111 Chapter 82: An Unexpected Mistake_2

The woman pulled out the iron bar strapped to her back and, with a swing, struck the cane knife squarely. Using the montum, her body soared high into the air, and just like that, she vaulted over the shops and out of sight. The man in black roared in anger, chasing after her.

As the young woman made her escape, the policen and Self-Defense Force mbers surrounding the area started to give chase too, leaving only a few behind to handle the body of the fallen officer. The few armored vehicles and the helicopter in the sky also took off in the direction the woman had left.

Only when he saw the woman safely away did Yan Fei drop the curtain of his room, his face showing a shocked expression. He hadn't expected the woman's strength to be so formidable, her movents crisp and decisive, without a hint of excess. He recognized the man in black who attacked her, the very sa Hideo Oogawa who had co to China to capture him. Oogawa looked incredibly nacing, and it was fortunate that Duan Hongye of the China Special Duties Unit had suddenly appeared and scared him off. Unexpectedly, Oogawa had shown up again tonight, yet the woman managed to escape.

Although the policen and Self-Defense Force mbers had left, Yan Fei couldn't shake off a vague feeling that sothing was amiss, though he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. However, now that the police had gone, his alarm was officially called off. He had decided to rush back to China, but since he had accepted a commission, he decided he would wait here for three days. If the woman did not show up, he would head to the warehouse at the Tokyo Bay port and hand over the USB drive to the contact there.

Yan Fei started to access the internet on his ho computer to see if the recent incident had made the news, but there was no sign of it. Normally, such a significant event would have drawn the news dia to the scene, but there was silence, which made him conclude that Japan's so-called press freedom was nothing but a sham; if they didn't want you to see sothing, you would never see it.

By ten o'clock at night, the thunderous roar of helicopters could be heard once again outside his room. Yan Fei looked out to see two police helicopters circling overhead, their powerful searchlights scanning below. Down the streets, dozens of military vehicles appeared and ca to a halt near his ho, and from these vehicles poured out several hundred Japanese Self-Defense Force mbers, fully ard, as they began to blockade the neighborhood.

Yan Fei was startled and didn't have ti to think about what was happening when two Black Hawk transport helicopters suddenly appeared in the sky, dropping down more than thirty Arican soldiers. These US Forces mbers joined up with the Self-Defense Force mbers to discuss the situation.

While they were talking, five US-painted M1A2 main battle tanks turned the far street corner, followed by a few armored transport vehicles. When these vehicles ca to a stop, another fifty or sixty Arican soldiers jumped out.

Yan Fei was filled with uncertainty, not knowing what situation had arisen. Then, two Apache Ard Helicopters appeared in the sky, fully ard and circling the neighborhood as if monitoring what was happening on the ground.

Within less than ten minutes, Yan Fei's neighborhood was completely surrounded by US Forces and Japanese Self-Defense Forces, not only with main battle tanks and armored vehicles on the ground but also with Apache helicopters in the sky.

Even though he had no idea what had happened, Yan Fei instinctively felt sothing was very wrong. He activated the subrged drone in readiness to provide fire support at a mont's notice.

The US military and the Self-Defense Forces had the area locked down tight. Civilians wishing to pass through were rudely turned away by the army, and those inside were not allowed to leave. The military soldiers then began to break into residential houses, dragging people out and stuffing them into buses that had arrived, all the while searching the rooms, evidently looking for sothing.

Yan Fei's bad feeling grew worse, then he heard two Arican soldiers who had just taken away his neighbor across the hall, talking to each other.

One Arican soldier, puzzled, said, "Tom, aren't we going to get taken to the military court for grabbing people like this?"

Tom, the Arican soldier, replied, "Fes, don't talk too much. Our mission here is to search for top-secret data taken by the Chinese. You know how fast China's technology has been advancing in recent years. If they get their hands on this information, the consequences are unimaginable."

Fes, the Arican soldier, responded, "But I've heard that those data originally belonged to China, right? Aren't we effectively stealing their data?"

With a wry smile, Tom said, "Fes, you're too naive. Do you really think China has the ability to develop such advanced technology? They've stolen our technology and then claim it as their own invention. They're thieves, always pilfering technology from other nations."

"If it's technology stolen from us by China, why do we even need to take it back? Our technology is definitely stronger, right?" inquired Fes.

Finding Fes stubbornly ignorant, Tom didn't want to discuss it further, replying, "Anyway, we just have to carry out the orders from our superiors. As long as we follow these commands, we won't face a military court."

Continuing his questions, Fes asked, "Didn't our intelligence say that this place is the hideout of the Chinese spy who took the data? Why do we need such a wide-scale operation? Wouldn't it be better to directly catch the Chinese spy?"

"All we know is that a Chinese person has taken the data, and the last place she was spotted is here, but we don't know who did it. Nor do we know if she has spread the data, so we have to detain everyone in the area until we find it," Tom explained.

Still incredulous, Fes said, "Doing this, is the Japanese Governnt really fine with us grabbing their people like this?"

Tom chuckled, "If it was any other country, even ones much weaker than Japan, we wouldn't dare to act so brazenly. But in Japan, we can do whatever we like. Just think of the Japanese as a dog we raise; since when do dogs challenge their masters? Look at them, aren't they dispatching their Self-Defense Forces to help us with the search?"

Fes was astonished and said, "Doing this, isn't the Japanese Governnt afraid their people will rise up against them?"

"With so many of our military bases stationed here, what can they do? Besides, the Japanese have always revered the strong. They adore us because we beat them so badly back then. They don't dare make a fuss about us. Oh, and by the way, I know a fun place, with incredibly beautiful Japanese won, and you can even S/M to satisfy all your manly desires," Tom said.

Enticed by Tom's words, Fes quickly forgot his doubts and eagerly asked, "Where is this place? Is it expensive..."
