Chapter 347: Chapter 346: Midway Turbulence
Afterward, a group of people from the Zhenwu Sect ca forward with concern. "Senior Sister, are you all right?"
"I’m fine," Bai Zhii said. "That man is truly a special individual!"
"Senior Sister, we shouldn’t have let him go!" soone suggested.
But Bai Zhii countered, "He wasn’t the one who killed them. Besides, you all witnessed his strength. If he had truly wanted to attack, would any of us still be alive? This incident is a warning to us: do not act alone. What happened to them is the consequence of that, and it’s a price you can’t afford to pay!"
Chastened by her words, no one argued, for it was the truth.
At that mont, Bai Zhii commanded, "Clean this up quickly, take the bodies of our fellow disciples, and let’s leave as soon as possible. The Bengyu is about to appear. In such a harsh desert, we have no choice but to persist and complete the mission!"
"Yes!"
They imdiately gathered the deceased disciples’ belongings and departed.
「The next day.」
Ye Fan continued walking through the desert storm. The border desert of the Divine Land was truly restless. What was supposed to be a calm dayti grew increasingly turbulent toward the heart of the desert. Ye Fan knew he was nearing the central area and could perhaps reach it by nightfall. For now, he sat down to rest.
Suddenly, a large group of people rode through the desert, their horses galloping madly and stirring up waves of sand behind them. Ye Fan couldn’t tell if they were friends or foes, but by the looks of it, there were more than thirty of them.
Just then, two arrows shot toward him, aiming to kill.
Ye Fan dodged quickly, avoiding the fatal blow. He was furious and scrambled to his feet, only to find that the horsen had already surrounded him. As they sized him up, he realized they were desert bandits.
The scar-faced man leading them spoke. "Kid, you dare trespass on my territory? I’m Jin Qianbao, and you’re clearly tired of living!"
Ye Fan replied, "This place belongs to the Divine Land, so it’s the Divine Land’s territory, not yours!"
"Huh?"
The group glared at him angrily, but Ye Fan stood his ground calmly.
The scar-faced man sneered, "In the desert, might makes right. The territory belongs to whoever has the power. Even if this isn’t my land, I’m the one who calls the shots here! You dare to barge in without announcing yourself? You clearly have no respect for !" he roared, brandishing the Mountain Opening Saber at Ye Fan.
Ye Fan stated flatly, "I have no respect for you whatsoever."
"Good, very good! Not many people in the Death Desert dare to speak to
with that tone. Kid, today I’ll let you see how powerful Jin Qianbao is." With that, he charged toward Ye Fan.
Just as Ye Fan prepared to strike, a wail from the rear of the crowd made Jin Qianbao turn. Their rear flank was being ambushed.
Although there were only a dozen or so attackers, none of the bandits could withstand their lethal moves as they cut through the crowd. More frighteningly, they wielded daggers. Wherever the daggers flashed, bandits’ heads were lopped off. They all bore the insignia of a Qilin.
Ye Fan imdiately realized who they were. They were neither the Divine Dragon nor from his Heavenly King Hall. If he wasn’t mistaken, they had to be from the Divine Land’s strongest special combat team: the Yanhuang Special Forces.
The Yanhuang Special Forces were the most powerful special forces team in the Divine Land, top-tier in both individual and group operations. Furthermore, they were proficient in various military skills like hacking and bomb disposal. Each mber could operate independently and was a standout in the military, making them comparable to the United States Sea Lion Assault Team. The strength of the Yanhuang Special Forces was truly formidable. They rarely took action, so their appearance today was unexpected.
Jin Qianbao bellowed, "I have no quarrel with your Divine Land military! Why are you attacking ?"
The leading captain replied coldly, "You bandits are completely lawless, rampaging through the deserts of the northern border. Today, on behalf of the Yanhuang Special Forces, I will eliminate a threat to our nation!"
"A threat to the nation? How noble!" Jin Qianbao responded furiously. "Today, I’ll make sure none of you leave here alive!" He charged at the captain, wielding his Mountain Opening Saber.
"Pathetic."
The captain of the Yanhuang Special Forces moved, his dagger flashing as it caught the sunlight. All Jin Qianbao saw was a blur. Beads of blood scattered into the air as he collapsed, clutching his wound. He struggled to look up at the man, but the captain hadn’t given any of them a proper glance, save for this final, desperate struggle.
In just a few short minutes, the dozen or so soldiers had finished off the entire group of bandits. They were truly powerful, fully deserving of their title as the Yanhuang Special Forces.
At that point, the captain approached Ye Fan and warned him, "The heart of this desert is not a place for just anyone to wander. You were lucky to run into us this ti. Next ti, they will surely kill you! If you know what’s good for you, leave now and don’t throw your life away for nothing."
However, Ye Fan simply turned and said, "Even without you, I could have killed these bandits myself."
Instantly, the man’s gaze on Ye Fan wavered. He seed to have an impression of him, though he had never seen him in person. The next mont, he exclaid, "King of Heaven!"
"You know ?" Ye Fan asked. He was a bit confused. Although the Yanhuang Special Forces were famous, he had never seen this man before.
"I haven’t t you personally," the man said, "but I’ve seen your file at my master’s place. So, you *are* Lord King!"
"Who is your master?" Ye Fan inquired.
"Zhan Xiong!" he declared without hesitation.
What a coincidence, running into an acquaintance’s disciple out here. My friendship with Zhan Xiong runs deep. "So you’re a disciple of Elder Zhan Xiong," Ye Fan said. "It’s a pleasure to et you."
"Lord King, our tents are just ahead. Would you care to join us in our camp to talk?" the man invited.
"Of course," Ye Fan replied.
The man felt a deep sense of sha. To think I’d et such an important figure here! The King of Heaven is a peer of my master, and his strength has long since surpassed his. Because of this, and since his master and Ye Fan were good friends, he treated Ye Fan with great respect.
"What’s your na?" Ye Fan asked.
"My na is Leng Dao!"
"Leng Dao? Is Leng Feng your senior or junior martial brother?" Ye Fan asked.
"He is my junior martial brother," Leng Dao replied. "I am our master’s eldest disciple."
Ye Fan smiled. "Your strength is formidable. I imagine you’re not far behind your master."
Leng Dao’s strength has already reached the Half-step Emperor Level. Perhaps he’ll reach the Emperor Level even faster than Zhan Xiong!
"You flatter ," Leng Dao said modestly. "How could I possibly compare to my master?"
Then, he asked Ye Fan, "Lord King, are you also here for the Bengyu?"
For this mission, even he, the captain of the Yanhuang Special Forces, had co in person. One could only imagine how fierce the competition for the Bengyu would be.
