Chapter 641: Another Survivor

Flash!

The world blurred for a second, and the man from the Flaming Rose was already gone—his torso carved apart in an instant.

A beat of silence passed.

Then the upper half of his body slid off the lower with a sickening squelch.

Blood sprayed like a fountain, dyeing the ground with purple blood.

The remaining mber blinked in disbelief.

Even the demonic apostle flinched.

“You… you killed him?” the last man asked, voice cracking with a trace of fear.

Nox slowly raised Glacier End, now dripping with blood.

“You talk too much.”

The last Flaming Rose mber roared, his face turning red in anger as he charged forward, a flaming sword overhead.

“DIEEEE!”

But Nox didn’t flinch. He moved—and in the blink of an eye, Nox was behind him.

The knight froze mid-swing, his eyes widening as he stared down at his chest where he could see the tip of a blade bursting out.

Then he collapsed—lifeless.

One strike.

Two kills.

Silence spread again. Even the demon hesitated now.

But Nox didn’t give it a chance.

Without warning, he dashed toward the Stitcher Apostle, swinging his blade violently.

The demon raised its ogre arm to block.

CLANG!

A wave of mana exploded as Glacier End collided with the massive limb.

Cracks ford along the demon’s fused body.

“You dare strike down the faithful flesh!?” it bellowed, swinging its skeletal hand at him.

But Nox leaned back, ducked, and thrust forward, piercing its gut.

STAB!

The priest let out a guttural shriek as ice began spreading from the wound.

Its stitched body convulsed violently.

“I told you,” Nox said coldly. “I don’t have ti for this.”

The demon roared one last ti before its entire body exploded into shards of black ice.

Everyone behind Nox was frozen in place when they witnessed this sight.

“W-What… was that?” soone whispered.

“He took down three high-level enemies… alone?” another student muttered, trembling.

Bridget didn’t speak. She just stared at Nox’s back with a complicated expression.

Nyx, however, smirked.

“Now you see what I an.”

But the mont was short-lived.

A sharp roar echoed from the south, then another from the north.

Everyone quickly stared in that direction—and they saw it. Demons. Dozens of them. Maybe hundreds, marching forward.

Nox turned back to the group and shouted,

“This way!”

They followed without a word now.

No one questioned his leadership anymore.

They ran through the streets of the academy. If there was one advantage they had against the demons, it was that this was their school—and they knew every nook and cranny like the back of their hands.

That’s what they thought, until Nox and Bridget suddenly halted in their steps when they sensed hundreds of presences all around them.

“AMBUSH!” soone scread.

A rain of dark arrows fell from the rooftops.

A group of black-robed archers stood high on the roofs of a towering building.

Nox’s eyes flashed.

He lifted his hand.

[Titanrock Barrier!]

BOOM!

The earth exploded as a wall erged from the ground. It grew to a staggering height of about four ters, shielding the students from the rain of arrows.

The rain of arrows clumsily slamd into the fortified wall. So bounced off while others snapped like twigs.

“Dammit, what’s that!?”

“It’s impenetrable!”

“Fire skyward!” the leader in charge of the archers commanded.

The archers aid their arrows skyward and released their fingers from the strings.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The next volley of arrows flew into the sky. After crossing about twenty ters in the air, they descended—whistling through the air with terrifying precision.

“Drake!” Nox shouted when he saw the flood of arrows.

“On it!” Drake replied, slamming his palm to the ground.

FWOOSH!

A massive ice roof burst into existence above them—a translucent sheet of glimring frost that arched overhead like a frozen do.

CLINK! CLINK! CLINK!

The arrows struck the ice ceiling and shattered one after another. Cracks ford, but it held.

But there was no ti to celebrate, because another troop of enemies—both mbers of the Flaming Rose and demons—were approaching from the other side of the wall.

“Jack, take ten students and clear the left side!” Nox ordered.

“Got it!” Jack responded, already moving.

“Nyx, cover the flank!”

“Leave it to ~” she smirked.

Bridget joined the rear, smashing down a demon that leaked toward them.

Every step was war.

The streets beca a battlefield.

Demons lunged from alleys.

Flaming Rose soldiers erged from collapsed buildings.

Students fought for their lives.

But Nox kept moving.

Every slash of Glacier End left behind frostfire trails that froze enemies in place.

anwhile, inside one of the half-destroyed classrooms deep within the academy, a cloaked girl slowly raised her head.

She had been hiding here this whole ti.

No food.

No help.

Just silence—and the sound of demons outside.

During the demon attack, she had split up with the others. Ever since, she had tried to look for them, but it had always ended in failure.

A part of her had even thought the students had either died… or escaped the island.

She had almost given up.

Until now.

BOOM!

Another explosion rang out in the distance.

The girl’s eyes snapped open.

She quickly crawled to the cracked window, pushed aside a fallen plank, and peeked out.

What she saw—

A massive wall made of stone, and above that stone was an ice do covering students from a rain of arrows.

Her eyes glead with a strange light, and her lips trembled.

“…Finally,” she muttered. “Soone ca for us.”

The girl stared at the sight for a few heartbeats longer, her fingers unconsciously tightening around the broken edge of the desk she leaned on. Her body still trembled slightly—part fear, part disbelief—but the fire in her chest had ignited once more. She recognized that wall of stone.

There was only one person she had seen pull that off before in the Tristan Kingdom.

“Nox.” A smile appeared on her face.
