Night ti.

Outside had fallen completely silent. There was no sound of house servants from outside, as if the world didn't exist beyond this room.

For a mont, Dawn wondered if he was in a dream. He would have liked to believe that he was, except the impending sense of doom didn't let him have such a luxury.

The only sound that Dawn was able to hear was the beating of his heart.

Badum, Badum! His heart was beating like a war drum beneath his chest. Dawn wasn't sure whether it was because of excitent or nervousness.

He took a deep breath and looked at Fiona's figure from the corner of his eyes; she was quietly standing in one corner of the room with her eyes closed.

"Is she still here or..." he wanted to say she might already be in the Eternal Battlefield, but given her duties as his maid, he was sure his family wouldn't allow her to do this.

Shaking his head to get rid of useless thoughts, in the next mont a resolute look appeared in his eyes, and without hesitating, he chose 'Yes' and closed his eyes, pretending to fall asleep.

Imdiately Dawn felt the world around him spin, and before he realized it, he was back.

[Brave warrior, Welco to the Eternal Battlefield.]

Dawn ignored the strings of windows floating before him and scanned his surroundings.

Although weeks had passed, he was still worried that the monster might be waiting for him.

The surroundings were dimly lit; it was difficult to look far into the distance. The air was filled with the rancid sll of rotten corpses and another burning foul sll that made him want to puke his guts out.

His nose imdiately scrunched up in disgust; however, he sighed internally, thankfully there were no signs of the Nether Wraiths nearby.

No longer in danger, Dawn finally could examine himself.

"So this is my soul body..."

Dawn muttered in awe while examining his body, which looked exactly like a little baby with an underdeveloped figure.

According to the information that he had gathered from the Brain Sumrsault stories, while the physical body of a warrior remained back in reality, their souls would travel to the Eternal Battlefield.

As a result, dying in the Eternal Battlefield also ant dying in reality.

"Let's not waste any more ti..."

After examining himself, Dawn imdiately started to crawl forward to get a better understanding of his surroundings. He wanted to walk but had to be content with crawling as walking was really difficult for him.

The fact that he could crawl while not even being a month old was nothing short of a miracle in itself.

It was surprising only by Earth standards, to be honest. In this world, babies experienced accelerated growth, and the fact that Dawn was taking special dications couldn't be ignored either.

However, the scene was really hilarious and extrely uncomfortable: a small, cute-looking baby slowly crawling while being surrounded by bones and rotten corpses from all sides.

"Did I just step on a bone?" Dawn muttered while frowning. He felt as if he had stepped on sothing hard and sharp, giving him a weird feeling.

Strangely, however, he didn't feel any sense of discomfort being surrounded by such a grueso sight.

It wasn't the first ti Dawn was feeling this way; he was starting to suspect that this had sothing to do with his class.

While crawling, he glanced at the status window to look at his stats.

"Hmm... One point should be equal to a normal adult..." Dawn pondered. Suddenly, however, he stopped and raised his head to look at the giant shiny eggs, almost multiple tis bigger than him, lying in front of him.

"These eggs are... cultivator's pods," Dawn said as he rembered his mother's words.

'When Brain saw these giant white eggs, which in reality were soul nourishing pods of Nether Wraiths, his blood would boil in anger...'

At a single glance, Dawn estimated there were more than a hundred such eggs present in this place.

With the sight of these pods, Dawn also confird where he was in the Eternal Battlefield. Given all the clues, he seed to be at the center of a colony of Nether Wraiths.

Not a comfortable place to be in at all.

"Will I get stronger if I crush all these pods?"

Suddenly, dangerous thoughts started to fill his mind. In these eggs were mostly Beginner Iron Grade Warriors who were just starting their adventure in the Eternal Battlefield.

"Just crush all these eggs and grow stronger so that you can deal with the hidden threat in reality."

Dawn used all of his ntal strength to get rid of the maddening thoughts which were starting to consu his sanity.

His large eyes turned red due to imnse pressure, but thankfully he was able to control the urge...

Just as he was feeling relieved, he heard the sound of sothing moving through the air at fast speed.

Dawn's expression imdiately fell, and a faint chill spread across his body.

chilling gust swept through the air, snuffing out the faint light around him. Tendrils of smoke slithered into the space like living shadows, coalescing into a towering form. Its ember-like eyes flickered with unholy light, and a low, guttural voice shattered the silence.

"Hmmm... What a delicious little soul..."

The creature's smoky body rippled, and its edges seed to dissolve into the air, as though it could vanish and reappear at will. A suffocating pressure closed in on Dawn, making his tiny fra tremble involuntarily.

Following the voice, a faint smoky monster with two burning embers in place of eye sockets appeared.

The monster first looked at Dawn on the floor, then at the surroundings, following which confusion seed to appear in its eyes for a mont.

"How? Only one ripe human soul... where are the rest?"

Dawn looked at the towering smoky entity and swallowed his saliva nervously. He could only hope that his newfound skills were effective, or he was as good as dead.

Well, not really—if that was the case, Dawn wouldn't have co to the Battlefield of his own accord.

Earlier he had tested; if he wanted to leave this place, he could do so any ti he wanted.

he could rely on the ability, right?

While feeling sowhat reassured of his safety, he gazed at the monster with a strange look in his eyes.
