Chapter 699: Chapter 15 Suddenly Looking Back_3
“Oh, that’s really great!”
The girl on the other end of the phone said cheerfully, “What I just told you is that due to the simultaneous occurrence of multiple events, my work has beco way easier, way easier.
So, I’ve got ti to co see you at the City of Skies!”
Orianna’s coming? That’s just great. That really is so…
…
……?
…Orianna’s coming?
Orianna, coming???
“——!”
Mo Yuankai sprang up from the sofa in an instant, his mind awakening as if soone had poured a jin of mint oil after prying open his skull. This chill shot straight from his brain to his heart and spread throughout his limbs, causing him to break out in a cold sweat all over. He hurriedly ran towards the door to prepare his defenses, muttering quickly over the phone, “It’s like this, Knight Orianna, you might not know but I’ve moved to a new place and at the sa ti, my house is a ss, so please wait just a mont, I’ll tidy up and head to the airport to pick you up right away—”
“I just can’t wait to see you, Mo!” The female knight’s voice was filled with the sweetness of reunion, “I’m at your doorstep right now!”
“——wooahgah!!”
Mo Yuankai let out a cry of despair, his hand still hovering in the air, but the door handle started moving on its own! It was all too late, just like ti moves relentlessly forward without turning back, Mo Yuankai scread and reached out, the door handle turned by itself, the door opened outwards to reveal the scene outside his ho under the starry sky—
And her figure, standing outside.
“♪~~!”
Knight Orianna used a little bit of her power excitedly making the door revert to its opened state of the past. She was nervous yet filled with anticipation; she could finally see that handso, gallant, and gentle man again, her hero! What would he say? What would he think? What a surprise this night would be, would he co for a hug, or, a kiss…?
Her whimsical imagination sent her heart racing, as if she was back to the tender feelings of her first love, turned once more into that girl with a spring in her heart. Orianna looked towards the wooden door, towards the ho of the man she longed for, and said happily, “Long ti no see, Mo!”
“——wooahgah!!”
She heard a strange cry.
Next, she saw the man reaching out to the door.
A tacky shirt, dirty sweatpants, and large slippers on his feet. His black hair was as ssy as a bird’s nest, with a few grains of sand still in it; his face round as a pancake, with a double chin still trembling; his legs as thick as an elephant’s, a big blob of fat on his stomach jiggling with inertia, thick fingers holding a cellphone to his ear, playing back the words she just spoke.
“…”
The plump young man squeezed out an awkward smile and said in a low voice.
“…Long ti no see, Orianna.”
Orianna’s eyes rolled, her legs gave out, and she fainted on the spot.
Mo Yuankai leaped forward to catch the lady knight in the nick of ti, shouting, “Wake up, Orianna, Orianna!!”
Orianna murmured unconsciously, “Oh… it’s a dream… ”
“It’s real, not a dream—ah, no wrong, it’s a dream it’s a dream! You mustn’t wake up!!”
At that mont a gust of wind swept in, the gray-haired young man arriving at the door out of breath. He imdiately saw the unconscious old friend and his own brother, and he covered his face and let out a piercing scream, “You made Orianna faint from shock!!”
“For fuck’s sake, will you shut up!”
“Quick, give her CPR!”
“If you have ti to joke, help find a disguise device!”
“What’s the use of a disguise after everything’s seen? I might as well buy you a gym mbership on the spot, better than continuing the charade, just wait for death, you!”
Mo Yuankai’s face suddenly changed, and with a sinister smile he said, “Alright then, Ah Ce, I’m ready to face death. As the saying goes, misfortunes never co singly, and it seems the ancients didn’t deceive . Us brothers are indeed in a shared predicant, wish you luck.”
“Ah? You—”
Gongsun Ce thought of a certain possibility he didn’t want to acknowledge, turned around quickly, seeking so trace, hoping to notice so sign, but the mont he turned his head his gaze focused downward, to the simple, direct reality that made him unable to evade any longer.
She stood under the light of the streetlamp, looking at him serenely. She appeared unchanged from their first eting, still wearing her deerstalker and her overcoat, her hair white as snow, bright gray eyes sparkling with wisdom, her beautiful face devoid of perfunctory smiles.
Ti seed to have left no mark on her, she was as lovely as before, as dazzling as before. The scenes from his mories superimposed on reality for an instant, and he felt as if he were back to their first eting, only he was no longer in black clothes, no longer as restless and frivolous as before, and no longer able to speak the words of those days.
“Good evening, Ce.”
She smiled faintly, plain as the many tis he had heard her say.
“Long ti no see.”
“Alandia…”
Gongsun Ce didn’t realize what he was saying, didn’t realize what he was doing. He simply reached out instinctively to touch the woman’s face, to make sure she wasn’t just a fignt of a dream.
His fingertips relayed a real sensation; she was always real, never a hint of falseness in her.
Gongsun Ce suddenly wanted to cry, and he said softly:
“Long ti no see.”
The great wheel of ti started turning once more at that mont, he knew sothing was about to happen, he would have to go sowhere else. But the mories in his mind involuntarily started to rewind, turning him back into that wild, dissolute youth, taking him back four years to the white city of glory…
Back to that sumr they had spent together, day and night.
