Chapter 919: Chapter 5: Deluxe Support_3
No one had any objections to this arrangent, and everyone quite liked the na. Thus, everything about the airship was decided. They then spent half an hour discussing subsequent tasks and saying goodbye to friends.
“When you have ti, visit the shop I recomnded in Fire Wind State~” Kardesia waved.
“Wasn’t that a shop from ten years ago? Is it still there now?” Qin Qianbai asked.
“I’ve confird with my parents; most of them are still around!”
The doctor ca over last, with a few boxes of potions and so “local creatures’ favorite little trinkets” provided by United States researchers, which looked like dog food.
“Safe travels.” The doctor hugged Gongsun Ce, “Stay safe, and co back in one piece, okay?”
“Don’t worry, Sister Zhenfan, I’m not a kid anymore.” Gongsun Ce lightly patted her back, “Thanks a lot.”
Watching from the side, Orianna recalled the ti four years ago when they departed from the Sky City. Back then, Gongsun Ce was cheekily bothering this cold girl, who expressed her care in a clumsy way. She thought that four years was indeed a substantial ti, and growth wasn’t a privilege of the few; everyone had changed from their past selves.
The ceiling of the warehouse parted to both sides, and the airship lifted into the sky under everyone’s gaze, rising toward the azure blue sky like a true Dawn Star, heading to the distant United States.
·
The speed of the Dawn Star could not match that of the Lightning Caterpillar they took to Zero Island but was much faster than a regular comrcial airliner. The enchanting technology of Sky City made the journey almost completely noiseless, which greatly satisfied Shiyu Ling.
As the captain, Gongsun Ce didn’t need to personally pilot or navigate. With full control ceded to Qiluo, she could settle route planning and intricate operations with just a thought. They spent about half an hour familiarizing themselves with the ship’s layout, assigning rooms, and moving luggage (including Wawu). Everyone felt a bit of excitent as if they were heading out on an excursion.
After completing all these tasks, the five-mber team gathered in the midship. The room they were in connected to the control room at the front and the living area at the back. All three walls could be set to a one-way transparent mode, allowing for easy observation of the external environnt. A large table in the middle of the room held a portable display screen, with several single-person sofas covered in soft rugs placed around it, styled in a royal capital fashion. A tal plaque by the door displayed the words “Living Room” in the Imperial Language, but both Qin Qianbai and Gongsun Ce insisted on calling it the “Bridge.”
Gongsun Ce sat on the central sofa and tossed the photocopied itinerary to the mbers: “Look here, ladies, this is our travel plan. Our first stop on this trip is the Xuan Ci State in the southern part of the United States, which we’ll reach in about an hour and a half. It’s the hotown of Principal Onowell. His family and the Mithril Pillar will provide us with comprehensive support and help us understand the local customs and culture.”
Qiluo raised her hand expectantly: “Does Xuan Ci State have any unusual climates?”
“Yes. The state’s giant dragon landscape is…” Gongsun Ce browsed through the description, frowning, “Colorful magnetic currents? I don’t quite understand, but that’s what the materials say. It’s said that ‘magnetic storms’ have started appearing here since more than half a month ago, and the abnormal activity of ‘magnetic stone monsters’ has been troubling the locals greatly…”
“It sounds like the opening of an RPG ga.” Qin Qianbai said.
“That’s what the material actually says.” Gongsun Ce repeated helplessly, “Honestly, I’ve never been to the United States and have only watched so travel videos online. Could soone kindly introduce the local situation to ?”
Shiyu Ling shook the itinerary: “Before that, could you explain why there are only four big words ‘Adapt as Situation Demands’ from page three on?”
Gongsun Ce looked speechless at the trip planner, and the Dawn Knight remained calm.
“Due to the multifaceted influence of the local complex situation, we’ve decided to choose our investigation route based on the specific circumstances.”
Shiyu Ling’s black eyes were full of suspicion: “In other words, rushing around like headless chickens?”
“Exactly.”
For so reason, Alandia seed very pleased.
Gongsun Ce, slightly guessing, cleared his throat and changed the topic: “Ahem! I believe Alandia will explain the reason at the right ti. Now could the great traveler introduce the United States to us?”
“Do you really have to listen to the background introduction every ti on the ship?” Shiyu Ling rolled her eyes, “Ustus is too chaotic for to even know where to start. How much do you know about the United States?”
“Ah, the United States…”
As one of the two poles alongside the Empire, a paradise for capitalists and research scholars, the most fashionable country in the world, and the hotown of Kardesia, that was Gongsun Ce’s basic impression of Ustus before embarking on the mission. On the night before departure, he cramd through written materials about the United States at ho.
As of the end of last year, Ustus had a total population of about 2 billion. This behemoth, comparable to the Empire, is located north of the Yong Guang Empire and is a federal state occupying the entire northern continent. It is the youngest major country in the world, having been established only a thousand years ago and taking nearly five centuries to fully unify its territory. Therefore, in the eyes of old-fashioned individuals, Ustus often represents a nouveau riche and a lack of cultural depth.
Just as Zero Island has vortexes and the Kingdom has mists and crystals, the United States also possesses its own giant dragon landscape. Two thousand years ago, a Dragon Disaster, called the “Yao Bian Disaster,” descended upon the northern continent. This disaster brought irreversible catastrophic impacts to the entire continent, resulting in dozens of different peculiar phenona appearing simultaneously across the northern continent’s land. Among them were blessed teors, overgrown trees, and destructive fires. Each setting differed vastly. So people were born into beautiful environnts, allowing them to live comfortably, while many others lived their lives amid strong winds, blade rain, or magnetic currents, continually waging battles against the very land that nurtured them, finding ways to overco nature and seize life.
The ancestors of Ustus grew and thrived amid this struggle against the environnt. They carved out habitable territories in the treacherous natural settings and delineated self-governing regions based on the different local terrains on the northern continent. These beca the prototypes of the 51 “states” making up the current federation.
“…That’s all I know about the United States of the surface world. I’m clueless about the underworld of the United States, except that their official Impermanence Skill society is called the ‘Mithril Pillar’… Did I say sothing weird, Ling?”
Shiyu Ling began chuckling oddly at the second half, glancing at her boyfriend with a sense of superiority, saying with a raised chin: “Who told you that the Mithril Pillar is an official organization?”
“Huh?” Gongsun Ce scratched his head, “Isn’t it? Isn’t it the agents’ organization?”
“Oh my, that’s a so-called common sense error. The agents are official personnel, that’s true, but the Mithril Pillar is a private organization~”
The three novices who hadn’t been to the United States all looked bewildered, and the young lady spoke for the group: “Just how chaotic is this country?”
Shiyu Ling twirled a short arrow between her fingers: “Can’t figure it out, right? This matter has to be traced back to a very long ti ago… We’ll continue after we handle the task at hand.”
Almost at the sa ti she changed the topic, Qiluo looked up at the ceiling.
“A small aircraft is approaching.” Qiluo reported on the reconnaissance situation, “Platinum-painted, wingless structure, no organizational or official markings, one life sign detected. No landing request signal from them… It’s landed on our deck.”
“Sounds like a rather rude guest.” Gongsun Ce said.
As if in response to his words, a knocking sound echoed from overhead, carrying a rhythmic beat. In the middle of the strikes lay a sense of curiosity embedded within.
The eldest daughter activated the amplification device, broadcasting in universal language outward: “Co in.”
Qiluo opened up a special “airway” for the uninvited guest: the tal above the bridge swiftly moved, opening a vent directly to the deck. The guest seed indifferent to the formalities of entering the ship and appeared to disregard convention, letting a waterfall-like cascade of golden hair hang upside down from the vent, ending in a beautiful face with bright blue eyes brimming with curiosity.
The blonde woman grinned, her sharp teeth like those of a shark, and that smile reminded Gongsun Ce of certain large carnivorous animals.
