Hugo's brain short-circuited the second the door creaked open behind him.
'No, no, no! WHY couldn't she just stay inside?!'
His thoughts were full-on screaming now, like a whole stadium of angry fans yelling at a losing team.
'Was that too much to ask? Just stay in the room, Celine! For five minutes! FIVE!'
And of course, there she was.
Celine.
Effortlessly beautiful, hair slightly ssy in that perfect 'I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-and-look-gorgeous" way.
Her lips were still swollen from their earlier kissing marathon, and that smug little smirk on her face?
Yeah, that was the cherry on top of this disaster sundae.
Hugo didn't even have ti to recover before the real bomb dropped.
Loli's eyes widened.
Like, cartoonishly wide. Her pupils dilated, her mouth opened just a little, and—oh no—her eyes were starting to shimr.
Tears were definitely on the way!
"Nope. Nope. I am not emotionally equipped for this!" Hugo's heart started doing parkour in his chest.
"This can't be happening. I am officially cursed."
For a mont, Loli just stood there, staring at Celine like she was trying to figure out if she was in so bad reality show prank.
The silence was worse than any shouting could've been. Then—oh, God—she turned those watery, soul-piercing eyes toward him.
And glared.
Not just any glare, either. This was the kind of look that could curdle milk, turn fresh fruit rotten, and make grown n cry for their mothers.
'I'm going to die.' Hugo's thoughts went into full survival mode.
'This is it. Ga over. I've lived a good life. Soone write on my gravestone: 'Here lies Hugo. Tried to be smooth, died painfully.''
Before he could even process how utterly dood he was, Celine decided to throw a live grenade into the situation.
"Who's this cute little thing?" she purred, her voice dripping with mock sweetness as her eyes lazily scanned Loli from head to toe. "She looks... gullible."
'ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ?!' Hugo's internal screaming reached maximum volu.
'Read the room, Celine! This is not the ti to be savage! You freaky, nasty, absolutely beautiful, asshole f*cking goddess!'
Hugo spun toward her, his hands flying up like a referee calling for a tiout.
"Celine, stop. Just… go back inside and wait for , alright?" His voice was strained, every word sounding like he was holding together a collapsing dam of pure panic.
But Loli?
Yeah, she snapped.
"Wait for you?!" Loli's voice hit that high, dangerous pitch—the kind of tone that made every hair on Hugo's neck stand on end.
"You actually still want to go back in there?! With her?!"
Oops!
A tactical error!
Celine wasn't done yet, though. Oh no, she wasn't even close to done dropping bombs on Hugo's life.
She was just getting started!
"Of course," she said, flipping her hair like so kind of smug queen. "He just ate out—we aren't done yet."
BOOM.
GA OVER!
'I'M DEAD. I AM ACTUALLY DEAD NOW. DEADER THAN THE GODS!' Hugo's brain combusted on the spot.
'What did I do to deserve this?! Was I a war criminal in a past life?!'
Loli's face went from red to white to nuclear fury in 2.3 seconds.
Tears shimred in her eyes, but now her whole body shook with a rage so fierce it could probably power a small city.
Hugo's body locked up like a glitching video ga character. 'What should I do now?!'
His thoughts were flying faster than lightning bolts, each one more useless than the last. 'Do I run? Apologize? Fake a heart attack? Jump out the window?!'
But his survival instincts which were clearly broken at this point, decided to try talking.
"Loli, wait, it's not what you—"
"Not what I think?!" she snapped, cutting him off like a samurai sword through wet tissue paper. Explore new worlds at My Virtual Library Empire
"You're literally about to go back into that room with her, and she just told —she just told —"
Her voice cracked on the last word, and Hugo felt the guilt punch him straight in the stomach.
But why was he actually feeling guilty. They truly weren't a thing yet!
Sure, they had kissed a couple of tis, but it's not like he had put a ring on her finger!
'I didn't even do anything THAT bad!'
His inner monologue flailed in pure panic. 'Okay, maybe I did, but it's not like we're dating! Why does it feel like I'm breaking up with soone I never even dated?!'
Celine leaned in from the doorway, voice dripping with more poison than a snake convention.
"Aw, is the poor girl upset? Maybe next ti don't try to act like his girlfriend when you're clearly not."
'CELINE, PLEASE!' Hugo wanted to scream. 'YOU'RE MAKING IT WORSE!'
The tension in the hallway was so thick you could cut it with a spoon.
Loli's fists clenched. Hugo could practically see the ani-style veins popping out of her forehead.
She took a deep breath—always a bad sign.
"You're disgusting, Hugo." Her voice was cold. Icy. It made him feel like he'd just been hit by a blizzard wrapped in emotional trauma.
Before Hugo could say another word, she spun on her heel and stord off down the hallway, hoodie bouncing with every furious step.
"I'm going to die alone." Hugo's brain was officially shutting down. "No girlfriend, no hookups, just and my bad decisions forever."
Celine, clearly enjoying herself way too much, sauntered over and rested a hand on his shoulder.
"Well," she whispered in his ear, her breath warm against his neck, "I guess she wasn't as gullible as I thought. See you later, Hugo."
Then she left.
She left!
Hugo's soul left his body right then and there.
