Chapter 168: Chapter 167 Unawake from Deep Sleep
The three n opened fire simultaneously, but Ye Fan miraculously dodged every bullet. His skill had undoubtedly surpassed Mo Chou’s comprehension.
It wasn’t just Mo Chou; the three assailants trembled as well. A man who could dodge bullets—they genuinely couldn’t tell if he was a man or a ghost.
In the blink of an eye, Ye Fan rushed them, sending them into a panic. The leader had just pulled out a dagger when Ye Fan broke his arm.
Ye Fan caught the falling dagger and flicked it across the man’s neck, slitting his throat. As another assailant raised his handgun, Ye Fan threw the dagger again, severing the man’s fingers.
"AH!" he shrieked, clutching his hand. But his cry was cut short as Ye Fan retrieved the dagger and plunged it into his chest. The man fell, clutching the wound as his life ebbed away.
The last man tried to vault the bridge’s railing to escape. Ye Fan hurled the dagger one last ti, embedding it deep in the man’s back. He instantly plumted from the bridge, which stood dozens of ters high. To say he was shattered to pieces on impact would be no exaggeration.
Mo Chou was stunned. He had always known Ye Fan was strong, but he had never imagined he was *this* strong. So strong he seed invincible. With this kind of power, he could probably rival the Elders from the Green Emperor Sect. He really is that capable.
Ye Fan drove them to the Mo Family estate.
When they arrived and got out of the car, a man with a sinister charm walked over. Ye Fan’s first impression was that this was a treacherous, scheming man. This was Mo Jue, Mo Chou’s sworn younger brother and the previous Family Head’s adopted son. Mo Chou had managed the family enterprises for too many years to let Mo Jue simply reap the rewards.
Mo Jue glanced at Ye Fan and Tang Yu Rou with a look of undisguised disdain.
I’d love to punch this guy’s lights out. But not right now. He’s too deeply connected with the Green Emperor Sect, and I have to think about Mo Chou’s position.
Just then, Mo Jue spoke with feigned concern, "Big Brother, what happened to your car? Was there an accident? With the Mo Family’s status, you could have just called . I would have co to support you. Anyone who dares bully the Mo Family won’t get away with it! There are too many of these criminals out there."
Mo Chou replied coldly, "I wouldn’t dare trouble you to rescue . I haven’t lived long enough yet. I’m afraid certain people who wish I were dead would only put on a disgusting pretense of helping ."
"Hahaha, now that’s where you’re mistaken, Big Brother," Mo Jue chuckled mockingly. "We’re brothers for life! How about I host a banquet to welco you ho tonight?"
"No need. I can’t afford it," Mo Chou snapped. "Let’s go."
He led Ye Fan and Tang Yu Rou inside. Once they were away from Mo Jue, Ye Fan whispered, "He practices Martial Arts. He’s not weak. He may look frail, but he’s already at the Inner Strength Level."
"What?" Mo Chou was astonished. They had known each other for so long, yet he never knew his sworn brother practiced Martial Arts, much less that he was an accomplished practitioner.
It seed the struggle for power was going to be difficult. Mo Chou currently had no support from the underground world. While he was dominant in the secular sphere, it seed useless now because Mo Jue had the backing of the Green Emperor Sect.
The three of them entered a sickroom where a woman lay sleeping. She was gentle and beautiful; though in her forties, she looked as if she were only in her thirties. Moreover, her resemblance to Tang Yu Rou was uncanny, as if Tang Yu Rou were a miniature version of her younger self.
"She is...?" Tang Yu Rou asked, her voice trembling slightly. She had already guessed the answer but found it hard to believe.
Mo Chou turned to the bodyguards who had been standing watch day and night. "You can step outside."
"Yes, sir." The bodyguards filed out.
He then said, "She is your mother, Tang Wanchou."
"A year ago, she was ambushed, which caused her to fall into a deep coma. She’s been asleep ever since. Before she lost consciousness, her only wish was to see you one last ti. Now you’ve returned, but it’s a pity... she can’t see you."
Even a business tycoon like Mo Chou couldn’t hold back his tears at this mont. The feeling of his family being torn apart was awful. The only silver lining was that he had finally found his daughter.
"Mother!" Tang Yu Rou cried out, tears streaming down her face. She had never imagined that their reunion would be like this. She desperately wanted to wake her mother, but she knew it was impossible.
And yet, at that mont, a tear slid from the corner of the sleeping Tang Wanchou’s eye. It was as if she was struggling to break free from her deep slumber but was powerless to do so.
"A Martial Artist!" Ye Fan realized instantly.
He had detected subtle traces from Tang Wanchou. Though she was comatose, he could still sense a power within her. Tang Wanchou’s strength was not weak at all; she had already reached the Postnatal realm.
For such a powerful Martial Artist to willingly marry Mo Chou... Perhaps this is what love truly is.
For a Postnatal Martial Artist to be so severely injured in an ambush, the attacker must have been at least at the Postnatal Advanced or even the Postnatal Peak level. Otherwise, it would have been impossible.
He said, "Auntie is actually a Martial Artist!"
Mo Chou nodded, confirming Ye Fan’s words. "Yes, she is a Martial Artist. She cos from a hidden Sect in the Divine Land. Years ago, she saved my life, and we fell in love."
"She defied her Sect to be with , so I owe her so much. And the ambush... it happened because of . I’m certain that the attacker was from the Green Emperor Sect!"
Prompted by Mo Chou, Ye Fan asked, "What happened?"
"Last year was when Mo Jue and I were at the height of our struggle for the position of Family Head. One night, a powerful expert broke into my villa," Mo Chou explained. "He ca for , intending to kill . I was caught completely off guard, and Wan Chou took the blow for . That’s how she was injured. She has never woken up since."
Mo Chou recounted the unbearable mory, his voice filled with sorrow. The attack had been aid at him, but Tang Wanchou had shielded him with her own body. He owed her his life.
Tang Yu Rou was crying inconsolably. She never knew her parents’ fate had been so fraught with hardship.
Ye Fan said, "The attacker was a master. To injure Auntie so severely, it almost certainly had to be soone from the Green Emperor Sect."
"Let’s go," Mo Chou said, his voice heavy with despair. "We shouldn’t disturb your mother’s rest."
He used to be a man of high spirits, but ever since Tang Wanchou was injured, he had fallen into a state of decline. That was how Mo Jue had managed to gain the upper hand in the Mo Family. In the past, his influence was far greater than Mo Jue’s. Now, that forr prestige was gone, and he was just a lonely, heartbroken man.
Just then, Ye Fan spoke up. "Auntie may be severely injured, but her condition isn’t hopeless. I can cure her."
"What? You can cure her?" Mo Chou was flabbergasted. To him, this was the best news he could possibly imagine.
"Darling, you have to save my mother," Tang Yu Rou pleaded through her tears. "I can’t bear to see her like this. I want to talk to her, to be with her!"
"Don’t worry, my love," Ye Fan said gently. "I’ll do everything I can to make sure you and your mother are reunited."
