Chapter 2015: Chapter 2078: Reconciliation
"The door’s not locked." Li Yifei’s voice ca from inside. The Saintess felt a pang in her heart. Despite her multi-faceted nature and perceptive heart acupoint, she still didn’t know how to face Li Yifei regarding this matter. Although she wasn’t the cause, it started because of her.
Li Yifei’s voice was calm, revealing neither anger nor anything else; just like before. The Saintess steadied her mind, gently pushed open the door, and with the widening door crack, she saw Li Yifei sitting on the sofa, shirtless. Beside him was a baby carriage; she couldn’t see the scene inside, but she knew it was his child.
She walked in, turned, and softly closed the door, her steps neither hurried nor slow as she approached Li Yifei.
Stopping two or three ters in front of Li Yifei, there was so guilt in the Saintess’ eyes. Although Li Yifei’s bare upper body had no apparent injuries, she could still see so faint marks on his shoulder and arm, presumably left by the dark attendants.
Li Yifei was also looking at her, still radiantly charming. Perhaps because of her guilt, she appeared sowhat vulnerable, missing most of her usual allure, gaining a sense of... genuineness.
"I’m sorry!" After a brief silence, the Saintess spoke. Her hands were twisted behind her back, showing her inner entanglent and chaos. Her apology was softly spoken, perhaps the first one in her life.
Li Yifei stared at her, his expression gradually softening upon hearing her apology. He shook his head slowly, saying, "Although you’re at fault, it’s not entirely your fault."
"After all, it started because of ..."
Li Yifei raised his hand to gesture her to stop, then said, "If that’s all you ca to say, there’s no need. Wouldn’t you agree?"
The Saintess bit her lip, released, and then bit again as Li Yifei’s sowhat self-deprecating words followed: "Sit, you don’t need to apologize further. We understand each other; the matter has mostly co to an end. You’ve said that the Holy War Organization won’t send anyone to harass or block
anymore, and I don’t plan to pursue it further for now."
The Saintess nodded lightly, just as she was about to speak, Li Yifei remarked in a sowhat mocking tone, "After all, I’ve got family and business now. Going against such a massive organization openly would be the equivalent of a praying mantis trying to stop a chariot."
"Yifei, you..." The Saintess felt even more conflicted, her heart heavy with discomfort.
"Alright then. I can’t say these words to others, so I vent to you; just listen, but don’t take it to heart. I’ve labeled it as re complaints," Li Yifei said with a grin.
The Saintess sniffed, feeling her eyes warm; an indescribable emotion lingered in her heart. No matter what, the man sitting across from her was her beloved. With such a huge issue stirred, his few comforting words made her heart warm.
She carefully walked to the baby carriage. The child had fallen asleep, their long eyelashes fluttering occasionally. The child looked so much like Li Yifei that the Saintess zones out for a mont. If she lost, would she, too, beco a mother alongside Li Yifei, giving birth to an adorable baby? It’s said that mixed-race children are even more beautiful, embodying the best genes.
This minor distraction made her cheeks warm. She steadied herself, wishing to touch the child but dared not. Seeing the child also gave her relief. At least the organization didn’t harm the child but cared for it ticulously. The Saintess had asked the elder on the way, who assured her they wouldn’t trouble the child, assigning several people to take special care of it.
"Just ate and drank, now asleep; also got six teeth, two above, four below," Li Yifei said proudly.
The Saintess glanced at Li Yifei, nodded firmly, and whispered, "That’s wonderful. In a little while, they’ll be calling ’mama’ and ’papa’."
"Already can. Just during a call with ngxin, he called ’mama.’ I guess the mothers at ho are all touched and crying," Li Yifei said.
The Saintess smiled, despite never being a mother, she felt longing. Naturally, under normal circumstances, the Holy War Organization’s Saintess shouldn’t beco a mother, dedicating her life to the organization, defeating inner demons, advancing. Perhaps she’d be an exception?
Li Yifei chuckled, glanced at the box, and asked, "What’s inside?"
The Saintess turned to look at it, softly explaining, "So children’s supplies prepared on the way here, but... nothing for you. I wasn’t aware of your clothing size..."
"No worries, just had a fight, and my clothes got ruined," Li Yifei said.
The dark energy was corrosive. His pants were now worse off than a beggar’s, though he couldn’t greet the Saintess in the buff.
The Saintess responded with an "um," glancing at the window before saying, "She had it coming."
"Certainly. If she rely tried to stop , I wouldn’t have gone for the kill. But she intended to kill ; I couldn’t let her succeed," Li Yifei said calmly.
The Saintess felt a chill in her heart. Though she had considered this possibility on her way here, hearing it from Li Yifei’s mouth still surprised her. After a few seconds, the Saintess understood the reason and gave a faint smile, saying, "So you see, even within the organization, it’s not all peaceful; it’s also full of scheming."
"Consider this a complaint; it’s fine to vent to , but don’t ntion it when you go back!" Li Yifei pointed at the Saintess and said.
"Of course, I know." The Saintess felt much better; just now, Li Yifei had vented to her, and she had reciprocated with a few grievances of her own, easing the awkwardness between them considerably.
"What’s with her black aura? Do you have it too?" Li Yifei asked at once.
The Saintess shook her head and said, "I don’t have it. Although we were all candidate saintesses at the ti, the organization wouldn’t allow us to practice the respective techniques unless we were chosen as Saintess, after which we would cultivate higher-level techniques. I practiced a technique called ’Saintess Scripture,’ while the failed candidates could choose to live as ordinary people or beco part of the organization. She was the most outstanding, practicing a technique that few in the organization are qualified to train in, called ’Heart of Death.’ The process is difficult and requires enduring much pain."
Li Yifei raised his eyebrows and said, "That kind of technique, better not to practice. Neither human nor ghost."
"Hmm." The Saintess did not continue on this topic but turned around and walked back, opening the suitcase she had brought. Inside were children’s clothes, milk powder, bottles, and various other supplies, all brand new. After taking them out, she didn’t imdiately place them beside the child but took the bottles and other items to the kitchen, boiled so water, and sterilized the bottles and other things.
"You can do this?" Li Yifei asked sowhat surprised.
"No!" The Saintess answered honestly, "But I asked soone when I ca!"
"Haha, you’re thoughtful." Li Yifei laughed.
The two stayed for about half an hour, the son still sleeping soundly, as Li Yifei and the Saintess stood by the window, he said, "So I can go back smoothly?"
"Yes... they won’t trouble you anymore, at least not before we’ve determined a winner or loser. Otherwise... I’d rather die!" The Saintess said, and Li Yifei had no doubt she would really choose that, so he said, "Living is so much better; dying is just ashes. You can also pass on a ssage: if they don’t play dirty tricks and deal with
openly, I’ll face whatever cos. But if they provoke
too much, I’ll disregard everything, and I’ll make sure the Holy War Organization suffers greatly."
If the Holy War Organization continued to press Li Yifei, he had already planned to have his family move to live on the base or in the Capital City, believing that no matter how rampant the Holy War Organization was, they wouldn’t dare to cause trouble in those places. Otherwise, it would be open provocation to a country, and no matter how formidable the organization, they wouldn’t dare.
Besides, the United States is not just the Holy War Organization; there must be plenty of organizations operating in the shadows. If pushed, Li Yifei would have to fight back...
The Saintess understood too. She looked gently at Li Yifei and said, "No, I assure you, if such a thing happens again, I won’t be the Saintess anymore."
"Haha!" Li Yifei laughed heartily, then noticed the Saintess giving him a signal, reminding him that the child was still sleeping. He quickly stopped laughing, leaned close to the Saintess, and whispered, "The power of love is indeed great."
As warm breath brushed against her ears and cheeks, the Saintess slightly shrank her neck, feeling her face heat up. She wasn’t sure if it was from embarrassnt or Li Yifei’s warm breath.
In any case, this conversation went rather well, and things were moving in a good direction.
"Settle down for a while when you return, and adjust yourself. Whenever you’re ready, we’ll have another match. This ti, with no other matters affecting us, I believe we can focus entirely." Li Yifei paused for a mont, then said.
The Saintess’s brows relaxed. She mimicked Li Yifei, placing her hands behind her back and scratching the palm of her other hand with her fingers, then said, "Okay, a gentleman’s word."
Li Yifei turned his head to look at the Saintess, "But you’re a woman."
"Even so, I’ll keep my word!" The Saintess lifted her face and said.
"Alright, no turning back!" Li Yifei responded.
The conversation concluded. Since the Holy War Organization no longer intended to trouble Li Yifei, he wasn’t too worried for now. So he didn’t need to rush to leave and could have his family send a plane, allowing so ti for Li Yifei to wait for half a day.
The Saintess was also preparing to leave when Li Yifei suddenly rembered sothing. He took out his phone and called Liang Wei. The phone rang for a while without being answered, so Li Yifei called Yi i’er. This ti it connected, but Yi i’er’s anxious voice exclaid, "Uncle, I can’t talk now, Vivian is in trouble!"
"What?" Li Yifei’s heart skipped a beat. He imdiately thought of a possibility, glanced at the Saintess, and asked, "Don’t hang up, tell
what’s wrong with Liang Wei!"
