Chapter 136: Chapter 135: Fierce Competition
"Get the Dark Green Crystal Stone, then leave this place!" the King of Bai Ting commanded the nine n.
The n nodded and imdiately rushed down from the mine. The two Kings once again closed in on Ye Fan. For Ye Fan, his plan had succeeded.
The nine n reached the bottom of the mine, where the Dark Green Crystal Stone was floating. The stone, not particularly large, shimred as it emitted strong waves of light. They approached, intending to seize it.
But at that mont, a figure appeared, blocking their path. It was the Shadow Demon Queen, who had been lurking in the shadows all along.
"Who are you?" the nine n shouted.
The Shadow Demon Queen replied, "You are not worthy to know who I am!"
Infuriated, the nine n attacked at once. Unfortunately, they were vastly inferior to the Shadow Demon Queen. She defeated them in just a few moves, leaving them wounded and bleeding. They were horrified; this was yet another expert on par with a King. The Dark Green Crystal Stone truly had many contenders. Facing such a formidable opponent, they were utterly powerless.
Just then, the Shadow Demon Queen declared, "No one can compete with !" Her eyes were fixed solely on the floating Dark Green Crystal Stone.
She stepped forward quickly, reaching out to grab it, when a powerful force struck from the darkness. The Shadow Demon Queen reacted swiftly and struck back, but she was a step too late. A strange figure sent her flying.
She had only managed to grab a small piece of the Dark Green Crystal Stone. The large remaining piece was snatched away by this figure.
The Shadow Demon Queen was furious, unwilling to accept that the prize had been stolen from her. It was then that she noticed many dark figures lurking nearby. The shadow that had just struck her was now howling in an ancient, bizarre voice—a sound chilling to the bone.
Even the three fighting Kings paused. "Vampires!" the Green Netherworld King exclaid in shock. Even the King of Bai Ting felt a sense of inexplicable fear. Ye Fan was perplexed. Could the Vampire Clan truly exist in this world? This is no simple matter.
At that mont, countless dark bats appeared around the mine, and pairs of blood-red eyes began to close in on them through the darkness.
"Retreat!"
The Green Netherworld King and the King of Bai Ting wanted to flee, but unfortunately, they were surrounded.
Below, the Shadow Demon Queen scrambled up the mine, attempting to escape. At the bottom, the shadows lunged at the nine n.
"AHH!"
The n’s agonized screams echoed through the mine.
Ye Fan hadn’t anticipated such a turn of events. It was terrifying. Vampires, known as the Ghost Clan, originated in the most ancient West. Legends of vampires existed all over the world. They had always assud such stories were fictitious, but now they saw they were real. If not for tonight, they would have never believed the legends.
Just then, the figure that had emitted the terrifying howl also rose. The four of them sensed grave danger as the dark figures drew closer and closer.
"We’ll have to fight our way out!"
The King of Bai Ting and the Green Netherworld King took action at once, attempting to break through the siege and carve a bloody path to freedom. Ye Fan and the Shadow Demon Queen did likewise, attacking in another direction. They had no choice; these vampires were simply too powerful. They feared the sun and lived forever in darkness. Other than sunlight, they were nearly invincible and almost impossible to kill.
The strongest vampire rushed toward the Green Netherworld King, who swung his Knight Sword and pierced its body. However, just as the Green Netherworld King thought he had succeeded, the unexpected happened. The creature grabbed his body, lunged at his neck, and bit down.
"AHHH!"
The Green Netherworld King scread in agony, feeling all the blood drain from his body. Amidst his violent struggles, Ye Fan could only watch as his body gradually withered into a dry corpse, which the Vampire Commander then tossed to the ground.
Ye Fan gasped. Terrifying. Truly, utterly terrifying.
Upon witnessing this, the King of Bai Ting fled. The Vampire Commander then turned and pursued the nearest target—Ye Fan.
Ye Fan prepared to fight. In his view, its strength shouldn’t be overwhelming, but the Green Netherworld King’s fate was a harsh lesson, and he dared not be careless.
At that mont, the Shadow Demon Queen suddenly began chanting a spell. As she did, the vampires grew restless and retreated. Even the Vampire Commander seed to feel a wave of unease and discomfort. Seizing this perfect opportunity, Ye Fan and the Shadow Demon Queen rapidly withdrew. The King of Bai Ting also managed to escape, using the moonlight for cover.
Enraged, the Vampire Commander barked orders in its own tongue, sending the horde of vampires after the fleeing trio.
The Shadow Demon Queen sent a signal for her people to retreat, but she received no response. She realized her people must have perished; otherwise, they would have responded. A surge of anger washed over her. This was a trap—not hers or the other two kings’, but the vampires’. They had been lying in wait here all along. She had overlooked this possibility.
Ye Fan asked, "Did you get the Dark Green Crystal Stone?"
The Shadow Demon Queen opened her hand, revealing a thumb-sized piece of the Dark Green Crystal Stone twinkling in her palm. Just as Ye Fan reached out to feel it, she snatched her hand back.
She said, "I didn’t get the large piece. You must help !"
"Why? Is the Dark Green Crystal Stone really that important? So important that you’d risk your life for it?" Ye Fan was puzzled. He couldn’t understand why it was so crucial, especially with that terrifying and eerie horde of vampires around. One wrong move could lead to the sa fate as the Green Netherworld King. He had witnessed it with his own eyes and believed the risk was simply not worth it.
The Shadow Demon Queen said, "If you won’t help , then I’ll go get it myself!"
"Wait," Ye Fan demanded angrily. "Tell
clearly, why do you need the Dark Green Crystal Stone so badly?" He had to know the reason! Although the power contained within the stone was imnse, it was worthless compared to one’s life.
The Shadow Demon Queen said nothing. Instead, she lifted her hair, revealing two stark bite marks on her neck—the unmistakable sign of a vampire’s attack.
"Now you understand, don’t you?" she said coldly.
"What happened? Why do you have a vampire’s bite marks on your neck?" Ye Fan asked, completely baffled.
"I have been poisoned by the Vampire Clan," the Shadow Demon Queen replied. "The toxin resides within my body, torturing
and making my life an unbearable agony. If my willpower falters for even a mont, I’ll truly beco one of them. Only the Dark Green Crystal Stone can save !"
"How did they poison you?" he asked her.
"Years ago, I accidentally entered a dilapidated church in the mountains and was bitten on the neck by an ancient vampire. Though I managed to kill him, I have had to endure this bone-deep pain every full moon since. I just want to be a normal person! This toxin has given
imnse power, but it’s not a power I ever wanted!" the Shadow Demon Queen confessed.
Ye Fan finally understood why her strength had grown so quickly. It’s the influence of the vampire’s toxin. It granted her formidable power, but it’s gradually consuming her will. This is undoubtedly a terrifying ordeal: either beco an immortal vampire or remain a normal human who can feel the warmth of the sun. No wonder she was so desperate to get the Dark Green Crystal Stone. He suddenly realized that beneath her powerful exterior, the Shadow Demon Queen was actually quite pitiable.
A wave of compassion washed over him. "Alright," he said. "I’ll help you get the rest of the Dark Green Crystal Stone!"
