Dave continued, his voice calm and insightful. "Most snake-type beast spirits have a venom sac, a natural reservoir that stores their poison and prevents it from harming their own bodies. It’s a self-protection chanism that evolves over ti—smart and efficient."
He paused, glancing toward Dugu Bo, who sat motionless in deep cultivation.
"But the Jade Phosphor Serpent doesn’t work that way. It doesn’t store its venom separately. It circulates the poison throughout its entire body. That’s where its fearso power cos from—every cell, every breath, every strike is laced with deadly toxicity."
ilin blinked. "So... if a human awakens that martial spirit..."
"They beco poisoned," Dave said bluntly. "Their body isn’t like the Jade Phosphor Serpent’s. We’re not built to circulate venom like that. So from the mont soone awakens it, their spirit is already a ticking ti bomb. The venom begins to corrode their organs, gnaw at their ridians, and eventually... rot their foundation from within."
Her brows knit together. "Then how did Dugu Bo survive for so long?"
Dave chuckled softly. "Sheer willpower—and absurd talent. But it ca at a cost. Every advancent he made was a battle not just against opponents... but against himself. Against the poison."
He nodded toward the Earth Dragon lon, which was now fully absorbed into Dugu Bo’s body, his aura glowing steadily.
"That herb stabilizes him. Reinforces his system and builds an artificial buffer against the poison. It won’t just heal him—it’ll let him grow beyond what was once possible."
ilin looked next to Dugu Yan, whose evolving aura shimred with a faint, serpentine sheen.
"And her?"
"She’s young," Dave said, voice softening. "The venom hasn’t had ti to ruin her yet. The Celestial Snake Ivy I gave her will rge with her spirit over ti. It’s symbiotic—it’ll regulate her venom and grow with her, acting like an organic venom sac."
He smiled faintly. "Where her grandfather was cursed... she’ll be blessed."
ilin slowly nodded, the weight of the knowledge settling in her chest.
"And you figured all this out... on your own?"
Dave gave her a quiet, knowing smile—Well he have the advantage of knowing the world.
The ground around the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well trembled slightly.
ilin instinctively took a step back.
Dave didn’t move. His gaze was fixed firmly on Dugu Bo.
The old poison master’s aura surged—no longer unstable, no longer corrosive and ragged like before. It was steady now. Refined. Evolved.
Then, suddenly—
A burst of pressure.
Sharp. Deep. Power
Erald light flared from Dugu Bo’s body, spiraling upward like a coiling serpent of pure poison essence. But it wasn’t wild. It wasn’t maddening. It was... controlled.
No longer the aura of a man fighting against himself.
This was the aura of a man who had beco one with his martial spirit.
Then it changed again.
The green serpent-shaped aura began to elongate, its scales glowing with a golden hue. The edges shimred faintly with phantom horns. Its tail curled into a flowing tendril of mist. And its presence—its feel—shifted entirely.
From serpent...
To sothing more.
Dave narrowed his eyes. "It’s happening..."
ilin looked stunned. "That’s... not a snake anymore."
"No," Dave murmured. "That’s a step beyond."
A Pseudo Dragon. Or more precisely—a Flood Dragon in the making.
In Eastern fantasy and ancient cultivation lore, it was known that when a serpent-type spirit evolved beyond its limits—when it transcended its bloodline and harmonized with powerful heaven-and-earth energies—it could begin to shed its lesser form and inch toward the draconic.
It was a rare path.
A dangerous one.
But Dugu Bo, now bathed in erald-gold light, had begun walking it.
His aura expanded outward like tidal waves, but it was not destructive—it was commanding. Majestic. The pressure was enough to make ordinary Titled Douluo kneel.
Suddenly, his eyes opened.
And they were glowing—reptilian, vertical-slit pupils with golden venom threaded through.
Dugu Bo rose to his feet slowly. Silent.
No pain.
No wince.
No shaking hands or clenched teeth.
Only power.
And clarity.
"...So this is what it feels like to not fight my own body every mont," he said, his voice deeper, steadier than before. "I feel... free."
Dave nodded. "It’s not just your body. Your martial spirit has begun to evolve. You’re not just a serpent anymore."
Dugu Bo looked down at his hands, his spirit still manifesting faintly behind him like a coiled dragon in mist.
"I never imagined... that I could walk this path," Dugu Bo whispered, still staring at the faint, serpentine-draconic projection swirling behind him.
Then, with a frown of awe and disbelief, he asked, "What... is this, exactly?"
Dave’s gaze was steady. "What you’re seeing... is the Flood Dragon transformation—the earliest stage of a serpent stepping beyond its bloodline. It’s the first sign that a snake-type martial spirit is evolving past its limits."
He tilted his head slightly. "Your Jade Phosphor Serpent has begun shedding its origins. It’s no longer a pure venomous beast—it’s aligning with a higher, draconic resonance."
Dugu Bo slowly nodded, the realization settling over him like a heavy cloak—but not an unwelco one.
"...Then from now on, it’s no longer the Jade Phosphorous Serpent," he said with a quiet smirk. "It’s the Jade Phosphorous Flood Dragon."
Dave gave a casual shrug, lips tugging upward. "Call it what you like. Just know... you’ve stepped onto a path few can get the chance of."
As Dugu Bo turned, a subtle shift in the surrounding air drew both of their eyes.
It was Dugu Yan.
She was glowing now—silver and green energy coiling around her like twin rivers. Her body levitated slightly above the ground, and the Celestial Snake Ivy had completely rged with her spirit. Her features were sharper, her aura more regal... and her spirit projection behind her had begun to take form.
But it wasn’t like her grandfather’s.
No—this wasn’t a pseudo dragon.
This was sothing purer.
More ancient.
And more terrifying.
She slowly descended, her eyes opening—bright erald irises slit vertically, but flecked with golden light. The ivy pattern now faintly etched into her arms glowed like living runes.
Dugu Bo frowned. "...She’s giving off pressure. Toward ."
Dave smirked faintly. "That’s not disrespect. It’s instinct. Her herb wasn’t the sa as yours."
He stepped beside Dugu Bo, eyes locked on Dugu Yan’s transforming spirit. "The Celestial Snake Ivy doesn’t just balance poison—it’s symbiotic. It fuses, transforms, and elevates."
"She didn’t take a step toward a flood dragon..." Dave said quietly. "She skipped it."
Dugu Bo’s eyes widened.
"She’s not a Flood Dragon," Dave finished. "She’s sothing closer to... a True Dragon Serpent. Her bloodline isn’t mutating—it’s being rewritten."
