Chapter 196: Chapter 195 Sudden Mishap
However, the Yan Clan Patriarch interjected, "According to our records, the previous Holy Daughter feared the White Tiger would one day bring disaster to the world. Before her death, she placed three restrictive seals on its body. If we can activate those seals, the White Tiger will have no combat power."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Ye Fan shouted, imdiately charging forward.
At this, the Yan Clan Patriarch rushed forward as well. His strength was formidable, and he engaged the White Tiger head-on while Ye Fan searched for the seals on the beast’s body. But there were no seals to be found. Instead, their interference only enraged the White Tiger, which let out a deafening roar and lunged at them. A massive claw swept through the air.
"AAARGH!"
The two of them were sent flying, smashing hard against the wall. These were two experts who could shake the world on their own, yet here they were, being chased around by a single White Tiger.
"We have to fight it!" Ye Fan yelled, refusing to be bullied by a re beast. He summoned the full authority of the King of Heaven. "Dragon Essence Power!"
A trendous dragon’s roar emanated from his body as a formidable wave of energy shot toward the White Tiger. However, just as the tempestuous power was about to strike, the beast let out an even greater roar, shattering Ye Fan’s attack instantly. Ye Fan was dumbfounded. He hadn’t expected the White Tiger to be so ferocious. That attack represented the peak of his current strength, yet it had been utterly useless.
He glanced toward where the Yan Clan Patriarch should have been, only to find him gone. Looking back toward the entrance, he saw the patriarch fleeing for his life.
Damn it! The coward! Ye Fan was infuriated. The Yan Clan Patriarch had just abandoned him and fled. So much for this collaboration.
Ti to go! Ye Fan also turned and fled. He realized that even as the King of Heaven, he stood no chance against a Divine Beast. The White Tiger surged forward, hot on his heels.
The Yan Clan Patriarch was the first to make it out. He looked utterly disheveled, his dignity completely gone, but survival was all that mattered. "Quick, close the stone door!" he gasped. "The Divine Beast is even more irritable than before!"
Hearing this, a group of clan mbers prepared to shut the heavy stone door, but at that mont, Alice cried out, "Wait! Yezi is still inside!"
"Holy Daughter, if that Divine Beast gets out, our Yan Clan will be dood, and it will bring disaster upon the world!" the Great Elder urgently reminded her.
"Hmph! I don’t care about any of that," she retorted. "All I know is that Yezi’s life is more important than my own. Besides, the Divine Beast already awakened once to save . I believe it won’t cause any trouble. If you’re going to close the stone door, then you might as well lock
in there with it!" Alice finished angrily.
The Yan Clan Patriarch and the Great Elder were frantic. Many mbers of the Yan Clan were already fleeing in terror; as mbers of the clan, they knew all too well how terrifying the White Tiger was. Alice stood her ground, unmoving. The Yan Clan Patriarch steeled himself, preparing to take the imnse risk of knocking her unconscious—a deeply disrespectful act. But before he could move, a powerful roar and a gust of wind blew out from the chamber. Ye Fan ca stumbling out of the stone doorway right after, collapsing on the ground in a disheveled heap.
The White Tiger was right behind him. It opened its gaping, blood-red maw, ready to devour him.
But in that instant, Alice stepped directly in front of Ye Fan. "Don’t!" the n cried out at once, squeezing their eyes shut as the monstrous jaws lunged downward.
The White Tiger roared at Alice, but she felt no fear. She held her scepter before her, and it began to glow. The light seed to confuse the beast, causing it to stomp erratically.
Alice’s voice rang out with authority. "White Tiger! I am the Yan Clan Saintess, the one true and undisputed Holy Daughter! You must obey , for I am your new master! As the Holy Daughter, I command you: behave yourself!"
At Alice’s command, the restless White Tiger suddenly grew calm. It obediently padded over to her and, like a common lapdog, stuck out its long tongue and began wagging its tail. The sight of its towering, seven-ter-tall fra acting so subservient was unexpectedly endearing.
Ye Fan was stunned. The Yan Clan Patriarch was stunned. The Yan Clan Martial Artists who had been ready to fight were in utter disbelief. At that mont, they all felt that the White Tiger had just lost all the dignity befitting a Divine Beast. For a mighty creature of its stature to display the characteristics of a dog... it was an unbelievable loss of face.
Alice reached out her hand, and the White Tiger obediently lowered its head to her. Everyone watched as she caressed its massive, now-docile head. "You’re my good tiger now," she said softly. "From now on, you don’t get angry without my permission, understand?"
Its spiritual wisdom just beginning to awaken, the White Tiger nodded obediently. A collective sigh of relief went through the crowd.
"P-Proceed with the next ritual!" the Yan Clan Patriarch stamred, his face twitching. While the outco was a relief, the shock had been almost too much for his heart to bear.
The White Tiger then carried Alice upon its back to the high altar. At that mont, the Great Elder commanded, "Open the Five Emperors’ Inheritance!"
As his words fell, a section beneath the altar slid open. Five currents of martial energy, each a distinct color, surged out from below. They shot into the sky before converging and rushing down toward Alice. When the five powers descended upon her, she felt an imnse force pressing down, threatening to crush her.
Such imnse power! Ye Fan thought, stunned. The power was terrifyingly potent, and the fusion of the five energies had reached a level of extre purity.
The clan mbers began to chant the words of the inheritance ritual. Alice’s face went ghastly pale, her normally healthy complexion draining of color until it was white as a sheet. It was a heart-stopping sight.
Hang in there! Ye Fan pleaded inwardly, sweating bullets for her.
The Great Elder and the Yan Clan Patriarch looked on, their faces etched with worry. They were beginning to realize they had made a terrible mistake. It seed they had rushed Alice into the inheritance far too soon. If she had undergone this ceremony in three years, success would have been guaranteed. But now... it was simply too early.
"Pfft!" Alice coughed, spitting a mouthful of blood as she collapsed onto the altar.
"Holy Daughter!" the Great Elder cried out.
"We must stop the inheritance!" the Yan Clan Patriarch declared.
The Great Elder moved to shut down the Five Emperors’ Inheritance, but at that mont, the five powers pressed down on Alice again with renewed force.
"Not good!" Ye Fan shouted, but he was too late. The five streams of energy vanished, leaving only Alice’s still form lying on the altar.
He rushed forward and gathered her into his arms. Holding the dying Alice, he choked out, "Alice, don’t scare !"
The Yan Clan Patriarch and the Great Elder were filled with crushing regret. They had done sothing incredibly foolish. Was Alice going to die because of them? The guilt would be unbearable. Many of the Yan Clan mbers began to weep as they felt Alice’s vitality fading, her life force scattering into the air.
She slowly opened her eyes and looked at Ye Fan. "Yezi... I... I can’t walk with you any longer."
"No! I need you to walk with !" Ye Fan said, his voice thick with unshed tears.
"Yezi," she whispered, "in the days without , you have to take good care of yourself. And date fewer girls. You’ve already incurred so many debts of the heart; you can’t afford any more."
"Promise !" she begged, another trickle of blood escaping her lips.
"I promise you," Ye Fan said solemnly.
At that mont, he couldn’t identify what he was feeling. All he knew was that he was on the verge of a complete collapse.
