Hugo froze in his tracks like a statue suddenly struck by lightning.

His body stiffened, muscles locked tight, and his brain scread one thought over and over like a broken record:

"No. No. NO! It can't be!"

That voice—even if he died, got reincarnated, and died again—he'd still recognize it!

It was sweet, soft, yet carrying that dangerous sharpness underneath like a dagger wrapped in velvet. It was the one voice he'd hoped to avoid tonight at all costs.

Loli.

Panic slamd into him like a freight train. His heartbeat skyrocketed so fast it felt like his chest might explode.

His eyes darted around the room as if looking for an escape hatch, but there was none. No way out.

'Calm down, calm down, calm down!'

His thoughts were spiraling, so in pure survival mode, Hugo did the only thing he could: he activated the Aura of Zen.

A sudden wave of calmness washed over him—his heartbeat slowed, his hands stopped trembling, and his mind cleared just enough to think straight.

But the reality was still crushing him like a truck.

How?

How was she back at the party?!

He and Collins had literally lied to her, telling her that his mom had fainted and that he had to rush away imdiately.

It had been such a foolproof plan—she even left!

He rembered clearly that Collins had carried out the plan with the finesse of a pro and had co back to tell him she had left!

She had definitely left!

So why… WHY in the seven hells was she back?!

Before he could unravel the horrifying mystery, a voice—Celine's voice—broke his internal ltdown.

"Who the f*ck is that?" Her voice was low, sultry, but also slightly annoyed, her body still sprawled out beneath him, lips swollen from their passionate kissing session monts before.

Hugo's stomach did a full-on Olympic backflip.

'I'm so f*cked.' His thoughts were practically screaming at this point. 'This is karma. I must've been a terrible person in a past life. I must have been a terrorist in my past life!'

Trying to save himself, Hugo quickly forced on his calst voice. It was his trusty weapon since his days as a gang mber in Spain.

It was the voice he usually reserved for getting out of detention.

"Give a few minutes. I'll… handle this." His voice cracked on the last word, but he powered through like a true survivor.

He could only move forward!

In a frantic blur, he yanked on his boxers, scrambled to find his pants, and shoved his legs in the wrong holes the first ti.

His mind was so frazzled it felt like his neurons were doing sorsaults. His shirt? Yeah, that went on inside out, because obviously, the universe hated him.

'Why ?' he thought while pulling his belt tight. 'I'm a good guy! Mostly! Okay, maybe not tonight—but still! How can you betray so badly, Goddess of Luck!'

He sprinted toward the door, unlocked it with trembling fingers, and took a deep breath like a man preparing to walk into an active volcano.

And there she was.

Loli.

Back in her familiar, oversized hoodie, her arms crossed and her eyes shining with barely held-back tears.

She wasn't just angry—she was betrayed. She looked like she just saw her boyfriend on only fans, but with a different girl!

Hugo's throat dried up instantly.

"It's not what you think," he blurted out, raising both hands in surrender like a man held at gunpoint.

Loli's answer?

A punch!

Or rather—it would have been if Hugo hadn't reacted fast enough to grab her wrist mid-air.

Her small hand trembled slightly in his grip, but the fury in her eyes was burning hotter than the sun.

'Why is she acting like we're already dating?!' Hugo thought frantically, his eyes darting around in search of soone—anyone—to rescue him.

'This level of possessiveness isn't normal unless I sohow signed a secret marriage contract without knowing!'

"Let go of , Hugo!" Loli hissed, trying to yank her hand free.

"Can we just—talk for a second?!" Hugo's voice cracked as he held firm.

"You liar! You told your mom fainted!" Loli's voice was sharp enough to cut glass. "And then I co back, and you're—you're ssing around with so other girl?!"

Hugo's mind went full-on DEFCON 1.

'ssing around?! No, no, no, I am not ready to be buried alive tonight!'

"Okay, okay, listen," Hugo said quickly, trying to sound calm but probably coming off like soone begging for their life.

"You're… totally misreading the situation."

"Oh?!" Loli's eyes narrowed, and she tried to peek past him toward the door. "Then why won't you let inside?"

"Because!" Hugo blocked the entrance with his body like a human wall. "There's… um… confidential stuff in there!"

"Confidential stuff?!" she shot back, voice rising. "Like what, your dignity?!"

"Ouch. That one hurt."

He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to hold onto the last scraps of his patience. "Loli, can we not do this here? Just—trust , okay? It's not what you're thinking."

"Trust you?" Her voice wobbled slightly, like she was hurt but trying to hide it. "I ca to this party just to be with you, Hugo, but you're out here—toying with so other girl after devilishly sending away?"

That hit Hugo harder than any physical punch could've.

'Wait—what?' His brain screeched to a halt. 'We're not even dating! Why does it feel like I'm already married and in trouble for cheating?!'

But before he could say another word, the universe decided to slap him one more ti for good asure. Stay connected via My Virtual Library Empire

The door behind Hugo creaked open.

And there she was.

Celine.

In all her gorgeous, disheveled, post-makeout-session glory.

Her hair was a little ssy, her lips slightly swollen, and her shirt hanging off one shoulder like she had just stepped out of a dream—and into Hugo's worst nightmare.

She leaned lazily against the doorfra, an amused smile tugging at her lips as she eyed the chaos unfolding in front of her.

"Well," she said with a purr, "this just got interesting."
