Grassland Bear suddenly spat out a large mass of ice, instantly flash-freezing the Grassland Hyena King solid.

Ye Fan was shocked. He finally understood the difference between Spiritual Beasts and ordinary beasts. Spiritual Beasts weren’t just about brute strength; they could also wield elental powers, just like this Grassland Bear.

The Grassland Bear forcefully broke free from the ice. The Hyena King was forever frozen in its final mont. The Grassland Bear charged forward, crashing into the icy statue. Instantly, the Grassland Hyena King’s frozen body shattered into countless pieces.

Even with its enemy vanquished, Ye Fan could sense the Grassland Bear’s sorrowful cries. It seed the loss of its family had dealt it a great blow. It licked its wounds, having suffered severe injuries in the fight.

Ye Fan approached and said, "You’ve finally grown up. Seeing you crush your enemy with your own paws, your parents and kin must be very happy in Heaven."

Just then, the Grassland Bear stood up and swiftly ran off. It didn’t say goodbye to Ye Fan; it simply left.

Ye Fan was surprised, but he didn’t bla the bear. Still, his heart felt a little empty. He truly considered the Grassland Bear a friend, yet this friend had left without so much as a goodbye.

Perhaps this spiritually awakened Grassland Bear carries too much sorrow. I’ll have to walk the road ahead alone. But even though the Spiritual Beast is gone, I feel our friendship hasn’t ended.

After wandering the Ice Glacier Grassland for a few more days, Ye Fan sensed the presence of many Martial Artists. Evidently, they were all here for the Millennium Ice Crystals. Along the way, he saw many corpses of Martial Artists. The slaughter had begun. To eliminate an enemy was to reduce the competition—this was the law of survival among Martial Artists.

「A day later」

Ye Fan arrived at the central area of the Ice Glacier Grassland, where the fighting was even more brutal.

He had just stepped forward when he found the entrance ahead blocked. From their attire, Ye Fan recognized them as Martial Artists from the Dongzheng Court.

The Dongzheng Court from the Northern Bear Country... I didn’t expect them to join the fray. This matter is becoming more complicated.

The leader spoke up, "The area ahead is the territory of the Dongzheng Emperor, you brat from the Divine Land. If you dare to enter, don’t bla us for what happens next."

They invoked the na of the Dongzheng Emperor, but Ye Fan retorted, "This is no-man’s-land. It certainly doesn’t belong to the Northern Bear Country, let alone the Dongzheng Emperor."

"Hmph! The Dongzheng Emperor is in seclusion here. Take one more step, and I’ll cut off your head!" the man threatened.

Ye Fan imdiately stepped forward.

The leader barked, "Another one with a death wish! Go, kill him!"

"Yes, sir!" Several n rushed forward and surrounded Ye Fan.

Ye Fan snorted coldly. He drew the Yuanhong Sword and, with a single slash, disintegrated the n surrounding him.

He sheathed Yuanhong. He wouldn’t fear facing the Dongzheng Emperor himself, let alone these n who were rely the Emperor’s dogs.
